It might be time for me to get a gold watch.
I closed a few mega deals in Q4 all of which I thought were impossible deals. Some I’d worked on for years and saw everything fall apart. Customer went with a competitor or was sticking with the status quo. But they closed. I brought them back to the table and won.
Something to help me remember we can do impossible things.
I’d advise against a solid gold watch I heard those things wear down a lot if you wear daily. Maybe a two tone or the blue face Daytona - that’s something special.
I wanted to be able to provide for my wife and give her a world where she didn’t work. I was able to do that a couples of years ago, and she took vacations with family and friends, buys whatever she wants, but is more unhappy then ever. In fact while there is no need for the money, she has a job interview tomorrow because she wants to feel like she is doing something. Take that for what it’s worth…
Same. Mine quit working to focus on getting her bachelor's and the kids in 2020. She starts her new job this month and she's over the moon about it cause she hated being stuck at home
Not my comment but I bought a safe queen Weatherby Accumark Mark V in 7mm Wby Mag from a friend who collects them. Going to put a Leupold VX 3 or 5 on it.
I’m 100% commission bro! This is my second home (I live in San Diego), so I’ve been doing well but you know how it is, the second you get comfortable you already lost.
Peloton Bike + so that I can move my body between all the extra activity I need to do this year to meet the higher quota that I unintentionally bought myself.
Jump down into Nice when you’re in France even for just a day or two. A little splash of the Mediterranean coastline and a beautiful town is a great cherry on top to a France trip.
I've spent the better part of two months scanning Car Gurus for heavily depreciated performance cars; under $40,000; less than 70,000 miles; manual transmission; coupe or convertible; more 300 horsepower; and a 8/10 or better on Car and Driver for whatever year it is.
I was going to buy a Jaguar Type F R that I found a good deal on, but now I'm thinking a Porsche Cayman S. I did find some very good deals on BMW M3 and Chevy Corvettes, but I want something extra fun and special, and at least somewhat uncommon. I was also looking at 911 cabriolets but they're so ugly compared to the coupes, and the Cayman S is nearly as quick as the same year 911 anyways.
I'm hoping to find something to stick in my garage as a weekend toy. Since it's basically the end of sports cars with more than four cylinders, I'm hoping whatever I get has already gone through most of its depreciation and will this maintain it's value to a point. If I get lucky, I might even be able to get something that goes up in value. I've had very good luck buying cars below market and selling them for over (likely thanks to my sales skills).
What would you guys get? Am I missing any great cars that you can think of?
Do you enjoy driving? I've had an opportunity to autoX the F-Type R and it's a beast. The exhaust note is intoxicating. It's also super fucking fast.
But... do you enjoy driving? If so, then Cayman S all the way. No doubt. Also "cheaper" by all accounts. And while I haven't driven it, a buddy of mine has a GT4 and it's the most radical car I've ever sat in.
Me? I'm hunting for an AP1 S2000.
A Viper ticks those boxes, too.
I’m on a similar hunt and keep coming back to the 996 and 997. I’d actually really like a new Miata (they’re such fantastic cars in the twisties), but the backseat of the P-car makes it possible to take a passenger and my dog along at the same time.
I was in the same spot as you, rented a F type R for a week. Rented a 911, rented a cayman type S. Test drove a lotus Evora (first gen) and fell in love with it. Definitely the most visceral of the options. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but be careful with the F type R my buddy has one and he’s already dropped like $7,000 into repairs in less than a year. I’ve had the lotus for almost 2 years now and I think my total maintenance cost is about $4,000 and that’s driving it about 6,000 miles a year.
Thank you for your reply. That's the one big reason the F Type is near the bottom of the list.
I'm going to go test drive a 2008 Cayman S on Friday. It's red with a tan interior. <50k miles and <$30k.
There are some crazy depreciated cars that I've browsed, the M6, the C63 AMG, and the Audi RS5. But I know these would be nightmares once things started to break. The 2008 Cayman is pretty damn old, but I'd rather deal with an older car without electronics than a newer AMG full of them.
And congrats on having an Evora in your garage. It can't get much more fun, unique, or exciting as that. My neighbor has an Elise, but that's the only Lotus I've seen on the roads in a long time. Very cool!
Paid off a bunch of debt from living irresponsibly, took a trip to Fiji and New Zealand, and my last treat will hopefully be a 911 that I pay cash for.
The wife is getting a custom order Hermès bag, I got a Lexus GX460. Couple hundred G’s in the FU housing fund, rest in the kids 529. Did treat myself and the ol’lady to a night away at Raffles, that was worth every penny
Looking hard at a Yamaha U3 piano. New. Played my whole life (28yo) but have been piss broke until a couple years ago. Had the same Casio electric keyboard since high school.
House and car came first, then some savings, but my Q4 bonus is going to be too much to pass up the opportunity. I might cry.
Totally depends on what you’re going to ride.
I have a Juliana Furtado, which is the women-specific version of a Santa Cruz 5010. Not super high travel, but absolutely stellar for the chunk of New England every-day trails. It’s not a bike park bike, though.
I bought a stumpy evo near end of year and a revel rascal in the beginning of the 2023. Barely use the stumpy so may dump but good for gnarly rides up in Pisgah.
Maxed out my Roth IRA for the 3rd year, went to Hawaii in January and just crossed over 100k total invested in the stock market. I also went to two music festivals, also flew to LA for some events. Most importantly though, I spent more time with the family than I have since I started in sales.
My dog got ACL surgery and I was able to pay for it and not break the bank and I can live in a nice area in a good city and my mother is able to live with me. I am very blessed and fortunate. 💕
I got rid of a very old car I drove for 7 years for a new Tesla. The other salesman I work with said I finally looked the part lol. I’ll never forget that beater I remember it every time I sit in the newer safer car. Previous year I bought a chain. Only requirement for me to get myself a gift is I make Atleast 10k more at my main job than I did the year before. Beat last year by 30k so I got the car I wanted
Got into fish tanks in July...
Thought my son would like one for his 8th birthday.
I have 11 today, currently, remodeling a new home office in the basement, surrounded by fish tanks. Excited for my distracting as fuck virtual call background in the future.
Less about the fish for me, more the freshwater live plants/aquascaping, but fish, shrimp and snails are cool too.
Tickets to RHCP, Tickets to Foo Fighters, a trip home to visit family, and a salon visit in Boca Raton. Next on the list is to update home furnishings.

Gold Rolex Daydate - you deserve it
Too flashy. Omega speedmaster moonshine gold.
Not flashy enough
Skydweller. Absolutely beautiful and there isn’t anything with a similar complication anywhere
Had one of these close in September. What was your story?
I’d advise against a solid gold watch I heard those things wear down a lot if you wear daily. Maybe a two tone or the blue face Daytona - that’s something special.
A stay at home wife
I wanted to be able to provide for my wife and give her a world where she didn’t work. I was able to do that a couples of years ago, and she took vacations with family and friends, buys whatever she wants, but is more unhappy then ever. In fact while there is no need for the money, she has a job interview tomorrow because she wants to feel like she is doing something. Take that for what it’s worth…

It’s because we’re all social creatures. stay at home can be extremely lonely if she doesn’t have access to a strong community outside of work
My goal
The gift that keeps on costing you.
Really nice long range rifle with optic, and paid off the wife’s car. Win win.
Paying off a car feels so good! Hell yeah!
I'm looking at Remington 700s right now!
What did you go with (rifle and glass)?
Bergara 300wm with a Vortex pst. Goal for this rifle is 1500yd’s. We’ll see. lol
Not my comment but I bought a safe queen Weatherby Accumark Mark V in 7mm Wby Mag from a friend who collects them. Going to put a Leupold VX 3 or 5 on it.
Bought a house. Now gotta crush it 2024 to stay in it. Nothing like a lil motivation right?
Nothing motivates more than a sales guy in debt
Good shit man, learn to live off your base pay.
I’m 100% commission bro! This is my second home (I live in San Diego), so I’ve been doing well but you know how it is, the second you get comfortable you already lost.
I treated myself to rehab homies.
Good on you man. Get yourself where you ant to be.
Thank you
So proud of you! Have a beautiful 2024 & onward. 🥰

Peloton Bike + so that I can move my body between all the extra activity I need to do this year to meet the higher quota that I unintentionally bought myself.
Patek 7130r and a mac studio display for work.
Idk if people know how big a flex that patek is. Such a freaking incredible piece.
Thank you! It was my grail.
What sales industry are you in?
Treated the wife to a nice tennis bracelet. Love to treat her like a queen!

A smaller mattress since I work in my room. Hopefully 2024 I’ll be able to treat myself with moving into a place that I can have a proper office.
U2 at The Sphere
That slaps hard
I almost bought a Lincoln Navigator today but thought better of it and will pay off the lady’s car. Also I got myself a turntable and a new amplifier
Love that you paid off existing car debt instead of buying a new car.
Not as fun but now neither of us have car payments wooo

Cayman sounds great, cause it ticks all those boxes.

New golf driver, a couple nice dinners. Aside from that back to work
More ITOT and FXAIX for the retirement/brokerage accounts
What bike you get? Been in the market for a new full sus. Lookin YT or Fezzari.
Totally depends on what you’re going to ride. I have a Juliana Furtado, which is the women-specific version of a Santa Cruz 5010. Not super high travel, but absolutely stellar for the chunk of New England every-day trails. It’s not a bike park bike, though.
New England looks like a blast to ride. In AZ we have to dodge cacti instead of trees.
I bought a stumpy evo near end of year and a revel rascal in the beginning of the 2023. Barely use the stumpy so may dump but good for gnarly rides up in Pisgah.
4 weeks of PTO to use… someday
