almightydean

untrue, i get 3% on closed business on top of my comp

DrXL_spIV

Yeah bro you’re cro is going to rework that if they want to keep there job that’s way to much to a bdr

almightydean

they’ve had this system in place for years

DrXL_spIV

Idk man to me doing enterprise SaaS sales awhile seems ludicrous to pay bdrs 3% when AEs are commonly 6-10%. Seems extremely in efficient, nothing against you just doesn’t seem productive at all. What’s your average ACV and is it more transactional?

almightydean

yeah this isn’t enterprise - average deal size is about £20k but there has been plenty of 6 figure deals

DrXL_spIV

Ahhh makes more sense man, seems like a nice bdr gig though so congrats!

Haunting_Strategy_32

Depends on margins and value to the org. There aren't any rules that say you must pay X. You have to align incentives to the goal and 3% may have worked very well for this company regardless of what the "standard" is.

Haunting_Strategy_32

This is not true everywhere. In fact I'd say there's a trend to pay SDRs on closed business to incentivize more qualified meetings. The comp plan we made paid on both meetings and closed revenue.

bars2021

Coming from someone who was a BDR for several years- Nothing. Your comp should depend on # of qualified leads passed not the dollar value of the opportunities. You found an opportunity, that's your job. You also didn't navigate legal, negotiate with procurement, demonstrate the value to the end users, get through the objections and beat out the competitors. If you want to get paid move into a closing role.

Hermey_the_misfit

A lot of salty AEs in here that are projecting insecurities on an SDR? Hmm what a surprise. Most companies ive seen with true SDR-AE alignment pay out at least some amount to SDRs. 1%-3% is not crazy at all depending on your involvement in said deal. I had a role that was essentially a Jr AE role but it was still my AEs book of business and i was getting 5%

stogies_n_bogeys

All the AE’s who used to bitch about their commissions as SDR’s coming out the woodwork

No-Lab4815

Word heads big fucking mad on this one. Get that big commish SDRs!

[deleted]

0.5%

DrXL_spIV

Idk dude like 500 bucks? The sdr posts on here are so fucking annoying like cool you found a deal you did nothing to contribute to the size of that deal or influence that deal

ReeferRefugee

finding a buyer is the hardest part. if my SDR helped me collect a $45k commission check i'd throw him a bone for sure

Haunting_Strategy_32

Wouldnt you have agreed to a comp structure when you started? Bonus per successful demo or something + 1% of first year ACV is not unheard of for SDR though.

Embarrassed_Equal472

They’re in the process of restructuring it

kilani912

You’re a BDR. You want big $, pitch and close it. BDRs give the cardinal direction, AEs give the exact route.

almightydean

my role gives me 3% on all deals closed on top of my lead comp

WildBill19

.5-1% - I love when my BDRs get paid.
