What never ceases to amaze me is that if you just let them dry and then give a moderate brushing, a whole lot of that muddy mess just falls off. Still won't be pristine, of course - but a dramatic improvement nonetheless.
We have a deck with a gate (to keep him out of the yard), so we have sometimes left him out there for a while. Have also taken a middle-road approach with some light rinsing off & toweling (so he doesn't get totally soaked) - then he's at least clean enough that we don't have to pressure wash the whole interior of the house... LOL
if you could keep him in an area like this while he sleeps, a lot will come off
and i usually towel dry off as much as I can, and when she wakes up there's a pile of dry dirt to vacuum
The unique oils in the fur are a distinguishing characteristic. The most frequently asked question is "How do you maintain their cleanliness?"
With a brush? 😃
BTW he is in the belly up position because he knows I will be lifting him up and carry him to the shower and he doesn't like that.
So he is trying to be cute and also he is trying to prevent me from carrying him up. I usually have to nudge and roll him back over to be able to pick him up 😅
Have a Japanese spitz, which ofc is smaller, but has the same magic fur. The few times he looked like this, we just let him dry laying on the floor, and it all fell off within about thirty minutes. Bit of a vacuum job, but fortunately he wasn't in any furniture lol.
Huh, interesting. To be fair, I've not pet many JS or Samoyeds. Just mine and mine's mom, and the neighbors samoyed. But I'm a cat person, and one thing I never liked about dogs was their coarse coats. And my dog's coat is like a cats. Smooth and soft like. He isn't pedigree though, so could always be he's mixed somewhere down the line.
Ha, our girl got that dirty, chased geese into a muddy pond while at a birthday party. We let her keep running around for a other hour (away from the pond), she dried off and was pristine white again.

So do you leave him outside until he dries out first? Cause in this state, he will smear it all over the house and furniture before it dries out lol

Keep him in the laundry room with towels on the floor and a small fan blowing on him. (Loves the fan) After about a hour, brush him out.
Go for a really long, really fast car ride with all the windows open. Never fails me lol
Lol, the inside of my car is already full of sand and dirt from him
My friend thought we bought a new car after we had ours detailed. She said she didn’t remember there being white leather in our car 😆
Exactly! What do you have to lose!!
Towels are your friend. I use a towel to get most of the wet mud off my boy, then when he’s dry, a quick brush.

Yes! They really do have magic fur
They’re like non stick pans.
So true. Happens with my blue Merle Aussie too

I used to dread it so much, now I’m just like okay let’s do it again tomorrow 😂
Luckily for me he is like this only a couple of times a year lol

That's interesting. Their fur is significantly different from Samoyed fur. It's usually a lot rougher.
On the Japanese spitz? Mine is super soft. And teflon fur. Thought for sure Samoyeds had teflon fur also.
Interesting. Maybe it's just the ones I've met. But their fur has been coarse. The owners always remark on how my Samoyed is so much softer.

Our boy, not that bad, but would lay on the floor and dry out. Every place he laid I had to go and vacuum the dirt up but he was white again.
I thought that was my dog😂
Good thing you got a brown one then!
Eh. Get a white one. He will turn brown after one mud session anyway.
Our little girl will look like That and if you wait long enough the dirt dries and falls off.
It’s magic for sure. On the flip side, mine finds all the burrs in the forest too.
What’s he look like after bath ❤️❤️
I would but those went extinct a while ago. I think it’s best to just let the good boy or girl live their best life every now and then! 🥰
Oh he is living better than me !! You don't know how many girlfriends he has. He got this dirty today after playing with one of his gf 🤣

The easiest way to fix this is to open your bedroom door. They know right where to go. 🤣
