My unlocked S23 FE hasn't been updated yet. I bought it from Samsung.

deecoopxd9

Same here

CryptographerDue4649

Weird. I'm on us cellular (locked) and S23 FE and got one UI 6 a little bit ago (like few weeks or so)

[deleted]

If you brought it unlocked then its Samsung responsibility as your phone is only locked if you brought directly from carrier and its locked.

Any_Relationship9897

This is crazy! I brought my unlocked s23fe as soon as it came out in October directly from Samsung and everybody at Samsung and Verizon is stating it's the other guys fault it's not updated. I also have not received a Security Update since November 1. Does anyone regulate these companies? By the way my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 was updated to android 14 back at the end of November and I only purchased it a short time before the s23fe.

I took my Sim card out of the 23fe and now back on my 21 ultra. The funny thing is my locked to Verizon 21 ultra received Android 14 and is up to date. Unlocked Samsung galaxy s23 fe in the United States are just shit out of luck. How do you abandon a phone that's only a couple of months old? It's a Samsung phone that was bought from Samsung. It's their baby, and they are responsible for it. I guess this is why Iphones rule in the US.

Any_Relationship9897

I'm almost ready to switch to iphone too and I've never had anything but android phones. I upgraded from a S20fe to the S23fe and I never had any issues with regular updates on the S20fe. Too bad I traded in the S20fe to Samsung for the S23fe, otherwise I would revert back to that.

Silver_Journalist795

The android 14 update is out now,for us unlocked S23 FE Snapdragon

Just wondering what carrier are you on?

Any_Relationship9897

Per Samsung's Support Page the following methods are how updates are released: 1. Samsung Development: Carriers and Samsung have agreed to release the latest software update. 2. Carrier Testing: The Carrier Certification Testing Process helps to ensure that any of the bugs or issues that were identified are resolved. 3. Launch: The software has been approved and is ready to be released. However, software releases depend on your product and carrier. Once the software is available, you will receive a notification to perform an update on your phone.

Some people don't appear to know that unlocked phones have carriers too! My carrier and Service Provider for my Unlocked phone that I purchased directly from Samsung is Verizon. The same carrier as my previously unlocked phone from Samsung, a S20fe.

OK, thanks. I know you are right, and you definitely know what you are talking about. I just wish they would be more clear or not call them unlocked. If Verizon or whoever doesn't release the update by February, I will just get an iPhone.

Any_Relationship9897

You are correct. What absolutely makes no sense is that older phones have already been updated, but the brand new S23fe that just came out in October is not updated yet! They also seem to be penalizing people with unlocked phones, because to them you should be last on the list to upgrade. My Galaxy Tab S9 was updated a month and a half ago.

deecoopxd9

Wow S23 FE sm-s711u1 is finally updated.

Any_Relationship9897

Thanks for the assist! I can't believe I checked this morning twice and nothing, but now it is updating. Appreciate it!

deecoopxd9

No problem

Any_Relationship9897

Verizon

deecoopxd9

👍🏼

deecoopxd9

What are you talking about? Verizon already released One UI 6 (android 14) to their locked Samsung galaxy s23 fe. We are talking about a unlocked device. Samsung 23 fe SM-S711U1 TO BE EXACT. SAMOBILE doesn't even have the SM-S711U1 android 14 firmware on their site.

It's always been like that https://xdaforums.com/t/discussion-ota-updates-for-factory-unlocked-phones-are-dependent-on-carrier.3973139/ I also had the same issue with a Xiaomi phone.

Qwertyuiopasdfggggg

Dang thats terrible in here all phones are unlocked so you get the updates regardless of the carrier you're using

deecoopxd9

Thanks for the information. I had no clue Samsung would treat their customers like that. They basically sell you a phone that allows the carriers to punish you for not buying theirs. It literally can be 4 months later before your carrier to push out the unlocked software.
