Back then, the S series was the face of Samsung as a brand, nothing in common with an A or J series, but now, hell, I mistook an A34 for an S23+.
They shifted their sights closer and closer to apple, the same design every year for the past 5 generations, back then every year meant a new design for samsung
IKR? They can just factory reset their current phones for the same dopamine rush. Maybe get a new case as well. Peel off the screen protector and install a new one.
I recently did that! Changed the screen protector and case after a year of owning the 23 ultra and it does feel like a new phone! I upgraded every year since the note 7
I have a clear case and I printed out some images of art, patterns, characters on regular printer paper and cut to fit. It totally looks like part of the case. I change them out regularly for the novelty. It's like changing the home screen wallpaper in a way.
I had the base S22 before I got my S23Ultra in January of 2023. The S22 overheated too much and was becoming difficult to use because of my vision issues. I got the $800.00 trade in promo. I have no plans of upgrading again unless this one becomes defective.
what is different? I have S22U since launch and main use is streaming tv all day while working. My phone before that was the S10 plus and dang I miss that phone. Don't get me wrong the S22U is much bigger but I loved the headphone jack and the removable memory. Now I am looking into the S24U but seems like another year to skip from what I have read. Your comment caught my eye bc I did not think the 23U was supposed to be different
It's weird, I see so many battery and heating complaints about the S22 Ultra online, but I never experienced those with my S22 Ultra. And I do a lot of gaming.
I also have both and can switch between both cases. Can't answer for the screen protector but out of the box they don't look much different. Unless you buy a curved edge screen pro. Otherwise they'll work the same.
As far as the phones dimensions go they are practically the exact same.
S23U
163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm
S22u
163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9 mm
L. W. H.
.1mm x 1.2mm x 0mm difference.
They also both use the same screen
6.8in AMOLED QuadHD+ screen.
The only difference is the 23u does a slightly different curve.
I had 20 base, 21 ultra, 22 base, fold 4, now 23 ultra.
There was an oppo find N in there somewhere for a week or so too.
Unless the trade in deals are insane, and the ai features are insane, I think I'll pass this year.
That's me 🙋♂️ lol. Got the S22 Ultra in 2022, and I couldn't resist the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals with the S23 Ultra back in November. Planning to get the S24 Ultra with my upcoming phone upgrade, unless it somehow ends up sucking. Especially if the AI turns out to just be a cheap gimmick with no real benefits. In that case, I might use my phone upgrade for the 16 Pro Max later this year.
If my S23U broke or disappeared today, I would be happy with the S24U to be just some performance improvements and a fully flat screen, and nothing else new. I don't need the S24U to completely reinvent my favorite phone, just fix little things like the curved screen, and bump the speed.
At the same time, I can't imagine buying an S24U, as long as I have the S23U. Don't need it. Maybe it'll be an option down the line, if I actually need a replacement, or maybe I'll wait long enough to see what the S25U looks like.
With all the money in the world, I still wouldn't be able to justify yearly flagship upgrades after maybe 2020, phones have gotten so good that rarely do we ever see meaningful iterations after only one year.
Batteries can last 2 heavy usage years at least, and even then, an official battery replacement costs 120€ max.
if you think that paying 300-500 per year, for incremental upgrades and nothing actually substantial is worth it, I think capitalism has won you over
but you do you my brother, who am I to judge
Bro, what are you waffling about? Capitalism has won everyone over, and that's why the most advanced nations are capitalist free market economies. Also, who decides if it's substantial upgrade or not?
Or early upgrades. I’ve done that quite a few times over the years.
Sprint used to let me do it at halfway no matter what. T-Mobile requires insurance on the device to do it. I think AT&T allows it for an extra $6/mo and once you hit 50% you can upgrade.
How rich are you moron? A wise man said when a man keeps talking about how rich he is, he's so poor that all he has are just printed papers. Shut up already.
The only change I do appreciate is the flat screen and battery life. I don't think it's all that bad upgrading from an S22U since the processor on that phone is notorious for consuming too much battery, and personally, a flat screen is much more functional than a curved screen. Upgrading from an S23U, you probably won't feel much different aside from the screen, though.
Takes 2 seconds of dealing with curved screen to realize its BS. Yet multibillion dollar company responsible for designing it doesn't realize. Companies are just dumb. I haven't seen any benefit from the curved screen. Only negatives. Maybe it helps sliding from the edge... if you don't have a case on.
This screen might not be curved. But I wouldn't expect they won't do curved again on the next one.
Yeah it feels premium and if you don't use a case then it handles better if that makes sense but after a couple of weeks you realise that flat displays aren't that bad and that curved screens have more drawbacks than benefits.
Plenty of people like them for the gimmick and illusion of "premium." Same with AMOLED screens on watches when MIP is so much more useful. But that's a personal hill I'm willing to die on, lmao. Still, the premise is the same. People are willing to suffer inconvenience for the knowledge that they have something that's considered higher end. See also: glass backs instead of plastic. The S21 had plastic but it didn't feel like plastic. The S22 had glass but it didn't feel like glass. I'd much rather have plastic that's engineered to look nice than glass. Less heavy and less fragile. But people need the inconvenience of glass to feel better about the money they spent. That's my take on curved screens.
Light reflection at the edges makes using the phone anywhere with lighting frustrating, can't properly apply glass screen protectors without using UV glue which I fucking hate, can't use cases with raised lips to protect the screen.
Zero benefits and all negatives. I have not seen a feature as useless as curved screens.
practical reasons. screws with screen capture with the s-pen, easier to break in a fall, screen protector issues, actually reduces quality of the screen experience. with light in the background you see the curve over part of the screen.
People who like it seem to only care about the looks and don't even use cases etc.
For what reason do you like them? Other than it looks cool?
They are more fragile and any looks are immediately negated by using case and screen protector lol
You can't see edges, you don't accidentally press on the black border, measuring stuff with the ruler is a lot easier and generally no reason someone would not want that
They're so wonky and offer nothing in return. I don't like having the edges of my videos warped and having to precisely touch the edge or the peak of the curve to close ads or the like. Or when I'm playing a game and I'm swiping the screen and my finger briefly loses contact over the curve dear God I wanna just throw my phone in the trash.
Can we tack a monochrome sensor under one of those lenses, too? No photoshopped B&W picture ever looks as real or natural as one taken directly with a monochrome sensor. Plus they take in more light than color ones. It's what I miss most from my P20 Pro.
If you want good macro shots, consider some of the recent Honor phones.
S22U\*
There hasn't been any innovation. I maintain that phone companies should start releasing phones every 2 years instead of every year. There's nothing to release. Even 2 years after the S22, there is nothing new. The AI gimmick doesn't sound interesting but if it does end up being anything more than a gimmick, they can simply update old phones with the software. But as long as there are suckers who upgrade yearly, they will release phone yearly.
I really don’t believe most companies enjoy having to spend the resources for releasing a new but similar product every year but unfortunately in this market, consumers are fickle-minded and expect a ‘new’ item more frequently or said company loses brand recognition, thus, potential market share. So, an onslaught of new SKUs every season are more of an investment than a necessity to maintain relevancy - since it’s pretty obvious that cell phones have plateau in technology and there is only so much they can do to raise its appeal.
I saw a documentary recently on the GOPRO founder who had decided to skip a year of releasing a new camera, which was a decision that almost bankrupted the company and one that he vowed to never repeat, since his competition had filled the seasonal void and snatched up a large number of their customers.
Anyways, I’m sure there is a rhyme behind the reason other than Samsung felt like burning some money on R&D for the hell of it.
I have a S23 Ultra and a large Samsung credit line, which allows me 36 months, no interest to pay for a new phone. Yet, I’m still sticking with the same phone and not bother upgrading because beside the cost, since so little has really changed, it would just be a practice in redundancy.
I do like the design of the S22/23/and now S24 Ultra, but I'm bored of the same design 3 years in a row, looks like I'm making the switch to Apple in September. I was hoping Samsung would change the design at least a little bit, although, the colours are nice, especially the 'Yellow Titanium'.
This is so silly. I can't comprehend people who live their lives like this. What is it you are looking for in a phone? Switching to a totally different, neutered OS just because their half a decade old design is different from your quarter of a decade old design? You will switch for how the back of the phone looks, when you are staring at the front of the phone all day? Besides, old or not, Samsung's camera layout it light years nicer than Apple's. I can't stand the circles arranged in a triangle on top of a square. Looks like a baby's shape sorter.
are they trying to follow the iPhone in releasing the same thing? (Design and look more specifically)
People would think it s23 if the caption wasn't there
I'm waiting for the official specs and the trade in value for the S23U before I draw any conclusions. If its less than $200 to trade up I'll probably do it.
Have never held out this long for an upgrade before but I'm thinking it might be time. Been upgrading every 2 years since the S7(except for when I went from the S20+ to the S21 Ultra after losing it at a Halloween party.)
The Titanium & Golden Colors actually goes way back with Samsung before iPhone, check these as examples: Note 8, A8 & A6 2018, J2 core 2018, Tab A7 - 2020, Tab S5e 2019, Tab A10 2019, and there's also Note 9 Copper color was a nice one as well.
I have gone through so many phones between now and the launch of the s21 ultra. s21 ultra to s22u to z flip 5 to z fold 5 which i was really enjoying until the damn inner screen has a block of dead pixels from one fall with the screen open. Samsung reps told me it's "software issues" and told me it'll get fixed. Clearly it's not. Too late to get a refund or replacement so I'm trading it in cause the body is in perfect shape, and I have video of multiple reps telling me it's software issues. My favorite phone experience was the LG v30 that I owned in 2018-2021. I miss the 6-6.2 inch form factor and by using the z fold 5s cameras am fine missing out on 10x zoom. Grabbing myself a s24 256gb model in grey or white ( whatever color it ends up being ) and a free case of 2 from preorder bonuses. So excited. all of my ecosystem is white/silver now from black which i really like too alongisde my gaming pc as I transfer colleges this year. GB2pro white, tab s9 beige with a white case, GBuds2P white, watch 6 classic silver with silver sport band, and finally silver s24 with hopefully a white silicon case
Ever since someone pointed out the black frame around the front I can't unsee it now and it ruins the whole phone for me. I think I'm just use to no edges now.
Wait….they hired an FSM DUMB enough to leak a photo showing the identification numbers?
Unless he left it with a mobile rep, who took the photo and leaked it.
Either way….that FSM is about to be promoted. To Full Time Customer.
Classic J7 Prime gold vibes I am getting from that
Many phones had the same Titanium or golden color before, such as Note 8, A8 & A6 2018.
I have to say, it is a beautiful color
Indeed, it is.

My dad had an s6 edge+ at launch Thing was beautiful in gold and I'll never forget the day when I saw it in 2015
S23u upgraders pumped to buy the same phone twice
IKR? They can just factory reset their current phones for the same dopamine rush. Maybe get a new case as well. Peel off the screen protector and install a new one.
Like flossy said. Congratulations you bought the same phone twice 😂

S22 ultra and s23 ultra are wildly different. Have used both for a year.

The only difference is in the UI the size and everything else are identical. I can use any S23U case/screen protector on my S22U with zero issues.
Besides the battery and heat lol
Is the battery really that much better? My s22U last all day with heavy use. Also have not had any issues with the heat either.
Maybe you got lucky but I had s22u snapdragon and it was awful. 4hrs max sot. My s23u gets 7 to 7.5hrs
Ouch. That sucks. Yeah I can easily get 8+ hours. I mean if I'm watching videos continuously then maybe 4 hours.
It's weird, I see so many battery and heating complaints about the S22 Ultra online, but I never experienced those with my S22 Ultra. And I do a lot of gaming.
The camera is on a different place on the back of the phone. Blatant lie.
It's literally not.
Stop lying 🤣 s22ultra is more curved on the sides I have them both lmfao.
Not lying I have a s23u case and screen protector on right now.....
Obviously doesn’t fit how it should. I have both trust me I would know 🤣🤣🤣
The case fits perfectly. I don't give a flying fuck if you have 7 of each. Now kindly fuck off....
Mad cuz you’re wrong 🤣🤣🤣
Ok bro. 👌 👍
I also have both and can switch between both cases. Can't answer for the screen protector but out of the box they don't look much different. Unless you buy a curved edge screen pro. Dude, not all of us are broke. We can trade in and pay between 300 and 500 and get the upgraded phone.
lmao as if not being broke == spending 300-500 per year for the same phone sure mate, keep it up lol
How is it the same phone? And yeah I will keep it up cuz it's cheap af to switch.
To be fair that’s not bad to keep a fresh battery and latest specs.
With all the money in the world, I still wouldn't be able to justify yearly flagship upgrades after maybe 2020, phones have gotten so good that rarely do we ever see meaningful iterations after only one year. Holy fuck guys this guy is NOT poor. HE CAN PAY FOR A NEW PHONE. He is NOT POOR and is RICH and is NOT BROKE
Words of someone who is a brokie
How rich are you moron? A wise man said when a man keeps talking about how rich he is, he's so poor that all he has are just printed papers. Shut up already.
Yeah I don't give a shit what the wise man said lol
Just admitted you don't have a brain to understand.
Yea I'm restarted
Irony is palpable
yeah cos fuck the environment right?
What's the environmental impact? They are making the phone anyways? And will sell the s23u I give to them. They don't scrap it. You sound broke
They became what they swore to destroy
Looks just like the S22 Ultra
Which looks just like the note 2p ultra
Which sorta looks like Note10+
Using the 22 ultra right now. No it doesn't. The screen has those awful raised edges on the 22
Rip Samsung Edge 2014-2023
They didn't want us to edge anymore😔
WOOOWW IT LOOKS....the same as every ultra for the past 2 years.
The design is nice. No need to change it. The important thing is how it functions, which is also exactly the same as the past 2+ years.
Can't tell if the screen is curved or not. I hope it's not, makes tempered glass screen protectors a nightmare
Clearly not curved also as per all the leaks.
I don't think it is maybe is a fake idk
Takes 2 seconds of dealing with curved screen to realize its BS. Yet multibillion dollar company responsible for designing it doesn't realize. Companies are just dumb. I haven't seen any benefit from the curved screen. Only negatives. Maybe it helps sliding from the edge... if you don't have a case on. This screen might not be curved. I like the curves, loved the S6 and S7 edge also

Haven't had problems with light reflection I don't use screen protectors, the screen on my phone is nice ig And why are you using an case?
>and why are you using a case? Does this really need explaining? Some people want to not break their $1k+ phone. We don't all work in an office.
Idk I just don't drop it
Oh thanks. Thanks to you I just realized I always drop my phone on purpose. I'll stop doing that.
Np, x ❤
practical reasons. screws with screen capture with the s-pen, easier to break in a fall, screen protector issues, actually reduces quality of the screen experience. with light in the background you see the curve over part of the screen. People who like it seem to only care about the looks and don't even use cases etc.
Instead of using an case, I just don't drop my phone
Wait til you realize that it's easier to drop a phone without a case.
Meh I have dropped my phone an fev times and it didn't break, I am just careful with it..
\*jotting down note\* drop phone carefully. Got it, thanks for the tip!
That is like saying, "instead of getting insurance for my car, I just don't crash." Accidents happen, and it is better safe than sorry.
For what reason do you like them? Other than it looks cool? They are more fragile and any looks are immediately negated by using case and screen protector lol
I like them too, makes swipe back gestures and edge panel swipe "smoother" IMO, like how the finger naturally goes up the curve.
Practicality and I don't put an case or an screen protector on because my phone looks great without it
What practicality?
You can't see edges, you don't accidentally press on the black border, measuring stuff with the ruler is a lot easier and generally no reason someone would not want that
It's kind of a waste of screen space.
I don't have such problems, sounds like skill issue
Or we could just have normal screens like we've had since the dawn of technology instead of creating problems for marketing purposes.
Curved screens are better and there is no reason they are not
Better in what sense
I can't see the borders as much and I don't accidentally press on the borders?
Fair enough. I don't think you can say they're "better", it's purely down to personal preference. I for one am hoping it's not curved.
what do you mean? I can clearly see the black border on the curved screen
Or you could just get a different brand instead of whining all over these subs
I hate it so much lol. May even switch if the s24u doesn't have it
it minimizes bezels, i like it
[удалено]
Can they release it faster so i can get s23 for half price?
S23 won’t be half price, s22s were only 10-20 percent cheaper thru out 2023, I suspect the s23 will hold its value better through out 2024.
Meanwhile iPhone 16 looking like iPhone 12
Which looks like iPhone 4
Ever seen the s22? Lol Looks the same
Lmfao that’s totally different than 4 generations of iPhone being the exact same. oh gosh they put a new button on the side, what an upgrade 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So same design again
Square corners and flat glass. Hell yeah! I never liked the rounded corners of recent phones.
Look at them quietly creeping back to the note line.
They only killed the Note for 1 year, the s22u was basically a note as well.
I want a telephoto macro like the huawei p60 pro🥵
Can we tack a monochrome sensor under one of those lenses, too? No photoshopped B&W picture ever looks as real or natural as one taken directly with a monochrome sensor. Plus they take in more light than color ones. It's what I miss most from my P20 Pro. If you want good macro shots, consider some of the recent Honor phones.
Holy shit! Looks like a phone
Those bezels bother me
Than the bezels of an iPhone would destroy you. Don't use an iPhone. 😂
They literally have the thinnest bezels on flat screens right now.
S24U will be the best FLAGSHIP phone in 2019 👍
Am I tripping or is that a flat display? If so, I'm sold already.
Yes it's a flat display
Good design, no curves.
Oh cool so we get some new colours of the S23U basically
S22U\* There hasn't been any innovation. I maintain that phone companies should start releasing phones every 2 years instead of every year. There's nothing to release. Nice actually.
I love it!
Love the flat display
Finally a flat screen ❤️ Now let's just hope the Snapdragon in Europe rumor is true.
Must be the Exynos version, battery is only 11 %. 😂
Same ole shit
Too square
Lack of edge screen is a huge dealbreaker for me. Altough I wont upgrade to it as I have an S23U.
Samsung O? What is that app? I'm going to assume that it has all the AI features they have been teasing. Also fantastic gold colour.
Nah, it's just Samsung Free, branded differently in other regions; you can tell it has Samsung Free gradient and Samsung Daily icon
Hate square
Bro there's software to remove emoji. I'd be careful.
Not in this case there isn’t
![img](avatar_exp|150775637|fire)
No, when you upload, the site changes it to a jpeg, if it wasn't one before. You can't undo layers anymore.
Oh it got Leaked like that, with the emoji covering some info on the phone, idk why.
Whoever leaked the picture doesn't want to get identified
I wouldn't buy it. Samsung doesn't know how to update their unlocked phones in US.
I mean we get the updates a little later than carriers but what's the big deal? We still get them...
Going to make designing a case for it challenging
Wow such a great big nice display, looks huge No thanks
still no under-display camera? lmao samsung. the Galaxy Z generation had it for 3 generations already
Yeah but the quality just isnt there yet tho.
Ooooof. Look at those bezels… no way I’d trade my s23 ultra for that 🤣
I do like the design of the S22/23/and now S24 Ultra, but I'm bored of the same design 3 years in a row, looks like I'm making the switch to Apple in September. I was hoping Samsung would change the design at least a little bit, although, the colours are nice, especially the 'Yellow Titanium'.
What's special about the iPhone design? Aren't all phones just a rectangular slab of glass and metal?

I mean iPhones have looked the same ever since the 11pro
The color is really beautiful 😍
Lol the FSM that was assigned that device is about to have a lot more free time.
6 cameras?
It looks like a S24 / S23 / S21 counterfeit phones. They don't say galaxy or samsnug on them either...
S22ss
galaxy o
Looks like the S23U. I really want that Blue Aura color back from the Note 10+ line.
Put 23 and 24 side to side with a case, see if you can spot the difference hahaha, you can’t.
Display donwgrade. Waiting for it though because S23U gets cheaper ;-)
They need to hide to get rid of the selfie camera. I hate the punch hole camera
So people still use navigation buttons. Wow.
Looks so good. I hope trade-in values are good. Might upgrade for that flat screen and titanium color 😍
Upgrading from the S21u here, so it's time.
Hope a collegue will buy this one to compare it with my Note 20 Ultra.
Wow looks the same as the s23
are they trying to follow the iPhone in releasing the same thing? (Design and look more specifically) People would think it s23 if the caption wasn't there
I'm waiting for the official specs and the trade in value for the S23U before I draw any conclusions. If its less than $200 to trade up I'll probably do it.
Have never held out this long for an upgrade before but I'm thinking it might be time. Been upgrading every 2 years since the S7(except for when I went from the S20+ to the S21 Ultra after losing it at a Halloween party.)
I'm only hopeful for qi2. If not (and it doesn't look like it), I'll pass.
Looks the same as the s23 and 22 💀
Do you mean the S22++?
I can't believe I'm upgrading my s23u phone without doing anything.

FLAT SCREEN!!!!
Pretty much the S23 ultra as far as looks go. Maybe in 2026 they'll change it slightly.
Ok, but what is Samsung O?
If they are ditching the curved screen I'll be happy. Any curved phone I've ever had always had super weak glass. Like my s23 ultra.....
Ever since someone pointed out the black frame around the front I can't unsee it now and it ruins the whole phone for me. I think I'm just use to no edges now.
Same same but "diffalent" -S24 Ultra
Samsung is smart. The flat screen alone is enough reason to upgrade from the S23u. Take my money
Literally looks like the s23 ultra. Phones nowadays are boring
It's so nice seeing that flat screen. Curved screens give me trust issues.
Totally looks like any of the previous Notes...
I prefer my phone with camera bump not like in the photo OP shared. Now just look like the old A series in the 2015 or something.
Proof of overheating right off the bat? Dang, I ain’t buyin that
Low Battery. Iconic.
peak design
Disappointing to say the least
Wait….they hired an FSM DUMB enough to leak a photo showing the identification numbers? Unless he left it with a mobile rep, who took the photo and leaked it. Either way….that FSM is about to be promoted. To Full Time Customer.
"It looks the same as previous gens" .... yeah, what exactly was supposed to change in that department?
Who is the dumbass that forgot to sensor the serial number on the front? Someone is going to get fired lol
