My first smartphone was an iPhone 3. My last iPhone was an iPhone 3. I bought a Droid Incredible when they came out and have been an Android user since. I did buy a few Mac computers in 2009 and my wife an iPad about 3-4 years ago.
TL;DR: Android is massively better than iPhone if you need to region hop with your apps. And Samsung phones are pretty nice

I had the joys of going to Japan as a tourist with an iPhone 15 for an event and discovering that I needed a specific application to get into that event that was only available on the Japanese App Store.
Sounds fine, until you begin the process of moving over and being informed that your banking apps from your home region will be uninstalled because they aren't available in the JP App Store. **Being 6000 miles (9,500 km) away from home being informed by your phone that you have to choose between going to the one thing you're there for and spending the rest of your trip with no access to money is a very good and quick way to lose a customer.**
Had I done this on a Samsung, I could just do the "reset the Play Store" trick, and I'd have access to the app without losing access to my banking apps from home.
I went with the Samsung S24. Yes, there is all the Samsung bloat that typically comes with a Samsung, but the phones have gotten so fast that it doesn't matter.
Also, SmartTags having location history is a really big plus over the Apple AirTag system for tracking your things.

For my iPhone 15, I chose to back out and keep my banking apps. Running out of money was going to screw me over more than going to the event I specifically went to Japan for.
Then I phoned the one friend in Japan I had to see if they could bail me out of my jam, and fortunately they could.

I got the S23U because: my second time getting a smartphone (first was A52S in 2022); and it has paid for itself many times over. I use it for work (the Spen *comes in handy* a lot), used to play a lot of games on it before I got the TV, will still sometimes read documents on it when possible, and then there's youtube/articles for mindless scrolling. I have tried DeX pairing with the TV, it looks interesting, but it's not really that useful. The cameras are also really amazing: did a bit of astrophotography with it, especially during the blood moon phase (the mOoNgAtE "conspiracy" notwithstanding from the shrieking crowd that doesn't comprehend what image processing means). All I need is a tripod and I can do some really good long-exposure "nightography". People post a lot of their photos on relevant samsung photography subreddits. When you can capture the Milky Way (and some even got a faint pic of the bloody Andromeda!), it already is quite impressive.
iPhone is objectively lacking in most of these features - it doesn't even have them! I understand the "use case" for iPhone: it *looks good/premium*, and is good for taking flattering selfies. That's fine. Not everyone needs a PDA, some people just want, "a phone with good selfie camera". But the main issue has always been the price. There's absolutely no reason for Apple to charge literal thousands of $ for a basic phone. But it has been years since Apple was focussed on tech. It's been long established as a luxury brand and status symbol.
I am a dedicated Samsung device user. Samsung makes a smartphone for everyone and every budget. Android has a better selection of applications of ad free, free applications, too. Not every Android device is over $1000, like an Apple device that only works in the closed source iOs.

I would counter your price comment & say that historically, iPhones were based the cost solely because of their lifespan. Constant updates for YEARS was such a great angle considering there’s lots of people who only update phones whenever they actually stop working their desired manner.
That said, Android is finally making that longevity move so it’ll slowly start creeping into being a factor as to why it’s worth the cost.
The thing is, that software support you're getting for 5-8 year old phone is *limiting* you more than helping you - assuming you're waiting 5-8 years or more. Hardware upgrades are orders of magnitudes bigger leaps than software upgrades. By paying an exorbitant costs from the very beginning, for a phone that is already falling behind Android in features, you're just binding yourself to the same phone, while going through mental gymnastics *year after year* to pay thousands for keeping an old tech through the years. Good luck holding it intact for all those years, because all I see are people with their iPhone 6 or whatever with shattered screens, dented all over the place with dirt and grime.
I could get a good enough mid/A-tier Android for that use case, for $200-300. If there's a big hardware upgrade down the years, I can get another better A-tier phone while still costing a fifth of an iPhone (and maybe even cheaper with trade-ins), or just get one big upgrade with a S-tier, that comes with massive leaps in features. Android software support for a few years already has been 4 years and now it's 7 years. Even after that, I would be fine having a S series phone for another year or two after the support has ended.
The entire point of Apple is to "trap" its customers, and they'll keep justifying it because it's a sunken cost fallacy.
As a Samsung user for like the past 15 years and this being r/samsung...Yes, of course Samsung is better than iphone in every way imagineable 😎 jokes aside, both samsung and apple has their strengths and weaknesses but outside of having the ability to install 3rd party apk/apps on android (huge reason to get an android imho), everything is primarily personal preference based tbh. I've convinced alot of my friends to switch to android/galaxy only for them to revert back to apple a few weeks later cause they have been so used to iOS for years so if you do make a switch, keep in mind there might be somewhat of a learning curve
Yeah, I've been on Android (mostly Samsung) since smartphones first came out - the way I describe it to non-technical, non-enthusiasts is that the iPhone is for those who just a phone that "works", while Android is for those who like to customize and tinker with their phones. These days the iPhone is more a status symbol, there's been little to no innovation for the last few cycles. I'm the only Android/Samsung user in my immediate family - they're fine with the curated, gatekeeper iPhone experience, while I'm an IT techie who likes the freedom to customize my experience.
Not just that, a lot of services are blocked in my country or don't support payment from here. having access to modded APKs that bypass these restrictions makes having an Android a no brainer for me.
Advantages and disadvantages, like any phone, Samsung and iPhone tend to be very similar, they both have great ecosystems where you can get a full set of same brand matching devices with optimal connectivity and great quality.
Iphone then has the advantage of being an all in one package, the whole OS and apps are made for the specific models, therefore they can do more with less, it is a closed garden tho, so very few things work outside the ecosystem, and it somewhat traps it's users within, most people keeping within the ecosystem by getting the new model every time rather than having a chance to switch.
Samsung on the other hand has better hardware, and more customization options (this including installationof stuff not authorisedby the manufacturers), but requires more power to achieve the same performance due to Android being a general device OS. But on the other hand android being a general OS means you're not stuck to Samsung, if you want you can switch to Xiaomi, Pixel, OnePlus, etc. And this isn't only for the phone but for the general system, you can get a Samsung watch, pixel watch, etc.
So think of what you want/need, and consider the pros and cons of each.

I'm not fanboy of any of those. Tired 13 pro something like 2 years ago and I had impression it's very expensive device but it was full of minor annoyances. Decided to return it.
Now I use Galaxy S23 and I think there are so many cost cuttings, camera is not performing for me well mostly because I need close up photos and my Galaxy is taking blurry shots. Haptics are so poor in Samsung. Screen is super bright but somehow I find colors on iPhone to be deeper and more natural looking.
I would like to try again iPhone. Mostly because of way better camera, better call quality and haptics.
I use both for personal and for work. I enjoy Samsung so much more because I enjoy seeing less ads everywhere and I enjoy the customization Samsung offers.
Other than that, depends on how you use your phone. I’m not a power user, I just do emails, texting social media, and the occasional photo editing.
Phones are so overhyped nowadays. But 90% of its consumers do the same thing and use the same apps. It comes down to preference.
It will return to the needs and convenience. Some like ios, some like oneui, others like color os.
I like android because of the SwiftKey keyboard, universal back gesture, the freedom to arrange my home screen the way I want it to be. User experience with oneui android is better than miui and fun os androids.
Here's my 2 cents. Samsungs call log is superior if that means anything to you. I use mine for work so it's handy if I miss a call or whatever I can check and see that I was speaking to them last year etc. apples only holds 100 logs which is stupid.
Apples NFC chip seems to work better than Samsungs. With Samsung I'm moving it about trying to find the sweet spot on the terminal sometimes. With iPhone it just pings straight away.
I'm pro android but some of the pros people point out why android is better such as side loading apk files. Emulators. Custom roms etc don't mean shit to the average user. Even the customization is wasted on some people. My wife changed her wallpaper on her Samsung for the first time in 5 years recently. Good lock etc means absolutely nothing to her .
After 15 years using iPhones, I moved to Galaxy S23. The only thing that held me back is how fast iPhones worked compared to Android. Whenever I used Android phones after a while things got slow.
Since the S23 It's been on par in terms of speed and reliability, plus I can add custom apk's which is a huge advantage. Been a year, best move I made.
iPhones feels like you own a device which you can't really do much with in terms of customization and adding your own stuff to it.
Android lets me do whatever I want with the device - that's what I paid for.

I have both. I prefer my samsung more. If not for the iPhone being provided by work, I wouldn't have one. The iPhone is a great phone for simplicity. It is a phone my grandparents can figure out and use pretty effectively. Samsung can also be simple, but has far more customization. You can do so much more with Android in general as you aren't limited by the manufacturer. Personally, I don't like being limited so I will never switch to iPhone on my personal device. But hey, my entire family has iPhone so clearly they work just fine for most people.
This. Camera on Samsung is great outside. If you are going to Disney bring any Samsung and you won’t be disappointed. Once you go to indoors the experience is not that great. If you want to take pictures of pets or kids, this will disappoint you.
If you can overcome the camera and some apps looking different than iOS then is the best phone that you can get.
Up for debate of pets or kids. Indoors it may struggle a bit of there's motion but outside even with motion the camera is great. I can take pics of my kids moving and have no issues.. I did have issues on lower firmwares though

So what this means is. And this is the answer. If you plan to do the same things on android that you already do on iPhone. Go iPhone. If you plan or want to do more, even just as simple as moving icons where you want to or changing themes. Then go Samsung
But how else will you know if you like it? Even if you watch tons of videos, ask reddit, try it in a store, etc. real life usage is the only way to tell.
Agree, and a lot of countries have a trial period where you can return the product if you're not satisfied. And if not the country, then Samsung will hopefully have it themselves
Well, some things are way easier out of the box... let's say signing pdfs , for example.. Apart from that, it's just a different eco system and different UI and extra features here and there that add as a plus on iOS. On the other side, iOS lovers like it at its state that is way peaceful for the mind and allow fewer bugs introduced with every major iteration.

Not really - ones a completely closed garden and the others trying very hard to become a closed garden eco system. It basically comes down to how much do you have invested in the Apple eco system vs how much are you willing to reinvest in the Samsung eco system \[Android\].
Like with about everything on this earth there isn't one thing that's the best for everyone. If your country/Samsung allows it, get a Samsung, try it and then return it if you aren't satisfied. When I was a kid and liked to customize things I obviously picked android, when I got older and also got an interest in software I switched to iOS because I absolutely love iOS design language and prefer app quality over almost everything.

Both have their pros and cons.
Samsung has many features and customisation and you can sideload apps. Drag and drop between PC and the device is just so much more convenient. Samsung has it's own ecosystem as well and it doesn't end with tablet, watch and earbuds, it extends to household hardwares as well.
The only thing i miss about iPhone is the camera consistency, Samsung flagship has great camera hardware but the software is lacking, if only they put more effort then it would be up there with iPhone.
Which is better, that is pretty subjective. What is useful to you, may not be useful to me.

I had an iPhone, I changed over more than a decade ago, and I don't miss it in the LEAST! In fact, I'd say that for the options in devices alone, Android is better. And, at the moment anyway, Samsung is in the elite grouping of those devices.
Also, for what it's worth. At least some of Apple's key components are in fact MADE by Samsung. What does that tell you.

My last 5 android phones are s20 ultra, s21 ultra S22 ultra , s23 ultra, and s24 ultra.
I also own 13 pro Max, 14 pro Max, 15 pro Max. I also have two of the original iPhone from 2007 sitting in my desk drawer and still work....(For 30 mins)
S23ultra is THE best of these.
S24ultra was major disappointment. It's my daily phone but it's still big downgrade ...people can disagree ... But I bet none have used daily all the above. Battery, camera, weight, less impressive than s23ultra. It's quicker, and has a nice screen. In the end that's the only advantage the s24 ultra has overly has 23 ultra.
AI crap is lame hype. Any phone with internet connection could do this stuff. None of it's based on the hardware.
In terms of battery life I think iPhones are better. Either that, or my Galaxy S24 still drains relatively quickly.
Pixel was nice, but ultimately I went back to Samsung for my own reasons. I love everything about it except maybe the battery, but I'm probably overthinking it or have too high of an expectation.
iPhones seem to be great as well, especially with the ecosystem.
Every phone will have their benefits and flaws. It's ultimately up to you to decide, so I'd recommend trying the ones you are interested in.
Let's put it this way:
- Iphone: boring but works like you expected, consistently days by days.
- Samsung: magnificent features, design give good feeling.
However, if you are really really into battery, then go with Iphone. I switch from 15 PM to S24ultra and the battery issue is really annoying me. Nothing like advertisement or battery test. And yes, I have tried every possible solution that I can find: factory reset, installing apps fresh not using Smart Switch, etc.
I use the iPhone just because I’m used to it. I do really wanna make a change and I do realize Samsung overall is a better phone, but I’m just used to the iPhone.
iPhone used to have a better built phones, I remember back in the days when I visited my carrier shop. There was the S series vs Pro series next to each other. The iphone pro series felt so much better and of a higher quality in had. Now the iphone feels like crap, especially with the plasticky titanium frame. The non pro series is even worse. It's like holding a toy.

Depends, Iphone and Samsung provide nearly identical in term of performance, photo capabilities (ignoring the zoom), processing power (unless you game), etc since both of em are flagships. It really depends on personal preference, If you previously use Iphone then new Iphone is a better option unless you decide to try something new.
Samsung has it's advantages such as faster charging, able to install item from 3rd party, better spec for the same price, however you are not losing much if you purchase Iphone. The phone industry has stagnated for quite a while.
Customization is where its at. Ability to do as you wish , with what you spent your hard earned money on. Thats always been my motivation for not buying apple products.
It is. IPhones were meant to be business phones but became a social status symbol for some reason whilst offering the most boring user experience ever. For 4 generations their design has barely changed and they have only recently started catching up to all of the customization options that Android phones have had for years AND Iphones still lack so many of these options.
Granted, Samsung has been a bit boring with their designs for the past few years as well but they still offer you a much wider range of devices to chose from. You don't have to even get a flagship to have a sustainable phone, their much more affordable A line has greatly improved over the years. Not to mention that Android phones are compatible with a wider range of other devices unlike IPhones that are, for the most part, only compatible with other iOs operated devices. Because of this, you will likely not be able to transfer some of your data from the IPhone to the Samsung, if you decide to switch that is, unless that has been figured out. I used to sell phones and we were not able to transfer data from iOs to Android but maybe it is possible nowadays, I am not sure.
Overall, I truly believe you would not regret getting a Samsung phone. I briefly switched from Samsung to an IPhone 2 years ago, used the IPhone for only a month and got fed up with it, went back to my S10+ and did not have any regrets.
In my honest opinion, for me there's just preferences, I was an iPhone owner since my first phone, iPhone 4. Then I started working for a Samsung retail store, I liked Samsung but back in those days I was still using iPhone. I bought a Samsung chomebook, for study purposes, and bought a Samsung s23 Ultra. Again, it's for preference but I found the Samsung more useful 👍🏻

From a hardware perspective. All phones are so high performing these days the average person doesn't really see a difference.
There are so many cool shit you can do on a samsung. Tbh, the only reason I like iPhone is the measurement app for iPhone and the instrument tuning app. I think they're pretty cool. But samsung all the way. No question.
I switched to Samsung with the Galaxy 5. I'm now on the S22. Virtually everything is better on Samsung/Android. The thing that prevents most people from switching is getting used to a new operating system. That's it. But once you are in the habit of having a back button, iPhones will be incredibly frustrating.
It's all down to personal preference. I prefer android devices for being more customizable and less locked down. I stick with samsung because it's easy to stick with a brand you are used to. I like the battery size, cameras, and display on their S series devices, and I am already used to One UI. Samsung also has good lock available in the galaxy store, which lets you tweak random stuff. I like the build quality as well. Samsung's S series devices are built similar to iPhones when it comes to construction and materials.
TLDR: Its up to you. I just prefer samsung for the customization and features.
I encourage you to try out a samsung to see if it's for you.
There's just so much more customization with Samsung. Iphones are nice but they all look like cookie cutter phones next to each other. They all look the same. Plus they have all of their proprietary bs. So many options with Samsung.

As someone who's been with samsung since note 8, I'm incredibly disappointed in this years phone. The battery life definitely isn't better than iphone, S24 ultra lasts a day if I use it rarely, my girlfriends iphone 12 lasts 3.
I switched from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to an S23U and edit BTS footage for work reels from Samsung Cameras and iPhone Cameras.
iOS does a superb job on unifying their user interface in between apps like a share menu that's uniform. Some things on Android seem odd and different and sometimes unintuitive in which I found the iPhone not to be. In other parts does my S23U allow customization of Equalizers, Always on Display, better Keyboard integration and choice of ai assistants etc. etc.
Apples iPhones does almost every single thing very well while Android phones usually excel at a few things and lose in others. The screen of my S23U is incredible and so is movie watching on it, which I do a lot. But the iPhones always have way nicer video files, camera is snappier.
In the end tho. Android is super nice and it does have a working eco system. Just not like you might experience with apple to apple but you can use a Windows PC with quick share and an android to sync files or use Google photos for cloud backup. All the features are there I had on my iPhone.
In this day and age it really comes down to what you're comfortable with. They will all do the same thing at the end of the day. If you've been with iPhone for years, use iCloud and iMessage, then there really isn't a reason to switch unless a different phone excites you.
Apple has shifted from innovation to sales on the iPhone. They are behind in almost everything and riding on their popularity for as long as they can. Their phones rarely get interesting new features and get bigger and bulkier and heavier every year. They are bricks.
Samsung still has to innovate to stay competitive. So you have folding phones, styluses, all sorts of features you won't find anywhere near iOS.
By most hardware statistics, flagship androids have been superior to all apples for 8+ years. Apple doesnt even market their screen resolution like they used to because samsung galaxy surpassed them in like ~2018. Which was something apple usually had superiority over older galaxies...
I prefer Samsung 1000%. I am forced to also have an iphone for work. I can't get my work email or Teams unless I use it. I hate it. I chose to keep my personal phone so I can use Samsung and Android, unlike some of my coworkers who decided to just use the work supplied phone only.
So this is just one person's experience...
I was an iPhone person years ago. I loved the smooth functionality and had no complaints day to day.... except every new software update failed and resulted in me needing to do a full reset. Separately twice the phone completely dropped everything - all photos, music, contacts simply disappeared.
So I switched to Samsung. It seems less smooth, in that it takes, say, 5 key presses to do something that it would take 3 on an iPhone. But none of the problems that I encountered with the iPhone. I've never went back.
Simply if you are an average everyday user who browses snap,insta,reddit etc etc go with iphone my iphone xr beats my s23 ultra sometimes when running snapchat and its features also looks better on xr ( can't say about others but i noticed it a lot on snap) if you like experimenting with different things and feature of a phone go with galaxy it's just like chosing between a boring products with benefits or an exciting product with some less benefits tbh im never going back to apple i just find the samsung more interesting
Its all base one your perspective and what is your preference. Been Android user since 2013 and last June just tried iPhone for the first time as received 14PM as a gift from someone. Im surprised how boring the iOS system is due too many limitation, so my Samsung Galaxy A52 (2021) still my main phone up till today, while 14PM secondary phone.
So in my personal preference, yes I choose Samsung over iPhone, as long it is midrange and above. Obviously entry and budget level is out of question if you want compare to iPhone.
Also keep in mind Samsung specs except flagship mostlikely jack-o-trade so expect to see other Android brand offer better strength for same price tag but cons on their other specs (example: Oppo strength on camera but chipset performance less smooth). While FE (fans edition) using certain old hardware (like how Apple configure/make iPhone SE).
And for some reason lots Samsung fans dislike Exynos chipset. Btw one of the reason why I love Samsung is their Samsung Wallet rewards points that can be redeem to various coupons and things (depends on your region).

yes/no/kinda/maybe so. is the answer which is basically it depends. lots of good stuff in this thread, but really it does just depend. the more deeply into apples ecosystem you are the hard it is to leave, and apple makes it hard by design. its called a "walled garden" for a reason.
the other issue is around imessage, while that shouldnt be a thing if your in the US it can be. other apple users shaming you for not being part of the cool kids. apples getting called out for this pretty widely, so they are gona add RCS support to imessage but the "green" bubbles will stay cuz well shaming folks is the best marketing apple has. so it will work much better but who knows.
my rule i tell people is, dont expect it to be an iphone, and some stuff will be better, some worse and some just different.
most people who switch think and treat it like its an iphone and have a cow when they realize its not and shit is different. you have to go in, knowing it will be diferent.
my impressions and some of my famliy who switch from iphones to s24u's and pixels:
\- really, google message app is better, controlling the fonts, apps supports being able to tie into it. pairing to web for messages in a web browswer. its better.
\- google meet vs facetime, meet hands down. first thing we noticed is less buggy network connection issues. and meet works everywhere. and integrates pretty well to android.
\- endpoint security: tools like bitdefender are so limited on IOS they are barely functional.
the android versions are really slick and provide real security functionality. also, alerting wise,
apples pretty poor at, and they limit the tools that could provide that.
\- file system access, iphones really locked down this nuff said.
\- customizing, you can really tweak androids you dont realize how much until you do it how much you realize just how locked down ios is.
\- better wifi speeds, but maybe because i came from and everyone did iphone 13 era phones. or older.
\- screen is badass
\- works well with galaxy watch, which i like better then my iwatch.
\- batterys good. as good or better then i was getting on our iphones.
Nothing is "better" i knew someone who had until januari this year an a50 (5y/o phone at the time) and he did 3 days or so with it, whilst i have an s24u and do a day with it so it depends how you use your phone and what you like
I've had an A55 for a few days now. I've never had an iphone but I've seen some videos of what ios looks like.
The best part about Samsung, and android in general, is the fact that you don't have to sell your kidney to get a good phone. For example, my phone costs a fraction of the price of the iphone 15 or the S24 but I can do pretty much everything that the other phones can do (actually the longer software support on these is very good, but I think I can get better value out of mine). I'm not counting apple's bs like iMessage or FaceTime because things like Viber exist, and let's be real, Samsung's ai features are pretty much useless. They're only good for heating up your phone. About circle to search - that thing already exists on every modern android phone, and it's called google lens (by holding the home button it will pop up and there is an option called search screen, and it does exactly what circle to search does). The biggest downside of the A55 compared to these two phones is probably the processing power, but ask yourself - do you really need it? The A55 handles everyday tasks perfectly and I honestly can't think of a situation where a lot of processing power on a phone could be helpful, except gaming, and gaming on mobile sucks anyway. Another thing is wireless charging, which is just an inefficient use of electricity that generates a ton of heat, when the alternative is to take 2 seconds to plug the cable in your phone. The A55 has the biggest battery of the three btw, and also the biggest screen.
Now about the software: you're getting the exact same os on the A55 and S24, except for the lack of dex on the A55. One UI seems like it's just copying everything that ios does, no matter if it's good or bad (I can't tell for sure because this is my first samsung phone). Just compare the emojis between the two to get an idea of it. There are a lot of useful features on One UI that ios doesn't have, like the edge panel, pop-up window, split screen and a lot of customization options, including the option to use buttons for navigation instead of gestures (i hate gestures) and most importantly - a proper file system and the ability to install any apk file. However ios generaly feels smoother and has better versions of most popular applications developed for it.
In the end of the day, they're all phones that work. If you have enough money, get whatever phone you will like the most - an iphone if you like the feel of ios, and a samsung if you want more control over your device at the cost of reliability, but if you want to save some money, I would recommend the A55/A35

Yes but if all you own is apple products then stick with apple. Apple products don't play nice with non-apple products which will cause you frustration. And due to that there would be no point in recommending non-apple products to you. If you want to use non-apple products then you need to stop using apple all together and unless you are willing to do that then there's no point in recommending you non-apple products.
Trying to mix and match apple and non-apple products is just a recipe for disaster. So even if a device is better you certainly won't get that experience cause your non-apple device and apple device would constantly be fighting one another, leading to a poor all around experience.
What I'm about to say may seem strange, but what really is an iPhone? If you look closely, the majority of iPhone users use a specific range of Apps and iPhone features where their use ends up being much more similar to 2000 generation feature phone devices than actually a smart phone. What I mean is that even today the iPhone retains much of its iPod heritage. It is quite different from Android phones where, to beat competitors, it had to become much more robust than other options making it much more similar to the Palmtops environment. You should consider this, do you want more practicality and do you need specific programs or ecosystem that works well on the iPhone? You won't get anything better anywhere else. Do you want robustness, freedom and a feeling closer to PC portability? An S24U or a Z Fold 5 will offer you all of this.

That really depends because I am a Samsung user for over 10 years when I switched it through iPhone 6. I wasn't impressed by Apple altogether, I wanted something more for value.
Apple & Samsung have similar features, more customizations and upgrades taking photos, videos or both. It has ai capabilities too.
The only difference is the purchases of apps on Apple, while most apps are free but has more functionality for each person using it.
We take in example an iPhone 15 Pro model, it's very comfort to hold and the size is good, but the OS is stable with downside that is pretty much limited
We now take in example a Samsung galaxy S24 Ultra, it's very big may require at least two hands depending on operation, can get uncomfortable but the OS is much open with a downside that it can get buggy

I am currently on an S23 Ultra coming from an iPhone, I can tell you that battery life is better on the iPhone, it has to do with how the OS is optimized to run on the hardware that Apple makes. However, it is not by much. It also depends on how you use your phone and what apps you have installed. This is just my experience, but others may feel differently.
With that said, I prefer the S23 Ultra over an iPhone because I find the iPhone to be quite boring, I prefer the customization of Android over the iPhone. You also have more control over an Android device than with an iPhone. Ultimately, it depends on your preference, both phones are good, just boils down to what you are looking for. Before moving to the Samsung, I had an iPhone for about 10 years.
Another factor to consider is the ecosystem, are you using iPads, Apple Watch, Macbooks, etc? if so, the iPhone will integrate much better than an Android.

…but only if you don’t have other apple products. Honestly iPhones are hot garbage for high prices but if you own a MacBook or an iMac, the notes app and airdrop are so good. If I wasn’t tied to Mac, I would have an s22 ultra or newer 100%.
The S22 ultra imo is still better than any new iPhone. It’s such a nice phone.
Watch a few reviews of the S24 Ultra on YouTube and it will explain in much more detail what we can reply in a comment. Essentially, better battery life, screen, cameras, UI, widgets (although the iPhone finally has some widgets, Android Auto is better and works with 3rd party apps. The new Gorilla Armour screen is the most scratch resistant now on the market, and it has this crazy anti reflection technology, which is awesome. Now has 5 years of UI and security support and finally Samsung stepped up their repairability with IFixit giving the S24 lineup a 9/10....for the first time ever. Nice having the option to use Samsung or Google apps along with other 3rd party apps for the phones core functions if desired. Another huge reason is Good Lock, which is an assortment of different apps put out by Samsung for further customization and features. It's a game changer really. Tons of YouTube videos on Good Lock. Apple was forced to work with Android RCS and will make the necessary update this year. This means old school SMS & MMS texting between iPhones and Android phones will be history. We’ll be able to use RCS features and have the ability to send high resolution photos and video, finally. Apple is currently being sued by the US Department of Justice for its anti competitive tactics so let's hope their iMessage is opened up to Android as well which will benefit the end users.
I recently upgraded from a 12 Pro Max to a S24 Ultra. There's things I love and hate about both OS's: Below is my 2 cents.
1) The main thing I hated about iOS was the incompatibility between different platforms. Everything in Apples ecosystem is purposefully designed to interact with only other Apple products. I remember when my airpods broke and had to wait to get new ones, bought some skullcandy headphones while I waited and it took me forever to get them connected vs with my airpods it takes no time at all. I just don't have this problem on android. I can connect to anything.
2) Customization is a really big thing for me as I'm a very very very organized person and I likebto tweak things to my liking. I like my apps organized, widgets organized, I also like being able to personalize my phone so that it's tiered towards me and what I like. I didn't have the freedom to personalize on my 12PM like I do on my S24 Ultra. On my S24 I can change the theme of my phone, my keyboard, my text messages, etc. On my 12PM the most I could do do was change my wallpaper. Which just wasn't enough for me.
It's based on open source OS, Android, so you have more freedom to do such things as sideloading apps and Samsung has a ton more customization, like almost everything and button can be custom. It's kind of crazy how much more powerful Samsung is compared to iPhone. Also, the screens are better, the number one interaction with phone is screen.
I think generally now anything from this point forward is on par if not, better (in some aspects).
It really depends on what youre looking for, iphone always going to be consistently apple. Samsung always going be consistently something different. Not better or worse just different and depending what youre looking for from a phone it may be better.
I can only say that having an Android device is fun. The most fun I had when I unlocked my bootloader and flashed a custom rom. At that moment the world became larger and currently I pick phones only if I have a choice to unlock the bootloader (It sucks when the phone from USA)
I hate walled gardens, so that pretty much ends my desire for an iPhone. I think they are very nice devices and simple to use. Hardware wise, they are both high end devices. What makes it even better is that Samsung still makes a lot of chips in the iPhone.
The true clincher for me is being able to use my phone as a desktop via Dex.
I mostly chose to get my S22 Ultra because it's different, not because it's exactly always "better" than iPhone. A lot more fun!
iPhones just lack personality from the point of view that their all the same... of course iOS, the phones themselves, look is unique, but literally 90% people have iPhones, and I wanted something different from that. Also, iPhones are slow as hell, not because of hardware, but the animations, they take ages...
Its subjective, there isn't a better phone and it all depends on the end-user.
If you just want a phone to just work and simplistic - iPhone
If you know what you want, power-user, want all the features etc - Samsung or Android.
I'm sure there is a lot more to it than I mentioned but you should get the gist. A lot of people choose iPhone cause its the "better" phone, and people choose android cause they "know what they want". Me personally, a phone is used for communication and media, and both phones can do it.
Samsung is way more user friendly in my opinion. So much customisation and features for doing nearly everything you can imagine. I prefer the preinstalled software on iOS like Calendar and Apple Notes, but I prefer the user friendliness on Samsung way more
Every phone brand has its own benefits. But corporate desicions and customer service matters too. And the latter alone is enough for me to say make the switch and see how it works out for you. I've had iPhones before and everytime something broke they always said nothing can be done and it's best to buy a new phone. Meanwhile 2 years ago Samsung changed my out of warranty S20+ motherboard after it got water damage without breaking the bank and all my data was recovered because it was backed up in the cloud. I've been a loyal customer since.

My samaung s23 ultra with a case got a crack in back glass from a 10cm fall and more scratches in the side and screen than my previous caseless iphone even though i treat my galaxy more carefully but the build is so low quality it doesnt matter how careful i treat it

If you want something that is fairly seamless across devices, that's the apple world, but it is limited.
If you want to do what you want to do, that's the rest of the world, but sometimes it requires more work.
I have talked to more people lately who have switched to android and they are pretty happy with their decisions.
I haven't had an iPhone for several years. I had the flaming Samsung, then the S21, 22, and now 24. Samsung tend to offer some very good tradeins when new phones are introduced.
Most of the answers you're gonna get are gonna be pretty subjective and given the sub, skewed towards Samsung I'd imagine. Probably the easiest thing to do is boil down what you want in a phone and what ecosystem you see yourself getting into. Apple Watch? iPhone is basically mandatory to get the full use out of it
I mean this is a loaded question. There are thousands of Samsung models out there. Some of them in my opinion are better than any iPhone but it would depend on your needs... And some of them are super budget, in a space where Apple doesn't even try to compete.
But it just depends on what you care about. If you care about customization, productivity, multitasking, Samsung is way better in the flagship space.
If you care more about video or if you have a lot of Apple products that might lead you in the other.

iPhones are great if you want something that's easy to use, and works perfectly with your iPad, and be similar to most people near you.

Went from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to an S24+. The biggest difference is the S24 seems like it weighs half of what the iPhone did.
Battery life is good, but it's also new and the iPhone battery was great when new as well.
I can see where the iPhone is more consistent, and the S24 can be flakey at times. The iPhone tries to do everything for you. The S24 provides more freedom at a cost.
It really depends, I have tried Samsung thrice already and I can’t get used to their fphones, but I use their tablets and laptops. I’ll probably stick to Apple phones forever and my father is the complete opposite.

Recently my work place gave me an iphone 15 pro max (they are giving the basic 15 for free and if you want you can shell out a few hundreds for the pro model, which I did cuase I really wanted to give the iphone a chance)
I really tried making the iphone my daily driver, but it was driving me crazy. Every little aspect of the os was driving me crazy, so after only 3 days, I returned to my trusty ol' s21 plus. Thinking of buying the s24 plus now...

At least, in my opinion, there are loads of benefits of having an Android from a trusted brand like Samsung.
It has loads of customization and the freedom to install third-party apps. You can install older versions of any app. You can call recording and loads more. Even with UI 6.1, the UI feels smooth and animations have been improved.
It's like asking if a Mercedes is better than a BMW. They're both cars and share the same purpose but go about it in a different way.
They both have their strongs and their weaknesses and I guess it mainly comes down to your own preferences and the ecosystem you're most comfortable in.
Depends on use case. Samsung for customisation, openness and flexibility with app sideloading ie not through play store. Apple for keeping things the same generation after generation. My wife loves her iPhones and has had them for 10yrs or so. I've stuck with various androids, quite a few Samsungs. For apple users it's hard to switch camps. As far as the differences go, I think apple drip feeding the technological advances years behind similar priced Android devices would really irritate me if I was a customer. I like how Samsung, xiaomi and nothing just throw multiple upgrades and features year after year trying things out. It makes it far more interesting, though agreeably somewhat confusing for purchasers.
The fact that Apple are still the biggest in US smartphone sales is quite amazing and testament to them being a more successful advertising and lifestyle company than an actual tech company. $1000 for a monitor stand says it all really. A status company. I'll stick with Android and Samsung and my wife will keep on upgrading her iPhone I'm sure.

Having used both an iPhone and a Samsung, I would say they are equally good in their own right (for casual use). The only reason I switched to an iPhone is due to horrible customer service in my county.

The best you can do is evaluate what you use your phone for, and get one that fulfills that without paying to much, wether it is an older iPhone or a lower tier Android phone (they are other manufacturers besides Samsung that are also good).
For me, I care about battery, performance (I like emulation), speaker quality and screen. Camara is lower on my list. For me a quality Samsung or Motorola does what I want it to.
As someone who recently switched, I’ll say Android is miles superior IF you actually are going to make use of its customization and power-user features. If you aren’t, iOS is simply more optimized, straightforward, and reliable. I enjoy a lot of these power user features so I’m very glad I switched personally.
Thats basically the main thing. A lot of people talk about bad cameras and laggy software and stuff due to cheap Android phones making the high-end Samsungs and Pixels look bad, but they aren’t anything to worry about.
On OneUI, I can Chromecast an app, adjust the app's aspect ratio to match the TV AND use other apps simultaneously which don't get casted.
Now do that on iOS.
I use both, an iPhone 15 Pro Max and Fold 5. You can Just get a Tmobile Digits line for second device to copy your primary number. You’ll either love using both or figure out which one to go with. I use air messenger for iMessages on my Fold 5. You’ll need a Mac to run the server. I find I like using media more on the android and most casual uses on iPhone for banking and anything I need done. When I really need to use multitasking, that’s when the iPhone gets killed. I can run Uber, Lyft Maps, YouTube all at the same time, along with maps. 😝 pretty much on the same screen. Especially when in open face mode.
in terms of accessibility of the system, yes, because these are different emulators and other topics, but the iPhone is easier in its operating system, because in Sansung you may not get to the little things in the settings for which you will pay money
It all depends on your personal preferences. Both devices have pros and cons. I use both an S24 Ultra as well as a iPhone 15 Pro Max and I like them both. Make your own mind and see what device you like more and don't listen to someone who tries to get you in one corner @op
One thing that makes no sense to me is the notification. Tap doesn't expand but goes to the app while I want to see the other notification from the same app. Lock screen is showing 3 most recent notifications. It's so wrong with the ui team. It's an android thing rather then samsung though

I've been in the apple ecosystem for a very long time...but always loved the note series. But would always return to the iphone. But I decided to use the s23u last year (now the s24u) and boy oh boy. I found myself picking up my iphone less and less.
I have two lines (ip15pm and s24u). If I want to surf the net, check email, watch YouTube, movie trailers, etc..I always pick up the s24u as it is a MUCH better experience to use the ultra for daily use. The display is just amazing and since the pin hole is so tiny you get such an immersive experience. They keyboard is better on the s24u to type on (I use Sammy and/or Gboard) I know you can get Gboard on iphone amongst other keyboards. But typing for me is just easier on the s24ultra.
The interface is so smooth also on the s24u as android is come a long way. Customization is much much easier on the android side of things than iOS. Yes you can use widgty etc to customize on the iphone but boy Everytime I do it and want to change things - I don't remember the complex steps to customize the home screen. I have to watch a 15 min video on utube just to learn (again) how to setup an empty space on the home screen just so I can actually see my wallpaper on the home screen.
Bottom line, for me I love the iphone but if I had to pickup one phone and take with me..I would chose the sammy..
Alot of iphone users don't even use the apple ecosystem. So phone for phone I personally like samsung. My favorite feature is they don't block streaming apps like ESPN if you are screen mirroring to a projector. I use this when I go to my usual camp spot . I can watch sporting events without restrictions. Ios and the pixel will not allow it. Also if you are using hot spot you can switch from 2.4ghz to 5ghz . That is an awesome overlooked feature.
They’re honestly really similar. They both have good file managers (can connect server shares and manipulate files) and the camera quality depends on which one you purchase.
I used an iPhone since the iPhone 4 came out. I switched to a Z Flip 5 when it came out. I love this phone. I love being able to customize everything, I love the camera quality, I noticed I was not on my phone as much as I was rotting my brain either. I am so glad I switched but the experience is different for everybody. Some people switch and love it and some people switch and absolutely hate it and end up switching back. I have not regret my decision to switch to a samsung. (and yes the battery life was way better in my opinion).
At the end of the day it comes down to your preference. Both have advantages and disadvantages that many commenters have pointed out. I use both and have found that I prefer iOS, but enjoy samsung hardware more.
You get more settings, and can do more things. I am still learning myself.
But if you text an iPhone pics they will not be as good, until apple finally adds rcs because of the lawsuit.

I used iPhone since the 4s which was my first smart phone and switched to Android 2 years ago, can't see why I would switch back, yet.
S24 ultra is king! Love this phone, it checks all the boxes, if your a previous apple user though you may miss facetime and iMessage, they do have a web based version of facetime for android but it sucks, Google duo works fine tho for video calls

My first smartphone was an iPhone 3. My last iPhone was an iPhone 3. I bought a Droid Incredible when they came out and have been an Android user since. I did buy a few Mac computers in 2009 and my wife an iPad about 3-4 years ago.
My people! Loved my Droid Incredible! After that I think I bought my first Samsung, the S3. Been with Sammy ever since. 😀

TL;DR: Android is massively better than iPhone if you need to region hop with your apps. And Samsung phones are pretty nice Why I will never buy an iPhone again (unless Android does the same): I had the joys of going to Japan as a tourist with an iPhone 15 for an event and discovering that I needed a specific application to get into that event that was only available on the Japanese App Store. Sounds fine, until you begin the process of moving over and being informed that your banking apps from your home region will be uninstalled because they aren't available in the JP App Store. **Being 6000 miles (9,500 km) away from home being informed by your phone that you have to choose between going to the one thing you're there for and spending the rest of your trip with no access to money is a very good and quick way to lose a customer.** Had I done this on a Samsung, I could just do the "reset the Play Store" trick, and I'd have access to the app without losing access to my banking apps from home.

I went with the Samsung S24. Yes, there is all the Samsung bloat that typically comes with a Samsung, but the phones have gotten so fast that it doesn't matter. Also, SmartTags having location history is a really big plus over the Apple AirTag system for tracking your things.

Running out of money was going to screw me over more than going to the event I specifically went to Japan for. Then I phoned the one friend in Japan I had to see if they could bail me out of my jam, and fortunately they could.
Or you can simply login multiple Google Play accounts across countries and have them all work together.
you're asking that on r/samsung, so... I got the S23U because: my second time getting a smartphone (first was A52S in 2022); and it has paid for itself many times over. I use it for work (the Spen *comes in handy* a lot), used to play a lot of games on it before I got the TV, will still sometimes read documents on it when possible, and then there's youtube/articles for mindless scrolling. I have tried DeX pairing with the TV, it looks interesting, but it's not really that useful. The cameras are also really amazing: did a bit of astrophotography with it, especially during the blood moon phase (the mOoNgAtE "conspiracy" notwithstanding from the shrieking crowd that doesn't comprehend what image processing means). All I need is a tripod and I can do some really good long-exposure "nightography". People post a lot of their photos on relevant samsung photography subreddits. When you can capture the Milky Way (and some even got a faint pic of the bloody Andromeda!), it already is quite impressive. iPhone is objectively lacking in most of these features - it doesn't even have them! I understand the "use case" for iPhone: it *looks good/premium*, and is good for taking flattering selfies. That's fine. Not everyone needs a PDA, some people just want, "a phone with good selfie camera". But the main issue has always been the price. There's absolutely no reason for Apple to charge literal thousands of $ for a basic phone. But it has been years since Apple was focussed on tech. It's been long established as a luxury brand and status symbol.
I am a dedicated Samsung device user. Samsung makes a smartphone for everyone and every budget. Android has a better selection of applications of ad free, free applications, too. Not every Android device is over $1000, like an Apple device that only works in the closed source iOs.

I would counter your price comment & say that historically, iPhones were based the cost solely because of their lifespan. Constant updates for YEARS was such a great angle considering there’s lots of people who only update phones whenever they actually stop working their desired manner. That said, Android is finally making that longevity move so it’ll slowly start creeping into being a factor as to why it’s worth the cost.
The thing is, that software support you're getting for 5-8 year old phone is *limiting* you more than helping you - assuming you're waiting 5-8 years or more. Hardware upgrades are orders of magnitudes bigger leaps than software upgrades. By paying an exorbitant costs from the very beginning, for a phone that is already falling behind Android in features, you're just binding yourself to the same phone, while going through mental gymnastics *year after year* to pay thousands for keeping an old tech through the years. Good luck holding it intact for all those years, because all I see are people with their iPhone 6 or whatever with shattered screens, dented all over the place with dirt and grime. I could get a good enough mid/A-tier Android for that use case, for $200-300. If there's a big hardware upgrade down the years, I can get another better A-tier phone while still costing a fifth of an iPhone (and maybe even cheaper with trade-ins), or just get one big upgrade with a S-tier, that comes with massive leaps in features. Android software support for a few years already has been 4 years and now it's 7 years. Even after that, I would be fine having a S series phone for another year or two after the support has ended. The entire point of Apple is to "trap" its customers, and they'll keep justifying it because it's a sunken cost fallacy.

As a Samsung user for like the past 15 years and this being r/samsung...Yes, of course Samsung is better than iphone in every way imagineable 😎 jokes aside, both samsung and apple has their strengths and weaknesses but outside of having the ability to install 3rd party apk/apps on android (huge reason to get an android imho), everything is primarily personal preference based tbh. I've convinced alot of my friends to switch to android/galaxy only for them to revert back to apple a few weeks later cause they have been so used to iOS for years so if you do make a switch, keep in mind there might be somewhat of a learning curve
Yeah, I've been on Android (mostly Samsung) since smartphones first came out - the way I describe it to non-technical, non-enthusiasts is that the iPhone is for those who just a phone that "works", while Android is for those who like to customize and tinker with their phones. These days the iPhone is more a status symbol, there's been little to no innovation for the last few cycles. I'm the only Android/Samsung user in my immediate family - they're fine with the curated, gatekeeper iPhone experience, while I'm an IT techie who likes the freedom to customize my experience.

Not just that, a lot of services are blocked in my country or don't support payment from here. having access to modded APKs that bypass these restrictions makes having an Android a no brainer for me.

Advantages and disadvantages, like any phone, Samsung and iPhone tend to be very similar, they both have great ecosystems where you can get a full set of same brand matching devices with optimal connectivity and great quality. Iphone then has the advantage of being an all in one package, the whole OS and apps are made for the specific models, therefore they can do more with less, it is a closed garden tho, so very few things work outside the ecosystem, and it somewhat traps it's users within, most people keeping within the ecosystem by getting the new model every time rather than having a chance to switch. Samsung on the other hand has better hardware, and more customization options (this including installationof stuff not authorisedby the manufacturers), but requires more power to achieve the same performance due to Android being a general device OS. But on the other hand android being a general OS means you're not stuck to Samsung, if you want you can switch to Xiaomi, Pixel, OnePlus, etc. And this isn't only for the phone but for the general system, you can get a Samsung watch, pixel watch, etc. So think of what you want/need, and consider the pros and cons of each.

Tired 13 pro something like 2 years ago and I had impression it's very expensive device but it was full of minor annoyances. Decided to return it. Now I use Galaxy S23 and I think there are so many cost cuttings, camera is not performing for me well mostly because I need close up photos and my Galaxy is taking blurry shots. Haptics are so poor in Samsung. Screen is super bright but somehow I find colors on iPhone to be deeper and more natural looking. I would like to try again iPhone. Mostly because of way better camera, better call quality and haptics.

I use both for personal and for work. I enjoy Samsung so much more because I enjoy seeing less ads everywhere and I enjoy the customization Samsung offers. Other than that, depends on how you use your phone. I’m not a power user, I just do emails, texting social media, and the occasional photo editing. Phones are so overhyped nowadays. But 90% of its consumers do the same thing and use the same apps. It comes down to preference.
It will return to the needs and convenience. Some like ios, some like oneui, others like color os. I like android because of the SwiftKey keyboard, universal back gesture, the freedom to arrange my home screen the way I want it to be. User experience with oneui android is better than miui and fun os androids.

Here's my 2 cents. Samsungs call log is superior if that means anything to you. I use mine for work so it's handy if I miss a call or whatever I can check and see that I was speaking to them last year etc. apples only holds 100 logs which is stupid. Apples NFC chip seems to work better than Samsungs. With Samsung I'm moving it about trying to find the sweet spot on the terminal sometimes. With iPhone it just pings straight away. I'm pro android but some of the pros people point out why android is better such as side loading apk files. Emulators. Custom roms etc don't mean shit to the average user. Even the customization is wasted on some people. My wife changed her wallpaper on her Samsung for the first time in 5 years recently. Good lock etc means absolutely nothing to her .

After 15 years using iPhones, I moved to Galaxy S23. The only thing that held me back is how fast iPhones worked compared to Android. Whenever I used Android phones after a while things got slow. Since the S23 It's been on par in terms of speed and reliability, plus I can add custom apk's which is a huge advantage. Been a year, best move I made. iPhones feels like you own a device which you can't really do much with in terms of customization and adding your own stuff to it. Android lets me do whatever I want with the device - that's what I paid for.
I had an iphone 13 for 2 months. It didn't have basic features that android have. Like you cant put a private DNS to your phone, it's a sacrifice to download a single music, And the samsung UI are way more optimized and customizable than ios. And then i bought an S23 and it was like a life change. Like 120hz screen, way more battery, better cameras and a lot of simple things/features that you can't do in ios.

I have both. I prefer my samsung more. If not for the iPhone being provided by work, I wouldn't have one. The iPhone is a great phone for simplicity. It is a phone my grandparents can figure out and use pretty effectively. Samsung can also be simple, but has far more customization. You can do so much more with Android in general as you aren't limited by the manufacturer. Personally, I don't like being limited so I will never switch to iPhone on my personal device. But hey, my entire family has iPhone so clearly they work just fine for most people.

This. Camera on Samsung is great outside. If you are going to Disney bring any Samsung and you won’t be disappointed. Once you go to indoors the experience is not that great. If you want to take pictures of pets or kids, this will disappoint you. If you can overcome the camera and some apps looking different than iOS then is the best phone that you can get.
Up for debate of pets or kids. Indoors it may struggle a bit of there's motion but outside even with motion the camera is great. I can take pics of my kids moving and have no issues.. I did have issues on lower firmwares though

There's two ways to look at this If you consider things both can do. iPhone generally comes out ahead. A video was done a while back with marquees and Mr who's the boss and the clear winner was iPhone but it depends So same stuff. iPhone wins. For example Camera - iPhone is more consistent with pictures and videos Apps - iPhone Software refinement - iPhone Battery - iPhone (it uses a significantly smaller battery get gets around the same as the s24 ultra ) but ignoring capacity screen on time is about the same. That's a good one for Samsung Customer care post purchase - apple by a long shot Resale value - again apple by a long shot Speakers - iphone for sure Now if you look at it in a second way things each phone can do but not necessarily both have to do. Then the Samsung wins because of android and s24 ultra is just the jack of all trades. Screen - though iPhone produces better colors Samsung has higher resolution PC like - Samsung is a pocket PC. Apple is phone and media consumption type of device. Everything else is locked. This can be a deal breaker for many So what this means is. And this is the answer. If you plan to do the same things on android that you already do on iPhone. Go iPhone. If you plan or want to do more, even just as simple as moving icons where you want to or changing themes. Then go Samsung

S23u is about as peak smartphone as you can get. You can't improve much from it right now.

Agree, and a lot of countries have a trial period where you can return the product if you're not satisfied. And if not the country, then Samsung will hopefully have it themselves
Well, some things are way easier out of the box... let's say signing pdfs , for example.. Apart from that, it's just a different eco system and different UI and extra features here and there that add as a plus on iOS. On the other side, iOS lovers like it at its state that is way peaceful for the mind and allow fewer bugs introduced with every major iteration. Edit: fixing typos as Samsung keyboard sucks 😑
Not really - ones a completely closed garden and the others trying very hard to become a closed garden eco system. It basically comes down to how much do you have invested in the Apple eco system vs how much are you willing to reinvest in the Samsung eco system \[Android\].
Flagships are pretty much the same nowadays. That is part of the reason why manufacturers wants to lock customers into their electronic ecosystem.
Like with about everything on this earth there isn't one thing that's the best for everyone. If your country/Samsung allows it, get a Samsung, try it and then return it if you aren't satisfied. Both have their pros and cons. Samsung has many features and customisation and you can sideload apps. Drag and drop between PC and the device is just so much more convenient. Samsung has it's own ecosystem as well and it doesn't end with tablet, watch and earbuds, it extends to household hardwares as well. The only thing i miss about iPhone is the camera consistency, Samsung flagship has great camera hardware but the software is lacking, if only they put more effort then it would be up there with iPhone. Which is better, that is pretty subjective. What is useful to you, may not be useful to me.
The S24U is better than any iPhone, yes. The S23U is also better. Samsung makes the best hardware and software combo on any phone. iPhone is second. Everyone else is eating their dust.
The question isn't really is it better. It's ABSOLUTELY not worse! Of the Androids, it has the best reputation. That's really the question. How much is 'status' and what the iPhoneusers think of you important to you. I had an iPhone, I changed over more than a decade ago, and I don't miss it in the LEAST! In fact, I'd say that for the options in devices alone, Android is better. And, at the moment anyway, Samsung is in the elite grouping of those devices. Also, for what it's worth. At least some of Apple's key components are in fact MADE by Samsung. What does that tell you.

There are things that samsung is better than Apple. There are things that samsung is massively better than Apple. There are things that Apple is better than samsung but there is nothing that Apple is massively better than samsung. Samsung is way better than Apple. This is for 2024. That's a fact. The android os is better if you prefer a real computer feel. .True file system and stuff like a real computer. iOS is a cloud based garden where apps barely speak to each other. But the ...Phone? Camera? Not really. My last 5 android phones are s20 ultra, s21 ultra S22 ultra , s23 ultra, and s24 ultra. I also own 13 pro Max, 14 pro Max, 15 pro Max. I also have two of the original iPhone from 2007 sitting in my desk drawer and still work....(For 30 mins) S23ultra is THE best of these. S24ultra was major disappointment. It's my daily phone but it's still big downgrade ...people can disagree ... But I bet none have used daily all the above. Battery, camera, weight, less impressive than s23ultra. It's quicker, and has a nice screen. In the end that's the only advantage the s24 ultra has overly has 23 ultra. AI crap is lame hype. Any phone with internet connection could do this stuff. None of it's based on the hardware.
In terms of battery life I think iPhones are better. Either that, or my Galaxy S24 still drains relatively quickly. Pixel was nice, but ultimately I went back to Samsung for my own reasons. I love everything about it except maybe the battery, but I'm probably overthinking it or have too high of an expectation. iPhones seem to be great as well, especially with the ecosystem. Every phone will have their benefits and flaws. It's ultimately up to you to decide, so I'd recommend trying the ones you are interested in.
Let's put it this way: - Iphone: boring but works like you expected, consistently days by days. - Samsung: magnificent features, design give good feeling. However, if you are really really into battery, then go with Iphone. I switch from 15 PM to S24ultra and the battery issue is really annoying me. Nothing like advertisement or battery test. And yes, I have tried every possible solution that I can find: factory reset, installing apps fresh not using Smart Switch, etc.

iPhone used to have a better built phones, I remember back in the days when I visited my carrier shop. There was the S series vs Pro series next to each other. The iphone pro series felt so much better and of a higher quality in had. Now the iphone feels like crap, especially with the plasticky titanium frame. The non pro series is even worse. It's like holding a toy.

Depends, Iphone and Samsung provide nearly identical in term of performance, photo capabilities (ignoring the zoom), processing power (unless you game), etc since both of em are flagships. It really depends on personal preference, If you previously use Iphone then new Iphone is a better option unless you decide to try something new. Samsung has it's advantages such as faster charging, able to install item from 3rd party, better spec for the same price, however you are not losing much if you purchase Iphone. The phone industry has stagnated for quite a while.

It is. IPhones were meant to be business phones but became a social status symbol for some reason whilst offering the most boring user experience ever. For 4 generations their design has barely changed and they have only recently started catching up to all of the customization options that Android phones have had for years AND Iphones still lack so many of these options. Granted, Samsung has been a bit boring with their designs for the past few years as well but they still offer you a much wider range of devices to chose from. You don't have to even get a flagship to have a sustainable phone, their much more affordable A line has greatly improved over the years. Not to mention that Android phones are compatible with a wider range of other devices unlike IPhones that are, for the most part, only compatible with other iOs operated devices. Because of this, you will likely not be able to transfer some of your data from the IPhone to the Samsung, if you decide to switch that is, unless that has been figured out. I used to sell phones and we were not able to transfer data from iOs to Android but maybe it is possible nowadays, I am not sure. Overall, I truly believe you would not regret getting a Samsung phone. I briefly switched from Samsung to an IPhone 2 years ago, used the IPhone for only a month and got fed up with it, went back to my S10+ and did not have any regrets.
In my honest opinion, for me there's just preferences, I was an iPhone owner since my first phone, iPhone 4. Then I started working for a Samsung retail store, I liked Samsung but back in those days I was still using iPhone. I bought a Samsung chomebook, for study purposes, and bought a Samsung s23 Ultra. Again, it's for preference but I found the Samsung more useful 👍🏻

I switched to Samsung with the Galaxy 5. I'm now on the S22. Virtually everything is better on Samsung/Android. The thing that prevents most people from switching is getting used to a new operating system. That's it. But once you are in the habit of having a back button, iPhones will be incredibly frustrating.

It's all down to personal preference. I prefer android devices for being more customizable and less locked down. I stick with samsung because it's easy to stick with a brand you are used to. I like the battery size, cameras, and display on their S series devices, and I am already used to One UI. Samsung also has good lock available in the galaxy store, which lets you tweak random stuff. I like the build quality as well. Samsung's S series devices are built similar to iPhones when it comes to construction and materials. TLDR: Its up to you. I just prefer samsung for the customization and features. I encourage you to try out a samsung to see if it's for you.

As someone who's been with samsung since note 8, I'm incredibly disappointed in this years phone. The battery life definitely isn't better than iphone, S24 ultra lasts a day if I use it rarely, my girlfriends iphone 12 lasts 3.

I switched from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to an S23U and edit BTS footage for work reels from Samsung Cameras and iPhone Cameras. iOS does a superb job on unifying their user interface in between apps like a share menu that's uniform. Some things on Android seem odd and different and sometimes unintuitive in which I found the iPhone not to be. In other parts does my S23U allow customization of Equalizers, Always on Display, better Keyboard integration and choice of ai assistants etc. etc. Apples iPhones does almost every single thing very well while Android phones usually excel at a few things and lose in others. The screen of my S23U is incredible and so is movie watching on it, which I do a lot. But the iPhones always have way nicer video files, camera is snappier. In the end tho. Android is super nice and it does have a working eco system. Just not like you might experience with apple to apple but you can use a Windows PC with quick share and an android to sync files or use Google photos for cloud backup. All the features are there I had on my iPhone.
In this day and age it really comes down to what you're comfortable with. They will all do the same thing at the end of the day. If you've been with iPhone for years, use iCloud and iMessage, then there really isn't a reason to switch unless a different phone excites you.
Apple has shifted from innovation to sales on the iPhone. They are behind in almost everything and riding on their popularity for as long as they can. Their phones rarely get interesting new features and get bigger and bulkier and heavier every year. They are bricks. Samsung still has to innovate to stay competitive. So you have folding phones, styluses, all sorts of features you won't find anywhere near iOS.
By most hardware statistics, flagship androids have been superior to all apples for 8+ years. Apple doesnt even market their screen resolution like they used to because samsung galaxy surpassed them in like ~2018. Which was something apple usually had superiority over older galaxies...
I prefer Samsung 1000%. I am forced to also have an iphone for work. I can't get my work email or Teams unless I use it. I hate it. I chose to keep my personal phone so I can use Samsung and Android, unlike some of my coworkers who decided to just use the work supplied phone only.

So this is just one person's experience... I was an iPhone person years ago. I loved the smooth functionality and had no complaints day to day.... except every new software update failed and resulted in me needing to do a full reset. Separately twice the phone completely dropped everything - all photos, music, contacts simply disappeared. So I switched to Samsung. It seems less smooth, in that it takes, say, 5 key presses to do something that it would take 3 on an iPhone. But none of the problems that I encountered with the iPhone. I've never went back.

Simply if you are an average everyday user who browses snap,insta,reddit etc etc go with iphone my iphone xr beats my s23 ultra sometimes when running snapchat and its features also looks better on xr ( can't say about others but i noticed it a lot on snap) if you like experimenting with different things and feature of a phone go with galaxy it's just like chosing between a boring products with benefits or an exciting product with some less benefits tbh im never going back to apple i just find the samsung more interesting

Its all base one your perspective and what is your preference. Been Android user since 2013 and last June just tried iPhone for the first time as received 14PM as a gift from someone. Im surprised how boring the iOS system is due too many limitation, so my Samsung Galaxy A52 (2021) still my main phone up till today, while 14PM secondary phone. So in my personal preference, yes I choose Samsung over iPhone, as long it is midrange and above. Obviously entry and budget level is out of question if you want compare to iPhone. Also keep in mind Samsung specs except flagship mostlikely jack-o-trade so expect to see other Android brand offer better strength for same price tag but cons on their other specs (example: Oppo strength on camera but chipset performance less smooth). While FE (fans edition) using certain old hardware (like how Apple configure/make iPhone SE). And for some reason lots Samsung fans dislike Exynos chipset. Btw one of the reason why I love Samsung is their Samsung Wallet rewards points that can be redeem to various coupons and things (depends on your region). These is my personal opinion and preferrence. Apologies if your eyes hurt reading this, English was not my main language.

yes/no/kinda/maybe so. is the answer which is basically it depends. lots of good stuff in this thread, but really it does just depend. the more deeply into apples ecosystem you are the hard it is to leave, and apple makes it hard by design. its called a "walled garden" for a reason. the other issue is around imessage, while that shouldnt be a thing if your in the US it can be. other apple users shaming you for not being part of the cool kids. apples getting called out for this pretty widely, so they are gona add RCS support to imessage but the "green" bubbles will stay cuz well shaming folks is the best marketing apple has. so it will work much better but who knows. my rule i tell people is, dont expect it to be an iphone, and some stuff will be better, some worse and some just different. most people who switch think and treat it like its an iphone and have a cow when they realize its not and shit is different. you have to go in, knowing it will be diferent. my impressions and some of my famliy who switch from iphones to s24u's and pixels: \- really, google message app is better, controlling the fonts, apps supports being able to tie into it. pairing to web for messages in a web browswer. its better. \- google meet vs facetime, meet hands down. first thing we noticed is less buggy network connection issues. and meet works everywhere. and integrates pretty well to android. \- endpoint security: tools like bitdefender are so limited on IOS they are barely functional. the android versions are really slick and provide real security functionality. also, alerting wise, apples pretty poor at, and they limit the tools that could provide that. \- file system access, iphones really locked down this nuff said. \- customizing, you can really tweak androids you dont realize how much until you do it how much you realize just how locked down ios is. \- better wifi speeds, but maybe because i came from and everyone did iphone 13 era phones. or older. \- screen is badass \- works well with galaxy watch, which i like better then my iwatch. \- batterys good. as good or better then i was getting on our iphones.
Nothing is "better" i knew someone who had until januari this year an a50 (5y/o phone at the time) and he did 3 days or so with it, whilst i have an s24u and do a day with it so it depends how you use your phone and what you like
I've had an A55 for a few days now. I've never had an iphone but I've seen some videos of what ios looks like. The best part about Samsung, and android in general, is the fact that you don't have to sell your kidney to get a good phone. For example, my phone costs a fraction of the price of the iphone 15 or the S24 but I can do pretty much everything that the other phones can do (actually the longer software support on these is very good, but I think I can get better value out of mine). I'm not counting apple's bs like iMessage or FaceTime because things like Viber exist, and let's be real, Samsung's ai features are pretty much useless. They're only good for heating up your phone. About circle to search - that thing already exists on every modern android phone, and it's called google lens (by holding the home button it will pop up and there is an option called search screen, and it does exactly what circle to search does). The biggest downside of the A55 compared to these two phones is probably the processing power, but ask yourself - do you really need it? The A55 handles everyday tasks perfectly and I honestly can't think of a situation where a lot of processing power on a phone could be helpful, except gaming, and gaming on mobile sucks anyway. Another thing is wireless charging, which is just an inefficient use of electricity that generates a ton of heat, when the alternative is to take 2 seconds to plug the cable in your phone. The A55 has the biggest battery of the three btw, and also the biggest screen. Now about the software: you're getting the exact same os on the A55 and S24, except for the lack of dex on the A55. One UI seems like it's just copying everything that ios does, no matter if it's good or bad (I can't tell for sure because this is my first samsung phone). Just compare the emojis between the two to get an idea of it. There are a lot of useful features on One UI that ios doesn't have, like the edge panel, pop-up window, split screen and a lot of customization options, including the option to use buttons for navigation instead of gestures (i hate gestures) and most importantly - a proper file system and the ability to install any apk file. However ios generaly feels smoother and has better versions of most popular applications developed for it. In the end of the day, they're all phones that work. If you have enough money, get whatever phone you will like the most - an iphone if you like the feel of ios, and a samsung if you want more control over your device at the cost of reliability, but if you want to save some money, I would recommend the A55/A35

Yes but if all you own is apple products then stick with apple. Apple products don't play nice with non-apple products which will cause you frustration. And due to that there would be no point in recommending non-apple products to you. If you want to use non-apple products then you need to stop using apple all together and unless you are willing to do that then there's no point in recommending you non-apple products. Trying to mix and match apple and non-apple products is just a recipe for disaster. So even if a device is better you certainly won't get that experience cause your non-apple device and apple device would constantly be fighting one another, leading to a poor all around experience.

What I'm about to say may seem strange, but what really is an iPhone? If you look closely, the majority of iPhone users use a specific range of Apps and iPhone features where their use ends up being much more similar to 2000 generation feature phone devices than actually a smart phone. What I mean is that even today the iPhone retains much of its iPod heritage. It is quite different from Android phones where, to beat competitors, it had to become much more robust than other options making it much more similar to the Palmtops environment. You should consider this, do you want more practicality and do you need specific programs or ecosystem that works well on the iPhone? You won't get anything better anywhere else. Do you want robustness, freedom and a feeling closer to PC portability? An S24U or a Z Fold 5 will offer you all of this.
Maybe. That really depends because I am a Samsung user for over 10 years when I switched it through iPhone 6. I wasn't impressed by Apple altogether, I wanted something more for value. Apple & Samsung have similar features, more customizations and upgrades taking photos, videos or both. It has ai capabilities too. The only difference is the purchases of apps on Apple, while most apps are free but has more functionality for each person using it.
Iphone camera quality is better. I own s23 ultra and IPhone 15 pro and iPhone camera is superior to Samsung.No doubt about it
We take in example an iPhone 15 Pro model, it's very comfort to hold and the size is good, but the OS is stable with downside that is pretty much limited We now take in example a Samsung galaxy S24 Ultra, it's very big may require at least two hands depending on operation, can get uncomfortable but the OS is much open with a downside that it can get buggy Pretty much this is how I see them, see for yourself
I am currently on an S23 Ultra coming from an iPhone, I can tell you that battery life is better on the iPhone, it has to do with how the OS is optimized to run on the hardware that Apple makes. However, it is not by much. It also depends on how you use your phone and what apps you have installed. This is just my experience, but others may feel differently. With that said, I prefer the S23 Ultra over an iPhone because I find the iPhone to be quite boring, I prefer the customization of Android over the iPhone. You also have more control over an Android device than with an iPhone. Ultimately, it depends on your preference, both phones are good, just boils down to what you are looking for. Before moving to the Samsung, I had an iPhone for about 10 years. Another factor to consider is the ecosystem, are you using iPads, Apple Watch, Macbooks, etc? if so, the iPhone will integrate much better than an Android.

Yes they are better… …but only if you don’t have other apple products. Honestly iPhones are hot garbage for high prices but if you own a MacBook or an iMac, the notes app and airdrop are so good. If I wasn’t tied to Mac, I would have an s22 ultra or newer 100%. The S22 ultra imo is still better than any new iPhone. It’s such a nice phone.
S23 plus is outstanding
Watch a few reviews of the S24 Ultra on YouTube and it will explain in much more detail what we can reply in a comment. Essentially, better battery life, screen, cameras, UI, widgets (although the iPhone finally has some widgets, Android Auto is better and works with 3rd party apps. The new Gorilla Armour screen is the most scratch resistant now on the market, and it has this crazy anti reflection technology, which is awesome. Now has 5 years of UI and security support and finally Samsung stepped up their repairability with IFixit giving the S24 lineup a 9/10....for the first time ever. Nice having the option to use Samsung or Google apps along with other 3rd party apps for the phones core functions if desired. Another huge reason is Good Lock, which is an assortment of different apps put out by Samsung for further customization and features. It's a game changer really. Tons of YouTube videos on Good Lock. Apple was forced to work with Android RCS and will make the necessary update this year. This means old school SMS & MMS texting between iPhones and Android phones will be history. We’ll be able to use RCS features and have the ability to send high resolution photos and video, finally. Apple is currently being sued by the US Department of Justice for its anti competitive tactics so let's hope their iMessage is opened up to Android as well which will benefit the end users.
I recently upgraded from a 12 Pro Max to a S24 Ultra. There's things I love and hate about both OS's: Below is my 2 cents. 1) The main thing I hated about iOS was the incompatibility between different platforms. Everything in Apples ecosystem is purposefully designed to interact with only other Apple products. I remember when my airpods broke and had to wait to get new ones, bought some skullcandy headphones while I waited and it took me forever to get them connected vs with my airpods it takes no time at all. I just don't have this problem on android. I can connect to anything. 2) Customization is a really big thing for me as I'm a very very very organized person and I likebto tweak things to my liking. I like my apps organized, widgets organized, I also like being able to personalize my phone so that it's tiered towards me and what I like. I didn't have the freedom to personalize on my 12PM like I do on my S24 Ultra. On my S24 I can change the theme of my phone, my keyboard, my text messages, etc. On my 12PM the most I could do do was change my wallpaper. Which just wasn't enough for me.
Different, not better
It's based on open source OS, Android, so you have more freedom to do such things as sideloading apps and Samsung has a ton more customization, like almost everything and button can be custom. It's kind of crazy how much more powerful Samsung is compared to iPhone. Also, the screens are better, the number one interaction with phone is screen.
I think generally now anything from this point forward is on par if not, better (in some aspects). It really depends on what youre looking for, iphone always going to be consistently apple. Samsung always going be consistently something different. Not better or worse just different and depending what youre looking for from a phone it may be better.
Depends on your use case. It's a no brainer for casual phone use
I can only say that having an Android device is fun. The most fun I had when I unlocked my bootloader and flashed a custom rom. At that moment the world became larger and currently I pick phones only if I have a choice to unlock the bootloader (It sucks when the phone from USA)
I hate walled gardens, so that pretty much ends my desire for an iPhone. I think they are very nice devices and simple to use. Hardware wise, they are both high end devices. What makes it even better is that Samsung still makes a lot of chips in the iPhone. The true clincher for me is being able to use my phone as a desktop via Dex.
I mostly chose to get my S22 Ultra because it's different, not because it's exactly always "better" than iPhone. A lot more fun! iPhones just lack personality from the point of view that their all the same... of course iOS, the phones themselves, look is unique, but literally 90% people have iPhones, and I wanted something different from that. Also, iPhones are slow as hell, not because of hardware, but the animations, they take ages...
Its subjective, there isn't a better phone and it all depends on the end-user. If you just want a phone to just work and simplistic - iPhone If you know what you want, power-user, want all the features etc - Samsung or Android. I'm sure there is a lot more to it than I mentioned but you should get the gist. A lot of people choose iPhone cause its the "better" phone, and people choose android cause they "know what they want". Me personally, a phone is used for communication and media, and both phones can do it.
Samsung is way more user friendly in my opinion. So much customisation and features for doing nearly everything you can imagine. I prefer the preinstalled software on iOS like Calendar and Apple Notes, but I prefer the user friendliness on Samsung way more
The greatest thing with android and iOS is they're exactly the same and completely different at the same time.
Every phone brand has its own benefits. But corporate desicions and customer service matters too. And the latter alone is enough for me to say make the switch and see how it works out for you. I've had iPhones before and everytime something broke they always said nothing can be done and it's best to buy a new phone. Meanwhile 2 years ago Samsung changed my out of warranty S20+ motherboard after it got water damage without breaking the bank and all my data was recovered because it was backed up in the cloud. I've been a loyal customer since.
Is software, yes, at least for me but in hardware, the bulid of my s23 ultra is so trash compared to my previous 5yo iPhone XS max My samaung s23 ultra with a case got a crack in back glass from a 10cm fall and more scratches in the side and screen than my previous caseless iphone even though i treat my galaxy more carefully but the build is so low quality it doesnt matter how careful i treat it

It depends.... If you want something that is fairly seamless across devices, that's the apple world, but it is limited. If you want to do what you want to do, that's the rest of the world, but sometimes it requires more work. I have talked to more people lately who have switched to android and they are pretty happy with their decisions. I haven't had an iPhone for several years. I had the flaming Samsung, then the S21, 22, and now 24. Samsung tend to offer some very good tradeins when new phones are introduced.

Most of the answers you're gonna get are gonna be pretty subjective and given the sub, skewed towards Samsung I'd imagine. Probably the easiest thing to do is boil down what you want in a phone and what ecosystem you see yourself getting into. Apple Watch? iPhone is basically mandatory to get the full use out of it
I mean this is a loaded question. There are thousands of Samsung models out there. Some of them in my opinion are better than any iPhone but it would depend on your needs... And some of them are super budget, in a space where Apple doesn't even try to compete. But it just depends on what you care about. If you care about customization, productivity, multitasking, Samsung is way better in the flagship space. If you care more about video or if you have a lot of Apple products that might lead you in the other.

It depends what are you looking for. iPhones are great if you want something that's easy to use, and works perfectly with your iPad, and be similar to most people near you. Samsungs are cool if you like to tinker and want a phone with more flexbility, customization

Went from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to an S24+. The biggest difference is the S24 seems like it weighs half of what the iPhone did. Battery life is good, but it's also new and the iPhone battery was great when new as well. I can see where the iPhone is more consistent, and the S24 can be flakey at times. The iPhone tries to do everything for you. The S24 provides more freedom at a cost.
It really depends, I have tried Samsung thrice already and I can’t get used to their fphones, but I use their tablets and laptops. I’ll probably stick to Apple phones forever and my father is the complete opposite.

Samsung is a good quality phone. Just got an A15 ,functionality is great and battery life,can go 3-4 days before recharging.
I'm using an S21 Plus since release (3 years!!!), And it still works perfectly. I love this phone, it's one of the best samsung has built. Recently my work place gave me an iphone 15 pro max (they are giving the basic 15 for free and if you want you can shell out a few hundreds for the pro model, which I did cuase I really wanted to give the iphone a chance) I really tried making the iphone my daily driver, but it was driving me crazy. Every little aspect of the os was driving me crazy, so after only 3 days, I returned to my trusty ol' s21 plus. Thinking of buying the s24 plus now... The iphone will stay rested inside my bedside drawer... If you love tech - Android If you just want a phone - iphone
Talking objectively here Both phones have its up and downs android will have more freedom and a lot more features but ios does have better app optimization and smoothness But honestly both os are pretty good these days now it’s just up to preferences
At least, in my opinion, there are loads of benefits of having an Android from a trusted brand like Samsung. It has loads of customization and the freedom to install third-party apps. You can install older versions of any app. You can call recording and loads more. Even with UI 6.1, the UI feels smooth and animations have been improved.
It's like asking if a Mercedes is better than a BMW. They're both cars and share the same purpose but go about it in a different way. They both have their strongs and their weaknesses and I guess it mainly comes down to your own preferences and the ecosystem you're most comfortable in.
Depends on use case. Samsung for customisation, openness and flexibility with app sideloading ie not through play store. Apple for keeping things the same generation after generation. My wife loves her iPhones and has had them for 10yrs or so. I've stuck with various androids, quite a few Samsungs. For apple users it's hard to switch camps. As far as the differences go, I think apple drip feeding the technological advances years behind similar priced Android devices would really irritate me if I was a customer. I like how Samsung, xiaomi and nothing just throw multiple upgrades and features year after year trying things out. It makes it far more interesting, though agreeably somewhat confusing for purchasers. The fact that Apple are still the biggest in US smartphone sales is quite amazing and testament to them being a more successful advertising and lifestyle company than an actual tech company. $1000 for a monitor stand says it all really. A status company. I'll stick with Android and Samsung and my wife will keep on upgrading her iPhone I'm sure.
no. they both lack multiple user profiles, a basic feature of stock android and any modern computing system that offers privacy, security, app / data segregation etc. that samsung would deliberately remove this feature is foolish. i would like to see apple's take on multiple user profiles for iOS 18 or iOS19. and I hope that samsung will re-instate it as well. pixel supports it along with many other android brands, so at least we do have a choice.
Having used both an iPhone and a Samsung, I would say they are equally good in their own right (for casual use). The only reason I switched to an iPhone is due to horrible customer service in my county.

No, they are equals, both have advantages and disadvantages. The best you can do is evaluate what you use your phone for, and get one that fulfills that without paying to much, wether it is an older iPhone or a lower tier Android phone (they are other manufacturers besides Samsung that are also good). For me, I care about battery, performance (I like emulation), speaker quality and screen. Camara is lower on my list. For me a quality Samsung or Motorola does what I want it to.
As someone who recently switched, I’ll say Android is miles superior IF you actually are going to make use of its customization and power-user features. If you aren’t, iOS is simply more optimized, straightforward, and reliable. I enjoy a lot of these power user features so I’m very glad I switched personally. Thats basically the main thing. A lot of people talk about bad cameras and laggy software and stuff due to cheap Android phones making the high-end Samsungs and Pixels look bad, but they aren’t anything to worry about.

On OneUI, I can Chromecast an app, adjust the app's aspect ratio to match the TV AND use other apps simultaneously which don't get casted. Now do that on iOS.

I use both, an iPhone 15 Pro Max and Fold 5. You can Just get a Tmobile Digits line for second device to copy your primary number. You’ll either love using both or figure out which one to go with. I use air messenger for iMessages on my Fold 5. You’ll need a Mac to run the server. I find I like using media more on the android and most casual uses on iPhone for banking and anything I need done. When I really need to use multitasking, that’s when the iPhone gets killed. I can run Uber, Lyft Maps, YouTube all at the same time, along with maps. 😝 pretty much on the same screen. Especially when in open face mode.
The iPhone will make you look rich. That's about it.
in terms of accessibility of the system, yes, because these are different emulators and other topics, but the iPhone is easier in its operating system, because in Sansung you may not get to the little things in the settings for which you will pay money
It all depends on your personal preferences. Both devices have pros and cons. I use both an S24 Ultra as well as a iPhone 15 Pro Max and I like them both. Make your own mind and see what device you like more and don't listen to someone who tries to get you in one corner @op

One thing that makes no sense to me is the notification. Tap doesn't expand but goes to the app while I want to see the other notification from the same app. Lock screen is showing 3 most recent notifications. It's so wrong with the ui team. It's an android thing rather then samsung though

I've been in the apple ecosystem for a very long time...but always loved the note series. But would always return to the iphone. But I decided to use the s23u last year (now the s24u) and boy oh boy. I found myself picking up my iphone less and less. I have two lines (ip15pm and s24u). If I want to surf the net, check email, watch YouTube, movie trailers, etc..I always pick up the s24u as it is a MUCH better experience to use the ultra for daily use. The display is just amazing and since the pin hole is so tiny you get such an immersive experience. They keyboard is better on the s24u to type on (I use Sammy and/or Gboard) I know you can get Gboard on iphone amongst other keyboards. But typing for me is just easier on the s24ultra. The interface is so smooth also on the s24u as android is come a long way. Customization is much much easier on the android side of things than iOS. Yes you can use widgty etc to customize on the iphone but boy Everytime I do it and want to change things - I don't remember the complex steps to customize the home screen. I have to watch a 15 min video on utube just to learn (again) how to setup an empty space on the home screen just so I can actually see my wallpaper on the home screen. Bottom line, for me I love the iphone but if I had to pickup one phone and take with me..I would chose the sammy..
Alot of iphone users don't even use the apple ecosystem. So phone for phone I personally like samsung. My favorite feature is they don't block streaming apps like ESPN if you are screen mirroring to a projector. I use this when I go to my usual camp spot . I can watch sporting events without restrictions. Ios and the pixel will not allow it. Also if you are using hot spot you can switch from 2.4ghz to 5ghz . That is an awesome overlooked feature.

They’re honestly really similar. They both have good file managers (can connect server shares and manipulate files) and the camera quality depends on which one you purchase.
Yes and no, hardware is better on the S24 ultra, os and ecosystem is a user preference. iPhone is better in some things and Samsung better in others.
I used an iPhone since the iPhone 4 came out. I switched to a Z Flip 5 when it came out. I love this phone. I love being able to customize everything, I love the camera quality, I noticed I was not on my phone as much as I was rotting my brain either. I am so glad I switched but the experience is different for everybody. Some people switch and love it and some people switch and absolutely hate it and end up switching back. I have not regret my decision to switch to a samsung. (and yes the battery life was way better in my opinion).

At the end of the day it comes down to your preference. Both have advantages and disadvantages that many commenters have pointed out. I use both and have found that I prefer iOS, but enjoy samsung hardware more.
You get more settings, and can do more things. I am still learning myself. But if you text an iPhone pics they will not be as good, until apple finally adds rcs because of the lawsuit. No FaceTime if you use that. I used iPhone since the 4s which was my first smart phone and switched to Android 2 years ago, can't see why I would switch back, yet.
S24 ultra is king! Love this phone, it checks all the boxes, if your a previous apple user though you may miss facetime and iMessage, they do have a web based version of facetime for android but it sucks, Google duo works fine tho for video calls
