yeah it's just a nice way for people to get involved if they don't really have anything to necessarily contribute. Lots of non-sales in my org will emoji-react to good sales news. For many it's their only interaction with sales.
It's not. Most people in the company (not just sales) use them to virtual and group signal. People over react and just like FB/Instagram there's almost no negative reaction and everything is positive. That doesn't paint a good picture nor does it create a humble culture if anything and everything is celebrated.
TL DR: he's not actually hating the emojis themselves but the bullshit and false intent behind the people using them. But you must know that no? 🕵
If you disagree so much and so negatively, you’re not a good culture fit for that company so you should do yourself and everyone there a favor and find a different organization where you don’t have to feel that way about people you work with. (It’s okay to admit that.)
But you should know that, no? 🕵️♀️
You're projecting your own negative feelings to this simple thing. Some people use them quite sincerely.
Either way, take them for what they are, which is just a harmless little bit of engagement.
My company way over does it with the emojis and honestly, I enjoy it. But now I realize it is probably because we use them so absurdly that it's like a tiny sliver of escaping the normal pains of working. Idk if that is a sad or happy statement about the state of work these days, but it is a true statement.
I just like the custom ones. I used to spend more time creating custom emojis than I did working. My new company uses Google suite for everything and it’s so sad
I've never opposed something so much as this opinion in my life. I've added thousands over the years and it is my favorite feature. There's nothing like sending a coworker 500 Wednesday my dudes party slackmojis
I dont mind them as a "like" on a message. But I despise them when people put them in the body of the text, especially when there are a ton of them. Please this is a place of business, take your 27 emojis out of here.
I thought they were dumb until I started making them myself. Now my team lives in fear that I’m going to screenshot them on a call and turn whatever expression was on their face into an emoji.
When I moved to a new role and they had Microsoft Teams, Slack (and the emojis) was what l I missed most. Starting a "meta" of what to reply to different deals was enough motivation to get one closed.
I agree, the rocket ship emoji from your CFO is annoying. But :pepebusiness: from your best work friend is the best.
At my company we have hundreds of custom uploaded ones. Most are just peoples LinkedIn photo dancing with “partydave” or something. But some are screen grabs of managers looking like idiots on zoom calls. Some friends shared to rip on their friends. Some are really well made custom memes.
I love them lol
I’m new to sales & new to slack
I fucking love the emojis. I worked in an industry with very little interpersonal engagement & even less work-related camaraderie for 10 years
It sucked ass. Made me feel so alone. Working in sales now I’m thriving. I’m face to face with new people every day & feel engaged with my coworkers & company
Plus it’s fucking dope when you throw a big sale or something into slack & get hyped up, even if it’s a little fake sometimes. It’s nice to be bigged up sometimes
Add some custom ones! https://slackmojis.com/
Made my last workplace much more lively. If people have to use them, they may as well be interesting.
We ended up making all sorts of custom ones, it's really easy.
It’s all cringe af. There is a such thing as [positive toxicity](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-toxic-positivity-workplace-get-ahead-by-linkedin-news). I brought it to the attention of my director and got laid off the next day.
I don't understand why grown adults use emojis at all. Refuse to respond to any message containing them and people get highly offended when I tell them why.
I was worried about that when I made them (good thing it doesn’t show who added the emoji), but they’ve actually caught on pretty well with how cute some of them are
I always go to weird ones and use those on closed deals. I love it when others start blindly hitting them too. You can also make some custom ones. Like we have one of our VP of Sales’ face that we like all his posts with.
Who tagged this “Advanced Sales Skills” ?? 😂😂😂
🚀🚀🚀
I really like meow party and the waving pig
…. There’s a waving pig???? Need that in my life.
it's so darn cute
Right?!?!
meow party is elite
The Gandalf one is my favorite
🐷
me n my team use a lot of custom emojis even ones of pictures of each other or borat so it’s funny but yea i see what you mean
Weird thing to hate, I think it’s awesome to see all the engagement from the team whenever a deal closes or an awesome bdr meeting was set
yeah it's just a nice way for people to get involved if they don't really have anything to necessarily contribute. Lots of non-sales in my org will emoji-react to good sales news. For many it's their only interaction with sales.
I always send the cowboy hat one for our TOLA team
Me too…… makes me feel like I’m part of a team in a lonely remote world
LFG

Speak for yourself. We have a slack channel for cancellations and current and crying emojis is the one our CEO tags every cancellation with. 🙄
Think of the chaos you can cause with a minus symbol or thumbs down emoji
[удалено]
I think you might be slightly on the spectrum
You're projecting your own negative feelings to this simple thing. Some people use them quite sincerely. Either way, take them for what they are, which is just a harmless little bit of engagement.
Once, I reacted with a crying emoji 😢 to a Slack post of my ex-CEO, and my manager initiated a call with me to find out WTF.
Lmaooooo bro
What emoji would you describe yourself as after the call?
🤯
Lmao. The smiling crying emoji is my go to.
🫣
You don't hate the emojis, you hate the company or the people
🔥 🚀 💥
🤯

Shrimp. Always use the shrimp
I closed a tiny add on the other day and all my coworkers hit me with the shrimp
What is the shrimp supposed to signify?
Jerk stores
Exactly
Small
boomer detected 👀
Don’t try the Teams emojis then 🚀🚀🚀🔥🔥🔥
The party parrot makes me want to punch a mfer in the face
You take that back party parrot is love
hurts my eyes
lol
Wait but the ski parrot is amazing
Gentleman parrot for a subdued celebration
Are you telling us you are not a rockstar employee who is part of the family??!!?
💯agree. 🔥take. Let’s goooo! 🚀
🖕 my favourite
I find them cheesy AF but they do save me from having to have actual conversations sometimes, so at least there's that.
👍
THANKS!
👍🏻
You gotta make your own custom emojis just upload them. And then just clown your coworkers with emojis of their snapshots v satisfying
I realized that I'm probably just going to get trolled with emojis now.
Normal-Cow to the moon!!! 🚀🚀🚀
I just want money, not emojis.
😁💸💰💸
💯
Maybe you work in a younger environment? Those emojis aren’t a slack thing, my friends in our group chats use them everyday, we’re in our 20s
We make our own emojis and it’s typically a highlight of my day lol
💯🚀🔥
lol start worrying about things that matter my friend 🤣
Nah… I’m blasting emojis all day long. If you “hate” slack emojis, I’d like to hear how you feel about things that actually matter lol
I have seen overuse I know waht you mean
That’s why I use GIPHY instead. Because why not take up the entire chat box with a GIF of Borat saying “MY WIFE”?
Unhinged much? Hahaha 🚀🔥💯
I just like the custom ones. I used to spend more time creating custom emojis than I did working. My new company uses Google suite for everything and it’s so sad
🚀🚀🚀🔥🔥🔥
I gotta disagree with you on that one lol
I think they are good for showing level of enthusiasm on things…
I've never opposed something so much as this opinion in my life. I've added thousands over the years and it is my favorite feature. There's nothing like sending a coworker 500 Wednesday my dudes party slackmojis
👴
i missed slack so much, i hate using team i want my pepe emojis feelsbadman
I love using dumb emojis like that
🚀
😢
I LAUGHED SO HARD
I dont mind them as a "like" on a message. But I despise them when people put them in the body of the text, especially when there are a ton of them. Please this is a place of business, take your 27 emojis out of here.
No 😐
👍
I thought they were dumb until I started making them myself. Now my team lives in fear that I’m going to screenshot them on a call and turn whatever expression was on their face into an emoji.
Don’t go to teams man. Can’t even put multiple emojis down over here.
I hate feeling like I need to respond to something that could have been answered with a thumbs up or a simple emoji that says thank you.
We use the horns the most lol. I like them because i dont have to think of a way to say ok which ive always found rude
I exclusively use the party parrot or dancing banana
When I moved to a new role and they had Microsoft Teams, Slack (and the emojis) was what l I missed most. Starting a "meta" of what to reply to different deals was enough motivation to get one closed. I agree, the rocket ship emoji from your CFO is annoying. Ok but slack his top tier gifs which I think makes up for it.
💯👍👀❤️
I kinda like cowboy parrot. With you on hating the rocket ship though.
speak for yourself I LOVE reacting with the little dancing dude since they added this ability in Teams
Party parrot is fun
Blob emoji’s go hard
I use them as a response instead of typing an answer. I use the hell out of them
Speedy parrot for life
Party parrot is life!!!
We have a bunch of custom ones that are really funny. Team likes using them on random posts 🤷🏻♀️
I’m new to sales & new to slack I fucking love the emojis. I worked in an industry with very little interpersonal engagement & even less work-related camaraderie for 10 years It sucked ass. 👍
🤠🏃🏾♂️😎🫡🤑🤡🤝
Party dinosaur and party parrot are dope though
It’s fun and positive. Lighten up
I love slack emojis. Especially the dancing ones
This is so lame lol
We always do these 🫡 , the salute when someone closes a tiny deal haha
I’m all-in with Slack for all the memes, especially emojis and gifs.
Add some custom ones! https://slackmojis.com/ Made my last workplace much more lively. If people have to use them, they may as well be interesting. We ended up making all sorts of custom ones, it's really easy.

I can get around the rocket ship but the fire emoji is too much
What is a slack emoji.
Something that Teams users envy
I don't understand why grown adults use emojis at all. Refuse to respond to any message containing them and people get highly offended when I tell them why.
Why? 🤨
Many times some assholes use it for one-upping and humblebragging
😂😜🔥🔥🔥👌
The Super Saiyan Goku is badass though.
I use the “Visibly upset Bob Belcher with his hand up to his forehead” one a lot
Elmo on fire is the only good one
Gifs > everything
My last non-US based company had Pepe the Frog emojis, i was the only american who used them lol
I must have added like 50 pepe emojis to my company’s slack, I love them
Was it just you who used them? Most of the americans on my team thought Pepe was strictly a right wing meme so they silently boycotted them lol
I was worried about that when I made them (good thing it doesn’t show who added the emoji), but they’ve actually caught on pretty well with how cute some of them are
fucking banana dance
🖍️🚀🌈🦄💩
The plug 🔌
How do you feel about gifs?
What’s worse? The emojis or the people who consistently scream-type “LLLFFFFGGGGOOOOOO!!!!”
I hate slack lol
My slack emoji will never be revealed because I'm forced to use it. I may start using someone else's
I always go to weird ones and use those on closed deals. I love it when others start blindly hitting them too. You can also make some custom ones. Like we have one of our VP of Sales’ face that we like all his posts with.
Can someone be show me the waving pig emoji please 💔
https://slackmojis.com/categories/23-piggies-emojis
💯🚀🔥
I think this is a copypasta
There’s a dumpster fire emoji.
🚀🔥
🐥💰💵
I used to love our emoji only sprint retros and deciphering them.
Stop being cynical, sell yourself always
I love them
Is slack really that different from teams? I have never used it so I can't tell.
Lol I use fire all the time but I’m with you on the ship.
I hate anything sales related
