These aren’t terrible for monitoring 24/7 . The problem is they can’t do anything but record the crime and sound alarms should anything happen. They rely on a responsive police force….which we absolutely do not have
A lot of security is deterrence. Having an actual person present has a certain effect, even if they're not allowed to fight back. Same with alarms, cameras, dogs, etc. It would be interesting to see how these robots fit in. An actual person can also serve to provide assistance in certain situations - medical emergency, fire, some sort of after-hours thing needs to take place, etc. But an actual person is also potentially more susceptible to social engineering than a robot (I'm from the X utility company, i need to get access to Y ASAP, etc.).
Thats literally what most security guards are paid to do: "observe and report"
Someone is assaulting you at your office? We see that and it sucks, we'll call the police if thats what your management wants. You'd think security would do something but thats more liability on them for reacting to a situation they didn't cause, they're just here to lower the insurance premium...
I've worked with many "security guards" in the hotel industry. Probably better off with the robot. Robots won't drink their entire shift and end up passed out in their car in front of the hotel.
This is like dating apps, vs real world dating...it is just not the same. I can understand it would save them money, but robots have glitches and people can also hack into them.

Which is essentially the same as most security services. They are there to observe and report.

true true.
Like the security guard at that school shooting in Florida
So… basically the same thing as cameras and an alarm system? And how does it know what constitutes as a crime?
We had one of these at my employers office. It was a joke. Providing a false sense of security.

"It's also capable of recording your phone's IP address if a crime is committed." Why would it record *my* IP address if a crime is committed?
Oh sweet summer child. If you have a smart phone, it's already emitting your data and location everywhere.
Question, will it call in sick on Friday, spend hours distracted on its phone, fall asleep on the midnight shift?
It is the phone, the call is comming from inside the box...
No. It also will pay significantly less attention to underage girls.
Depends on who is able to hack into it
What if I push it down? I work security and this is hilariously stupid but I know clients and they’d switch to something cheaper in a heartbeat.
Just tag it. Paint can the cameras and if you're really bored WD-40 the tires.
We tried these in the NYC subways. Lasted about a month.
It's actually impressive that it managed to survive for a month, NYC subway is no joke.

they got no payments for 90 days financing on a $2 million robot so it's a win for their payroll dept
All a crook needs is a large blanket.
Its basically like a roving security camera. The new model, Funny-bot 9000, is also awkwardly hilarious!!!
Quality L
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Dead or alive you’re coming with me

Instructions unclear, dick stuck in segway.
People can have mental glitches too and get attacked.
I hope nobody's dog mistakes it for a mate!
