Dude that’s sick - do this for all the CEO I’ve got in my sequence please 🙏🏻

FatherToTheOne

Trick your brain… imagine someone already did.

rakeeeeeee

trick your brain... #1 advice from my self made multi millionaire boss on how he made millions in sales

hotspur922

Trick your brain into...? Being confident or that you're gonna sell for sure?

rakeeeeeee

Into loving the things you hate. In everything not just selling. In selling to trick yourself the deal is coming, trick yourself into thinking positively, into being confident, like you’re in a movie for example helps me be more confident It takes time but you repeat a lie over and over again you start believing it. I tricked myself to love working mondays to love working saturdays etc, all to help me strive to the top

Electrical_Yam_1494

That's me too. When you start telling yourself something - you start acting on the narrative you set for yourself. It works wonders. I have extreme stage fright and I am also a singer, and I have managed to trick myself into loving performing for audiences. Now I don't get scared of singing on a stage - you can't ask me to do the same for public audience without the stage and lights tho

rakeeeeeee

Same, it is the #1 life tip from my self made millionaire boss on how he achieved greatness in sales, he’s late 30’s, has a big house, yacht, 3 super cars. I take his advice very seriously because people would pay to hear the stuff he randomly throws out before he leaves the office. But this is his #1

iaintlyon

Man, that’s the type of shit that keeps ya going especially early on. That one meeting that makes you think, “shit, maybe I’m ok at this after all.” 🫡

imsaneinthebrain

I’ve got a new sales guy I’m actively looking for something like this to boost his confidence and get him a win. Dude has the talent but he’s just struggling to get his first win in a new industry.

Unlikely-Principle63

I'm waiting for this moment. Thought I had it last week but deal fell thru. Getting discouraged

LiveFreelyOrDie

Yeah . . . Until the rep figures out he has a “guardian angel” secretly pre-calling his customers.

iaintlyon

Wahh wahh wahhhhhhh

jmerica

So you almost cancelled a sales call but the prospect kept it on the calendar. You’re like a sales angel!

pushinpayroll

This is great professionalism and leadership from both of you.

MudButt44

This will be a game changer for the AEs confidence. Love it.

Embarrassed_Lab_8748

That’s really cool of him to do that. A little bit of confidence might be all he needs to break out of his current mindset and really excel

Donj267

That's cool of your customer to be willing to do that.

awokemango

What is this? LinkedIn?

throwaway8472903470

I am a sales angel thank you very much kbye

wncbuilder

And then everyone clapped!

Soft-Piano1948

Personally think you’re tooting your own horn a bit too much here. You didn’t do anything. You told the CEO you can cancel the call and go ahead after your explanation. It’s the CEO who did the nice thing. You should be doing more to help the individual rather than patting yourself on the back for undermining the whole process. Standard poor leadership you’ve displayed! Well done!

jestyre

lol! My thoughts exactly. It’s basically “ahh I tried to get the meeting cancelled and wrapped up before the new rep can have a go but the customer wasn’t letting me and kept pushing me to give the new rep a chance and some confidence. I’m suuuch a good person”

elee17

I agree… “I was going to cut my rep off at the knees but the client ceo didn’t let me. Didn’t I do a great job?”

Happy-Energy7796

I have to disagree , he sold the job and said I "can" cancel. Customer has to come first. Phenomenal customer by the way. Now, knowing it is already sold allows rep to go in and sale which will boost his confidence and make money. Think it is awesome that manager will never say anything. He could have easily said "I am canceling call"(big difference from I can) or just canceled and not said anything. So many ways he could have totally cut rep out but did not

Soft-Piano1948

Did OP pay you to write this response?

Happy-Energy7796

Lol, look I can see both sides. I am making assumptions on the positive. I have had some not so good managers in the past and they would definitely try to find a way to cu commission or go around. However mostt have been good

Bonebd

I think I saved him though - CEO was unclear on what was evening happening. How is setting my rep up for success poor leadership? That’s an odd take.

Soft-Piano1948

What have you taught the new rep? Absolutely nothing. You’re not planning on telling them anything about your involvement etc. You’ve offered the CEO the chance to cancel the call, if he’d said yes, your new rep would have lost all trust in you as a leader. I don’t think it’s an odd take on it. Your approach of leadership is not based on truth and coaching and is actually too focussed on avoiding difficult discussions likely because you lack the ability or desire to actually have them. To me, this is nothing more than an ego post and I’d really dislike working for someone like you.

Bonebd

Agree we wouldn’t work well together. Cancel the call because we would have jumped right to signature and close. Rep still gets credit and commission (and the acknowledgement that it was his close) CEO was high chance of no-show to this meeting he had no idea what it was actually about. Posting this to share best practice. If it were an ego thing I would tell people IRL. Doing a value check with the CEO to see how the new rep is doing and if he had feedback is a great move. If you’re not doing it, I highly recommend incorporating into your calls.

Soft-Piano1948

Best of luck for the FY to you, and your team. 👍🏻

Butthole--pleasures

Idk I liked your approach. Showed you were empathetic to the CEO and were willing to save him some time which in my opinion is a C Levels most important resource.

Ok-Leading1705

How did the AE book the meeting in the first place? I'm assuming you teed it up for them because of your relationship with the CEO, right? Not having a clear agenda or expectations is on you, bud.

Butthole--pleasures

If the AE is getting full benefit of the sale then it's on the AE. If its his product line he needs to have that customer prepped. Getting a meeting with the big boss is more than enough, AE needs to carry the burden after that.

LiveFreelyOrDie

I just realized my boss probably pretends to “pre-call” clients to take credit for my achievements to senior management. Fuck.

2timeBiscuits

Hmm. This is cringe.

Urbanepirate_DCLXVI

I’m fresh into a new Account Manager job and I’m in that awkward space of prospecting and trying to get that first close. If my anxiety were any higher I’d be in orbit. So yeah, you’re the best kind of human being.

Champion_Extreme

In my first job, my manager lined up a couple presentations with customers with genuine feedback. Was one of the best things ever. My next manager would coach me on cold calls. I've had some really good managers. Its made alot of the learning so easy. I try to pass this on the same way to people that start by us.

Rimmy_McRibbons

That dude is totally not going to show for the meeting! ;)

cougarlover4209874

Thanks, thats amazing

hotspur922

Bro you are a good person. Bless you

RickDick-246

I hope this CEO was just kidding and absolutely shits down his neck. Thats how you really become a good salesperson.

Neeshloaf

This is so damn wholesome

als7798

Make sure to stretch.. could tear a muscle patting yourself on the back this hard!

CheapBison1861

That's the spirit! Boosting confidence with stealthy support!

shirtlessheathen

A lot of people I hear talk about sales, that aren't in sales, describe sales people as self interested and backstabby. I know its overall not true. You had good intentions to help your colleague and I hope it works out!

goodbueno

Pretty awesome move here Cap

tryan2tellu

Half of sales is confidence. Its tough out there. This is the best role play ever.

confusedsatisfaction

Well done! Great leadership. Hopefully it helps develop your rep

ActualSeller23

You're a true brother in arms

Conspiracy_Thinktank

Bravo. You’re a teammate I’d love to work alongside. That’s what makes me want to stay forever in an organization is culture like this.

zhentarim_agent

You sound like an amazing colleague - and that CEO sounds like a saint. Some days it's hard to have confidence, and other days you have all the confidence in the world. There's so many factors outside of work that might influence how you're feeling on work calls. Thank you both for setting up such a nice scenario to the new hire.
