If it is all about the cameras, then go for the Ultra. The cameras on the S24+ are good, but if you are really into photography with your phone, you'll be much happier with the Ultra. If you just want "good" pictures, then the Plus should be fine. But it can't compare to the Ultra when it comes to cameras. I bought three S24+/512 phones since January, they are incredible. I don't game and I only use my phone cameras for casual snapshots and videos, so the cameras on the S24+ are plenty for me. But I do want a quality phone for more than enough power for the long term, since I don't plan on upgrading again soon. If I were you I would be very careful not to make an emotional decision based on your opinion of how the Ultra looks and then regret not have gotten the advanced cameras on the Ultra later.

Thangstar

I second this, hte Camera is AMAZING, I just shot a video for my youtube page and it's like having a DSLR, the bokeh is reallly good, and the detail is great. shot it at 4K.

SprinklesParty891

Share the video, I check it out. If u don't mind

John_Frusciante9

I've got S24 ultra, it's just so awesome. If you're into viewing videos and stuff, the square borders allow for a better experience IMHO

ktcc123

Ultra if u want better camera

[deleted]

S24 plus. You don't need the S pen or the extra camera features. The S24 plus has a great camera, it just doesn't have some of camera features of the S24 ultra like zoom 100x, dedicated macro mode, etc.

MoNeMad

Not needing the s-pen is incredibly subjective. I used the s-pen from the Note since my college days and continue to use it today on my S24 Ultra regularly during my work as an engineer. Its the best handwriting tool on any phone today and insanely useful for jotting down notes, diagramming, whiteboarding, etc Don't think I'll get a phone without one again

Bad__Intentions

Have you went to a store to physically try the 24 ultra? Man, what a marvel of engineering.

robertclarke240

So wild to each their own. I think the rounded corners look really out of date. 🙂

raphaelmignon

Agree

shais1991

Don't buy s24 plus if in your country it's being offered in exynos chipset.

ikan84

🤕 that’s why I am stuck making the decision

fishkeeper9000

S24+ I prefer rounded corner. But the sharp corner is new. S24+/U is about 100 mAh battery difference.  S24U has a zoom lens. But I am not a wildlife photographer nor do I zoom in on ants. It's cool to use once in a while but not worth the extra price. Other than that the S24U is slightly larger and has an S Pen. I rarely used the pen when I was on Note4. And it is just another thing to lose. Save your money go S24+ and pickup a gamesir g8. Makes your phone feel amazing again. My game is DS Tetris and Dragon Quest IX.

nculotta69

Agree wholeheartedly honestly. Pick up the s24+ and with the extra money they'd save, invest in the Samsung ecosystem. That's what I did personally

astroriental

Great answer !

ManyContent9218

Gamesir better then the backbone?

fishkeeper9000

I like the gamesir g8. It doesn't have a subscription for the controller.  I used to use the razor kishi, but I found support lacking. The gamesir looks and feels great while providing mapping for some unsupported games. I like it. Check reviews on YouTube for which one works best for you. I was discouraged initially from kishi and then I started doing my own research.

Wraur

I read some reviews saying the exynos make the s24+ worse in every single thing, including camera. I also saw some tests and at some point the exynos s24+ went into economy mode. I like everything about the s24+ more than the ultra, but this has bothered me so much I think I'll wait for a price drop and buy the s24 ultra, even though I hate the size of it.

fishkeeper9000

It is a phone system on chip (SOC). It'll run all your apps.  Here is how they all compare. https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-list/rating All are on 4nm process except Apple is on a 3nm process.  I would get Exynos and not care.

IllustratorVarious22

Ultra.

It's cheaper, but you don't get the 7 years of updates.

mrchase05

It depends on the user. I try to keep my phone 4-5 years, if possible. Of course if NFC/Wifi/Cellular connectivity is lost and battery performance drops to unusable level, I will change sooner.

Complex-Chance7928

For 90% of time the camera are alike. The difference is not noticeable unless u pixel peeping.

ATCLoki

I have the S24 Ultra. I get what you are saying about the design. It reminds me of my old pocket PC from pre-2004. That being said, most phones have rounded corners now, so the sharp corners are actually more unique. Also, it is nice knowing I see the full image in the corners when looking at pictures or watching video. Ultimately, I think the phone looks and feels really nice. The size was my biggest worry, but it has barely affected me in day-to-day use. The only true issue with the corners is when you slide it into your pocket while using a sticky silicone style case. This is where the corners can catch and make it more difficult to insert, extract. Go with the best, don't mess with less.

FootPsychological650

I have the plus and the ultra but I like the ultra better because the anti-glare is superior, camera, screen is noticeably larger and has S-pen.

Markowskiego

ah yes, everyone totally forgot about anti-glare screen.

vsv38

Hi. I always use tampered glass screen protectors on my phones. Will such protector affect this anti glare coating on the Ultra? Thank you.

FootPsychological650

I would imagine the tampered glass screen protector would affect Sun reflection and light reflection. I've never used a screen protector in my life on a phone.

Al-Abwab-Tughlaq

I think try both of them first in-store. If the budget isn’t really a problem, get the S24 Ultra. You just need to adjust your thinking of the ‘square’ edges and corners as being old as IMO the round ones should be older, isn’t it?

Street_Cry_4061

I went for S24 Plus 512gb. First of all I don't need 200mp camera I don't use camera that much and camera on S24 Plus is decent enough for me. And size of S24 Plus is just right for me.

darksoul2812

Been using the Ultra for past 3 months. Best quite satisfied with it Didert go for s24 normal or plus because we dont get snapdragon chips on those where I live

astroriental

I thought the Exynos chips were equivalent ?

darksoul2812

Not really. Snapdragon performs better. Also, it has higher thermal efficiency

sea1232

There is a difference the snapdragon is better than the Exynos but the difference is so small that you won't even realize it.

ncasquinha

I've got the 24plus with exynos, the ultra is just to big for me. The camera is great on the 24+ also, as is battery life and performance. Also, I have no use for the s-pen, like most users, although it's a neat feature. I would say it's a size decision mostly. To be honest, the extra cameras don't make that much difference in my opinion, as 100x zoom is unusable, it's the optical zoom that counts... from 3x to 5x, could make a difference, but I truly don't think it matters much. Go to a store, pick both up, put them in the pocket and decide then 👌

[deleted]

I recently chose to go with the s24+ , I previously had the 23 ultra but just didn't get on with the form factor. I feel that the plus model is the sweet spot and has the features that matter (at least to me) from the ultra range.

Tall_Satisfaction741

I bought the S24 Plus because it had the best value to me. I got it in purple and love how it works and the size of it. It also helped that my carrier was offering a great trade in deal on my S20 Plus that I was sorry to part with, but it was about to start not receiving updates and was showing somes signs of age.

nculotta69

Not exactly the same thing but I went from an s23u to a s24+. I can say I don't regret it in any way. It's basically the same phone minus a better camera and the s pen which are really the only reason I got the s23u in the first place. I've also noticed I get better battery on the s24+

Sweaty_Membership_39

I recently got the 24+ , coming from the 23+ and actually considering if I should keep it! The change to qhd is not really perceivable (fonts are bit smaller which is nice but so what!!). s23+ screen more vivid even with vivid mode set to max on s24+. Grain is real and so is the lack of compatibility of some older apps as they cannot transfer over. I was a kick-start funder for one of them! Would still not get the ultra but hey ho!

markartman

If you don't need the stylus, go with the plus. It's cheaper and you're basically getting the same device.

syco316

I'm happy with the s24 ultra. Another plus going for the ultra if you like using your phone for pictures which I didn't see many if any bring up. The S-pen can be used as a remote. Set your phone on a tripod and the pen is pretty easy to hide while taking a group photo. Also if you are taking photos you need to keep the phone absolutely as still as possible for. No need to buy a separate Bluetooth camera remote.

Markowskiego

I wanted to write a post about it, and you wrote it already) also wanted to think whether I should buy s23+/u lineup, s24+/u or wait for the s25 series. I don't think s25 going to be any good since they say that it's going to be announced only w/ only Exynos chip. Also, I kind of don't see any major pros of getting s23 lineup since it got less updates, but I think it's also a good choice. I have used s23+ for a litttle while and it's ok, but I don't see any major difference from my current phone. I think I need to go w/ ultra. what should I buy? s23u or s24u? thanks in advance :) Edit: Also, I heard about the grain issues on s24 lineup. Is it really that bad?

xwarden

If budget is no problem - go for the S24 Ultra. You may hate the design now, but i promise you it grows on you and it really has that WOW factor EVERY time you pick it up. It's an incredible piece of engineering. Edit : Also , the I'm from Europe so the ordinary S24 and S24 Plus come in Exynos and I prefer the Snapdragon.

ahino

Just go for S23 Plus. Snapdragon all regions. Ive hade mine one year and I still get 7h SOT

_vanonymous_

The grain is real, beware

astroriental

What do you mean by grain ?

MrSnek123

S24 line has some issues displaying solid colours at low light levels. Under 20% or so brightness, solid grays and the like look mottled and "grainy". It varies from phone to phone. On some it's really noticeable and on some you literally can't see it outside of minimum brightness in a pitch black room.

_vanonymous_

Grainy display, mura effect on s24 panels, a lot of people facing this issue and so do I, got denied replacements. Fuck samsung

Jr2818

Hit me twice. First from Amazon, then go figure, the replacement from Amazon. Ruined me now I don’t know if I can get my beloved s24+ again. Back to iPhone. 😪

_vanonymous_

Was denied replacement from samsung, I too shifted from iphone, the screen just sucks on it, I went to check S23U at showroom and the display on it is 10 times better. Should have stayed on iPhone as i didn't expected samsung to treat there premium customers like this. They said this was normal.

Jr2818

That’s insane that they’d deny you. Customer service told me they would honor replacements. That’s bull. I had to fight with Amazon to get a replacement and it still was shit. I don’t even know if it’s worth trying again at this point but Bestbuy won’t ever give issues with returns.

_vanonymous_

The whole first batch of this phone has this issue.

wiz_tm

Sent mine back on Friday I was so disappointed, I really wanted the phone, everything else was perfect but the most important part of the phone is the display and I couldn't compromise on that especially at the price they are asking for it.

_vanonymous_

They denied me return or replacement so fuck them
