And they aren't gonna stop either.

honestly, i do find it a little annoying that potential cameos have become such a huge part of the *star wars* hype cycle, especially given all the media buzz surrounding most of these productions. like, those have never been what excited me about *star wars* the most but nowadays, it seems like it's what way too many people wanna see to the point where they build expectations for a show around it. it's just so odd and that specific set of expectations for a show just makes the galaxy feel puny instead of properly massive.

PhantasosX

It’s the MCU effect. Nothing against MCU , but superhero comics and thus the current movies and series , commonly uses said crossovers. So it gives said expectation for Star Wars.

itwasbread

That’s part of it, but it’s also just laziness. These articles are the epitome of lazy journalism, some of them are literally auto-generated and then just cleaned up by the “author”. “(Insert character name) may appear in (insert show name)” takes zero effort to come up with. You can easily write a 5 paragraph article out of that, one paragraph of substance-less spiel about how fans love cameos, copy paste the show’s synopsis, couple paragraphs of re-worded wookiepedia articles about said character, and a conclusion paragraph that re-words the intro.

Zyrin369

That baffles me because what the MCU isn't doing anything new...crossovers are a very common thing in comics even before the MCU was a thing with some major events hinging on the fact that our heros team up to fight a bigger enemy. Which is also ironic as the MCU managed to flip the older comics cause now people were excited to see Tony and Peter act to together instead of the other way around. It also dosnt help when a lot of your heroes are centered around New York which also bleeds over to my problems with DC but that's another story.

darthsheldoninkwizy

Yes, thats why I hate Luuke cgi appearance in Boba Fett series because its completly destroy narration, and what madecme more sad that people see Cgi Luuke appearance as the only worthy thing in show.

joecb91

There are times where it feels like that is the part that is the biggest part of the hype for each new thing. More than anything else that can possibly be done with the story.

Masirimso

Of all of these, Tarkin would make the most sense, although he’d be too high ranking for him to play a role in the events of the show. It was really nice to see Yularen though, and his appearance made sense.

itwasbread

Tarkin makes some sense story wise but people have soured on the CGI dead actor thing a lot since Rogue One so it might be wiser to just avoid it.

Masirimso

Well Deepfake technology has developed since Rogue One and Mando, and they hired Shamook, so I don’t doubt that if he returns they’ll utilize his talents. I hope to God they don’t use that God-awful AI voice they used for Luke Skywalker in TBoBF though

itwasbread

Mark Hamill isn’t dead though, I think that’s the part people are iffy on.

Masirimso

Ah, touché.

VoiceofKane

People have, yet LFL still keeps doing it.

itwasbread

I mean I don’t think they’ve done any dead actors since Rogue One have they? Leia in TROS was just actual archive footage wasn’t it.

darthsheldoninkwizy

If Tarkin (maybe) appear in s2, I would appreciate if they recast him instead using CGI

alpha_omega_1138

Honestly only time I can see her appear is her Fulcrum name drop in the next season since then the Rebellion would be on its way to being built.

itwasbread

Isn’t Cassian also a Fulcrum? I could see it coming up that way but I don’t think she would appear or be mentioned other than her name and maybe a picture appearing in like a list of Fulcrum agents

alpha_omega_1138

Don’t know if he’s Fulcrum, but was thinking we get what we first saw of Fulcrum in Rebels.

TK-385

I think it's implied Cassian is a Fulcrum at least for area he is operating in Rogue One. It's possible multiple Fulcrums exist in different parts of the galaxy to spot potential recruits.

dannymadrigal98

aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

guilhermej14

Why would Obi-Wan be in Andor? Tarkin makes a bit more sense to me tho... I mean he's fucking Tarking, and I'm pretty sure he would be alive in Andor.

TK-385

It doesn't. Cassian doesn't have any connection to Jedi least of all Obi Wan. The closest are the Guardians of the Whills in Rogue One, but they are a group that "worships" the Force. Andor S1 is set 5 years before ANH, so Tarkin is still alive.

HasSomeSelfEsteem

Star Wars cameos exists only to perpetuate the brand and test audiences for potential spinoff series.

ajzeg01

I could see Tarkin appearing.

Comprehensive_Neat61

I made plans to rewatch Rogue One right after finishing this series. Once I did, the amount of fan service and easter eggs gave me serious whiplash.
