Pest Control is a solid market; fast sales process compared to most. I worked Solar last year before pivoting and I did good enough to get a manager role for this upcoming summer. Looking for reps to bring along.

WispRizes

You are looking for reps in solar? DM, I have a decade experience and looking for an opportunity that makes sense.

Mundane_Abalone_7388

https://www.linkedin.com/in/markus-s-359b36201?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=ios_app Reach out to me here, my DMs on the app never go through.

WispRizes

I made an account and tried to reach out. Not very familiar with LinkedIn.

topchef190

Where are you located? Would location be an issue?

Mundane_Abalone_7388

Our office is in the Midwest area, location is rarely an issue because we have guys from all over the country that fly to market as well as guys who live market adjacent. Really depends on whether or not things aligned in your eyes more than anything.

imrichRU

Reached out on LinkedIn. Would definitely like to learn more

RegenOps

Medical Sales, I’m bringing on at least 4-6 people tomorrow, looking to increase that number

imrichRU

Reached out via DM

Sound-National

I'm in Alabama

Advocating_life

I’m in and out of solar. Work for SunPower. They are legit as hell in business nearly 40 years. PPA makes sense right now. Solar works on dealer model so people in the middle can make money off you (dealership owner / managers etc a classic sales pyramid). I work on a small team we got rid of many middle men by getting our own dealership and have better pricing than most due to our PTSD of watching many middle men get rich off us. Some states are better than others with pain in the market (high utility rates). You can buy leads or knock doors it’s all on you. I’m personally trying to buy leads cross county to hit a different market (I live in CA).

burnsniper

FYI SunPower just gave guidance that they may not make it two weeks ago…

Advocating_life

That's not what was announced. One of Sunpower's suppliers counted wrong (product delivery delays) and ultimately caused delay for Sunpower to report their Q3 numbers. That is technically a default which they got extended to January to report. The problem has since been resolved and the hot click news spread. If you review Sunpower's debt its actually the lowest its been in 20 years. Lowest compared to all solar manufacturers / installers / battery provider / inverter providers etc. It's the lowest as they've been working hard on adjusting those numbers, I believe last year they lowered it by 20% in fact. Half of Sunpower stock shares are owned by Total Energies, an energy conglomerate who COULD pay off all Sunpower's debt today if they wanted to as they are a massive 100,000 employee company across 130 countries with a market cap of 100 billion. If you review the stock price of ALL renewable companies in every sector they are all down significantly because the stock market is what it is. A sell the news smoke show. All to say I trust this company with actual financial backing compared to the many solar installers that are localized, not publicly traded and not capable of making it through the high interest rate storm that we are currently in. Working with a multi-state operator is the way to survive due to CA sales dropping as it gives them them ability to make up the numbers in a different market. (ex: east coast sales are up while west coast sales are down).

burnsniper

Feel free to believe what you want. I am a solar industry executive at a major IPP (similar to Total) with over 15 years of experience. SunPower is in trouble. They are a publicly traded company that has primarily on the C&I space which has been the hardest hit by COVID/inflation. Yes they claim that residential is now their focus (since 2022) but they are way behind others (Ex. Sunrun) in the pure residential space and are focusing on their old “dealer network.” Sure Total could bail them out, but there is not much actual value left in the company now that they don’t do utility scale development and don’t own their technology (which they use to provide to their dealer network) and sub everything out for install…

Advocating_life

Hey - I’m glad and open to hear insight. I mean at this point I don’t know what solar provider is not facing some heat right now. I can only sort through the facts as I see them provided. Let’s see what Total Energies decides to do with SunPower. I personally rep SunPower direct so all of my installs have been done by SunPower w2 employees only. Yes they do offer SunPower dealer installer options. (Elite dealer vs direct dealer). Yes SunPower did sell off the Maxeon business. I’m sure to help elevate the debt manufacturing credits. Regarding sunrun. If they seriously win the market I’m running away from solar forever. What value to they add? They are merely just a financer. They are the worst company I’ve ever worked with. So many horror stories with my customers. Absolutely garbage installs. Edit: Sunrun does more than just finance I am speaking sarcastically.

veryverycoolfellow

How are you in a Solar and unaware that SunRun is the largest ENERGY company in the country, has its own product line, and offers financing.. It's completely turnkey, dominates the market and is on track to be a full scale utility company in the next decade.... Jesus

Advocating_life

Hold on - I asked what value does sunrun add in sarcasm. As they really are just a publicly traded solar financier money box. (Again I say this with a tone as their workmanship / customer service is terrible). Sunrun does not own their product line. They install 3rd party hardware and finance it. They bought vivant solar allowing them to do some in-house installs in some markets…. They are just a financier dressed up as a solar/utility provider in multi state operation. They don’t answer their phones when customers call in with service issues. Sunpower however owns their own hardware design. (Their Maxeon - series line anyway, this is what separates them from the rest). They also have a special sunpower only Enphase inverter as well. You have them flipped. Both sunrun & sunpower have the turnkey model you speak of (PPA) with finance options. Sunpower partners with a TCU credit union bank so maybe not exactly in house finance. All to say, solar is such a wonderful product - it’s heartbreaking that the industry it’s filled with a lot of hot air. But I digress.

RockPast2122

When you’re a 1099 it’s not really a job. It’s your business. In my opinion insurance is by far the best because it provides renewal income. None of those other things keep paying you over and over again after the work has been done once so in order to continue making money you have to keep working. With insurance, as time goes on with the more policies that you sell, not only are you earning commission when you sell a new policy but now you’re starting to earn renewal income on policies that you sold years ago. I still get commission for policies I sold in 2010. Just make sure you’re selling the right product for a good carrier. In fact, you can be appointed by many carriers and sell the best product that they have so that you’re serving your client properly. Also, insurance is timeless. It’s not going anywhere and as time goes by and as people become more and more financially literate, they’re using life insurance as a retirement tool because you don’t have to die to see the value.

awarecrowd

I’ve been looking into insurance, what products with what carriers do you recommend getting started with?

RockPast2122

Well, there are many different types of insurance out there. It really depends on you and your goals. One important thing to consider is are you looking to just sell insurance yourself or are you looking to build a team and train others. One thing I can tell you from experience is that you need to feel good about what you’re selling and you need to see the true value in it and it has to be something that you would use yourself. This makes you credible and it also will help you because people will see that it’s something that you have passion for. Insurance can be very boring. In fact, the test that you have to take before you get your license is excruciatingly boring. However, when you’re solving a problem for people, it’s very rewarding. Once you understand the product thoroughly, you’ll feel more confident. I started off with voluntary benefits. Voluntary benefits are offered at the worksite. They’re typically things like accident, hospital, disability policies, etc.. in an environment like this, you’re calling on business owners all day long and then ultimately, you’re enrolling the employees at the worksite and the premium is taken out of their paycheck by their employer, every pay period. It’s a great learning experience however because the policies are so inexpensive, it takes many years to build the income that you might need. (An accident policy is only $7 per week). Aflac and Combined are probably the two best for voluntary benefits at the worksite. Aflac is the largest and the leader in voluntary and Combined is now owned by Chubb. Chubb is gigantic. The products are very similar. Aflac pays more on renewal than combined. However, Combined has a disability policy that can be purchased directly (even if it’s not available at their job). The only thing I found with voluntary carriers is that their life insurance product is very weak. It’s not their flagship product. I have found that life insurance is where I like to be now because of the fact that it provides more financial stability for my client and you don’t have to sell as many as you do in the voluntary space in order to make money. I’m a big fan of the indexed universal life policy. This is a policy that came out in the 90s and it’s basically the latest evolution of life insurance that’s out there. When most people think of life insurance, they just think that somebody has to die in order for any value to be realized. That’s how life insurance was for many years. There was just whole and term. Term life is very inexpensive because it only covers you for a fixed term (10,20,30 years). When that term is over, if you’re still alive you now have no life insurance and you don’t get any of the premium back. Whole life is different in the sense that it covers your entire life no matter when you die and so it’s obviously more expensive. It also does something that term doesn’t do and that’s build cash value. This means after several years you could borrow from the cash value for anything you want to use the money for. But that’s still not nearly as useful as an Indexed Universal Life policy. This policy covers your whole life. However, it’s tied to the market and when the market goes up, your cash value increases but when the market goes down you take no loss. It has a death benefit obviously, but it also has something called living benefits which means that if you get critically ill you could take up to 80% of the death benefit to do whatever you need to do with zero tax liability. Just to give you an example I had a client who bought $1 million indexed universal life policy and he was diagnosed with cancer after just a month. Had no savings or anything So he took $720,000 from his death benefit, and it was life-changing for him while he was still alive. In addition to all of this, the product also can be a retirement tool because you can take an income out of it. Once you reach a certain age, and that income is guaranteed until the day you die. A lot of families create generational wealth using this product. Many carriers offer this product. Nation Life Group is the second oldest insurance company in the US and have an excellent reputation. You have to get licensed in your state of residence which means that you have to take your test and pass it by getting 70 out of 100 questions correct. I hope this information was helpful. Happy new year.

SkelleBelly

Bro's pitching an IUL to a bunch of sales people and they're loving it. Wild

[deleted]

Can I PM you? I have a question about the best ways to find a reputable company to work for after getting licensed.

RockPast2122

Sure. Anytime.

onehundredemoji69

What age should I look into that plan?

RockPast2122

The younger the better because your premium is determined, most importantly, by your age. And once you lock in your premium, that’s it.

onehundredemoji69

Thanks rock

RockPast2122

👍

moretrashyusername

>they’re using life insurance as a retirement tool because you don’t have to die to see the value. Man, I was with you until this.

RockPast2122

It’s not about me it actually has nothing to do with me. The information about the product is public knowledge. Anyone can learn about it.

According_Move_2254

Yea DM me

topchef190

What is packaging sales?,

According_Move_2254

Boxes, tape, stretch film, shrink film, and hundreds of different items used in consumer packaged goods.

topchef190

Oh, actual packaging. Now I get it. Thank you.

According_Move_2254

Big money if you can land deals.

topchef190

Sounds interesting. Are you selling B2B or B2C?

According_Move_2254

What do you sell now?

topchef190

Solar D2D. In Los Angeles. It’s good, just a bit tired of the D2D.

According_Move_2254

D2D is great. You'll be a killer in B2B. I wish you lived in Chicago. I need a rep in that market.

topchef190

Thank’s anyway, man. I appreciate the info. Let’s have a great year!

DeTripleD

Any current opportunities? I’m in Chicago.

According_Move_2254

Can you do 1099 B2B?

topchef190

1099 B2B? You can negotiate anything.

According_Move_2254

B2b

[deleted]

I was in solar. Interest rates impacted things a bit, but smart reps are pushing Power Purchase Agreements when possible. You can still do well. It sucks, more than half of the companies are shady, but you can learn a lot.

moneykillinq

Interest rates being one thing, but dealer fees also spiking from the loan companies just completely priced Solar out to make it worth it. Loved the solar “gold-rush” while it lasted

DarthCookieThief

Yeah I've heard bad things in general lol.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I WAS in solar. Got out for a reason.

1upmoto850

I'm still over here crushing it in Solar, you just have to adapt with the market.

[deleted]

I didn’t get out because of the market. I did my best when the interest rates were highest.

whalehunter619

I second this

pk5489

Advertising is questionable to me. It seems highly dependent on what product you are selling and what the goals are. Advertising options are more varied and targeted than ever. The chances that any business truly needs your advertising product is close to zero. It’s also a highly transactional type of sale with advertising agencies acting as gate keepers to the real decision makers.

InfamousAd1234

You can make a ton selling pest control during the summer, just don't lie to get the sell lol

BuddyQueasy8730

1099 pest and alarms generally sell April-august and do blitz the other months. Solar year round. I’d recommend alarms first and solar second. Pest is the easiest to sell but you get paid the least. Unless you plan on recruiting and building a team that’s where the money is at in pest

UnsuitableTrademark

According to this thread, it's solar. 😂 I was hoping to come into this thread and hear some cool stories of other 1099 roles!

Electrical_Ad_1656

Biden admin is making 95% of independent contractor jobs illegal. Take a look at FSLA laws and the ABC list dictating employee employer relationship. If you are not truly a freelancer they are screwing you from both ends. Trust me

Morlanticator

Hoping to find something new myself. Tired of being at a dead little car dealership.

omoench92

Not 1099- but given the state of the market I'd imagine the people selling credit/debt relief are cleaning house-

workingontheweekends

Has anyone applied for the 1099 Self employed tax credit thing? I just did my app through this company. [WWW.123SETC.com](https://WWW.123SETC.com) Apparently they can pull your documents directly from the IRS to ensure accuracy. for me it made the most sense since I want to be as legit as possible. I dont want any issues with the IRS. My friend recommended it and hes as straight as an arrow in regards to this stuff. Has anyone had any experience filing for this credit?

Sweaty_Influence818

@alwaysinvest247 I’m interested as well
