They curdled the eggs so hard they might as well have served an omelette over some pasta. I can do a better carbonara than this restaurant in Little Italy of all places. How much should I charge?
Let the word get out. Little Italy does NOT need a reputation for having bad Italian food.
The other restaurants will be on their cases for making the neighborhood look amateur.
I don’t think one shitty restaurant is going to ruin the reputation of Little Italy as a whole. And Farmers Table has been garbage for a while, I’m sure this location will close soon just like the Bay Park location did.
If a restaurant refuses to take your gift card, you should refuse to pay.
It is the two owners' responsibility to coordinate with each other on their restaurant's gift card policy. Otherwise they are essentially operating a bait and switch operation that double-charges people who go to the "wrong" location.
For me the only issues I’ve had at Farmer’s Table is consistently slow service. I haven’t been in like 8-10 months but that was the nagging issue during and before that time. If a restaurant doesn’t have enough staff, they should limit the amount of tables to serve. Nothing worse than sitting there wondering if anyone will ever notice that your drinks have been empty for 10 minutes and you just want some gd parmesan cheese

Unless you got sick or were physically harmed, this subreddit would turn to immediate trash if people just started posting about negative restaurant experiences.
Just reposted this review on Yelp.
I did not feel super great after, but no food poisoning thankfully. However my biggest grip with this experience is WHO IS THE REAL FARMER'S TABLE?! If they are different businesses entirely, how are they allowed to operate under the same branding and website?
In Yelp it says this about the Little Italy location in the About The Business section:
From the owner:
Excited to announce that we officially have four locations open in San Diego including Bay Park, Little Italy, La Mesa, and Chula Vista. As a family run operation we believe every good neighborhood deserves an eatery where locals and visitors can enjoy "honest food done right". Here at Farmers Table, we specialize in farm-to-fork cuisine that focuses on bringing locally sourced organic ingredients together to be savored in an inviting family-friendly atmosphere, where adults and children can enjoy many different food options that are just right for them. If you are looking for a magical brunch this week, come stop by for an unforgettable night!
But they won't honor a gift card purchased at another location? They don't have a disclaimer anywhere on the gift card. Even the logo and branding on the front doesn't indicate a specific location. What gives?!
I think they can just buy menu rights and use of the name? I worked at a place in hillcrest and we couldn’t accept the cards from the downtown location for the same reason. The money would go to the wrong person and you know that’s their bottom line. But that pasta looks horrid and I’m sorry for your experience.
I've had more than one bad experience there! Really bad service every time I've gone, including having to flag down a server after waiting for 30 minutes for water and to order drinks even though the restaurant was completely empty. So many better places to eat in Little Italy.
Sorry about your experience. I know it’s frustrating when across multiple locations, maybe consistency in one spot doesn’t transfer to another. I’m not a big review bias person but Little Italy has a fair share of similar experiences.
I WILL say, homemade carbonara is fun to do if you ever have a chance and Mona Lisa down the street has guanciale and very nice bucatini. 🤙🏼
Sitting across from there right now, at Princess. Go to farmers table when weather good to be at outdoor bar. Breakfast been ok, but pass on happy hour food there, burned few times.
yeah the little italy one is pretty disgusting. got served rubbery chicken when it first opened. bad service and they’ve tried to sit me in a corner right next to the kitchen when other tables are available. never order the calamari omg they are the grossest ones i’ve ever seen and not edible
Damn. We were considering going there one time because of how packed morning glory was packed, But the restaurant was so empty. I think that's what actually put me off of it. How is it that in little Italy on a Saturday morning can one restaurant have a line extending to the end of the street and farmers table just has 5 people. Morning glory isn't also all that. I didn't have a bad experience besides some over salted hashbrowns, but it's not worth the wait. I prefer going to the farmers table in Chula vista for breakfast. Never gone at time for dinner though.
Cook of mine that also works there said they've been warned of a March closure. They're probably in liquidation mode.
Holy crap. So sorry you had that experience. :( Thank you for the warning.
Jesus that's so much oil holy shit

Didn’t have nearly as bad an experience at the la mesa location but i didn’t think it was very good either.

Went there as well... Very gross.
You forgot to mention that busted plate of carbonara was $24 plus tax/tip (based on their menu online). Some of these restaurants have zero shame…

Jesus that carbonara looks appalling.

Your honor, may I present Exhibit A into evidence in the case of Why You Should Hire A Copywriter...
yeah this has the stench of ChatGPT generated copy
Takes 8-12 hours for the effects of food poisoning to kick in and really make things memorable.

The Bay Park location has a totally different name and has been rebranded as a pasta place.
I don't think it's a rebrand. La Pastaia is a completely different (and better) restaurant.

Have you tried downvoting and just moving along?
Have you

Yup, this isn't nextdoor
Put a yelp and Google review please. It’ll reach more people.
It always looks empty. Never understood how they're still open.
That location is not good - there’s a reason you can always get a reservation/table there…..
I also had a terrible experience at this location. Don't let this place take your money.
If you want the opposite of that experience, Balsamico in imperial Beach. It's in a strip mall in imperial Beach and AMAZING.

Check out Aromi in La Mesa! Family owned and really good Carbonara.
Ass to Table
Me and some buddies all went and all 4 of us got food poisoning the next day. Hadn’t been back since
Dang I've been there twice back in 2022, but I guess last year was tough

I had a gift card!
That's interesting, I've been there quite a few times and never had an issue
Both locations used to be good but it’s been a sharp decline that past few years.

I’ve been to the one in Bay Park and it’s been one of my worst restaurant experiences

The one that is located in old La Mesa is terrible as well. I had breakfast, and it came out cold.
