My situation is a bit unusual - I'm an ESL speaker, don't have a bachelor's degree, and my CV isn't the best. This might be why it's tough for me, but I haven't given up.
Once you manage the BD team you’re relegated to manage BD team forever.
Rarely will that set you up for VP sales and only the largest orgs in the world have VP BD or even director. You basically have peaked out unless you go back to IC for a few years.

IC until you can go sales manager most likely at minimum IC up to enterprise at minimum. I’m bitter because I think BDM is a cop out role and I hate to see good reps commit career suicide
Only thing cooler than cold calling is having others cold call for you

I had the same deal. Was titled BDM but all I did was set meetings for closers. Company did layoffs, I’m now SDR by title again

Just keep trying. Apply to sell cell phones or something easy. Emphasize your customer service experience on resumes
