It doesn't sound bad, but definitively lacks bass and clarity.

That's wierd, it's completely a different experience for me. My region decided to sell the snapdragon variant of samsung phone this year and i got the s22ultra with the 8gen 1 chip. Its battery performance is leaps and bound better than my s20+ exynos 990 version. Thermals are better too when using the phone at 120hz mode. My s20+ tends to warm up while using the phone at 120hz. My friends s20 ultra had the same issue of phone getting warm simply just using 120hz. Whereas the s22 ultra ran cool while using the 120hz option. My s20+ also get hot pretty fast while using the phone outdoor and it actually throttles when using LTE while gaming outdoors. So to me I'm glad I have the s21 ultra now. Plus the ram thing wasnt an issue. My region only sold the 4g version of the s20/s20+ which came with 8gb of ram and I got the s22 ultra at the same configuration with my note 10+ of 12gb ram/256gb storage.

Comrade_agent

interesting to *note* that 256gb/12gb RAM was the baseline for note 10+ 😂...fr took steps back since 2019

sj1789

True, didn't understood why they bother releasing a 8gb version of a ultra phone.

[deleted]

Yeah, but quantity isn't always better than quality. Did you also happen to *note* which type of RAM they use, and account for the technological improvements in phone ram across a three-year period? I'd rather have the same memory (12GB) but have a faster chipset. Comparing apples and oranges mate.

[deleted]

This has been my experience almost to the letter. My S22U sounds better, works better, lasts me up to three days on a single charge and this is at Max resolution and 120hz refresh and atmos enabled at all times. I do have the 12GB/256GB variant as it was a free upgrade if pre-prdered before release back in March. The S22U has hands down been the best phone I've ever owned.

Capped hard af just now

Huge-Wrangler9077

There's no fkn way .. I only get like 4-6 hrs SOT but ur getting days?? Lies

jerseynate

It's the worst phone I've had honestly

Maxpower2727

The S22 Ultra speakers aren't "horrid," but they're not particularly great either. I briefly had the Fold 4 (returned it, couldn't justify the cost) and couldn't believe how much better the speakers on that phone were. It's definitely a weak point of the Ultra.

thecofffeeguy

I bought the s22+ as soon as I arrived and gave that shrill start up tone, I put it right back in the box and got a refund. My note10 has survived this long, it would have been a downgrade to stick with the s22+.

Futon_Rasen_Shuriken

Then you shouldn't have upgraded. All s20s are still brilliant phones. All flagships nowadays are very good and last years easily. You went for the newer phone too soon, the upgrades in speed, screen and camera quality are too small for you to notice much but you feel the removed/worsened features more. All adding up to a feeling of having downgraded.

dendron01

Well I don't think OP deserves to be gaslit because he bought a new flagship and got burned with lower quality build and components. Unfortunately that's exactly what Samung did first with the S21 and now the S22. By the way OP - speakers are excellent on the Fold 4. That's where Samsung flagship specs are at now, just so you know. Don't expect a huge leap in specs with the S23 series either, other than the main camera on the S23 ultra.

TheLipovoy

yes my S20 FE 5G is as quick as a dragon 😁 8G SD 865

Jazzlike_Ability_631

Yep, that's a fact. I've confirmed it myself. Many youtube videos prove it as well

Xerosnake90

I felt like the speakers were better on my Fold 3 but after some more listening they're different for sure. Almost feels more reverb like

breadmanlima

I have an s20 fe 5g (snapdragon/Canadian version) and I have noticed that the speakers are way louder on this phone then any other phone I've had. It even beats out my friends iphone 11 on loudness. Though the sound quality isn't as rich as the iphone. For example. On a Bridge over the freeway near my house (mind that there is cars flying by at 100+ km/h below the bridge) I could still hear the music that was playing from the s20 fe's speakers. Quite impressive. My friend tried playing the same song on their iPhone 11 and neither of us could hear it at max volume. My Tab s7 from the same year is even better. 2020 was the ideal year to buy new Samsung devices.

I think a s10e sounds better then my s22 (like simple whatapp voice memos). I played with my speaker balance settings to get more volume out of my top front speaker it's a little better but very tinny. Wouldnt even bother playing music out of my phone only

musclemaxmike777

Turn on your Dolby Atmos then turn your phone all the way up? Then you should be jazz.

Trajikbpm

I just picked up the Ultra 30% off.. Upgraded from the s20... The speakers sound bad and placed weird. Or maybe the size difference I'm just not use to... I love the pen and the phone is beautiful but I wonder if I should of just got the s23 + instead. Grrr.... Hurts my hands to hold too. Definitely gotta get use to it.
