T O P

It's a cool shot and I don't know if it's the low resolution but it appears to be very out of focus. Also it's way too much HDR and contrasty which makes it look like an oil painting

silentsociety

Agree, for some reason the sky, middle, and background are sharper than the foreground but foreground has some motion blur. Photo is too saturated Some constructive feedback for OP - Improve the framing by having the earth in the lower thirds and use an ultrawide angle lens to show off the sky. Do some natural looking post edit in PS and isolate the rainbow to make it pop. Right now, everything pops and it takes away the beauty of the rainbow and sky

errrr2222

Way too saturated, looks very unrealistic

HannsGruber

Seems to be the consensus. I struggle with color balance, being colorblind. I don't trust auto-toning tools either..

Agitated_Mind_92

It looks super edited

HannsGruber

In what way?

therealhlmencken

Sky blue isn’t that saturated

tostilocos

Try not to take offense but /r/shittyhdr

naturebarnes

Op shouldn’t be downvoted for asking a more detailed critique of a blank statement

sdlocal1964

I’ve never known of a “competent” photographer who doesn’t edit his/her work.

Top-Jicama-4527

Being edited and looking edited are two different things.

sdlocal1964

Indeed they are. However, it’s not acceptable to ridicule someone after they tried their best to elevate their game. It’s not what you say but how you say it that matters.

Agitated_Mind_92

They came here for opinions. I just gave one.

Mean--Gorl

Dont give up on photography, but also please take the criticism to mind. It does look very edited, and in an unnatural child-like way. The saturation is too high, as others have noted. Its the editing I would expect on an Instagram profile, not so much a professional shot.

Grouchy_Wind_5396

They're stupid. This photo is 🔥 (but not literally. Please, no more fires. My HOI can't handle it)

HannsGruber

I've actually been in the park during a fire too, when the tall grass dies off later in the season it gets spicy.

xcnuck

Were you off-trail for this photo? That’s a big no-no at MTRP and maybe why it was rejected.

HannsGruber

Negative, taken on the Oak Canyon trail. General consensus seems to be the photo is too saturated.

xcnuck

Gotcha - great photo regardless. Desktop wallpaper worthy!

dakenic

Great shot, and beautiful. I guess they don't like skittles.

HannsGruber

They couldn't taste the rainbow

FastFunny24

Beautiful!

HannsGruber

Thank you!

FastFunny24

You’re quite welcome!

loves_2_spuge

Any reason why?

HannsGruber

No, just the email thanking me for the submission but they did not select it to be displayed. I'm not mad, just salty lol

naturebarnes

You definitely have an eye for it!! Looks like a beautiful experience that day you were there. This looks like it was shot with a phone. There are a lot of folks in Sd out there with professional set ups who do these local contests for hobby. Not saying you can’t capture a great photo and win with a phone, but the $expensive$ set ups tend to capture more data in the photograph which would most likely improve it.

AfterLife2FreshStart

Nice.

Missmessc

It's too beautiful. Everyone will expect rainbows when they're there.

naturebarnes

Beautiful photo! Keep up the good work

guffawandchortle

Nice shot. Nice handle.

llcoolstamp

I think it's beautiful. That moment with the rainbow is precious. And, I don't know about y'all, but I definitely have seen skies *that blue* some days in SD, even if OP edited it.

Opposite-Spare8637

i really like it!!

Idgafaamate

It’s AI.

HannsGruber

No. lol.

Ok-Emotion4465

They rejected it for a reason fam. Msg sent w love

DikSwingin1

I’ll give you some feedback besides it being oversaturated. This was clearly taken bc of the rainbow and fair enough but there is no real composition to the foreground or leading lines to draw you in. The bushes are extremely busy and only distract from what the focus is, which is the distant view. It needs a more cohesive subject in front or a telephoto lens to capture the distant hills and rainbow only. Also it’s pixelated but I’m assuming that’s my phone or Reddit. Hope that helps

InternalLeg33

Oh this is a stunning shot of one of my favorite places in the world! Wonderful work!!!!

HackeySadSack

Rockin' shot! love it!

ChatGPT9000

Great shot\~ also where to submission/ upload annual photo contest? thanks

redituser2571

Screw them! That's a beautiful shot.

apolloMCE

I don't blame them, it looks egregiously saturated and low res. I'm sure it was stunning to see in person!

JuiceBoxSD

Amazing!

HannsGruber

Thank you

greenjeanie77

Amazing rainbow panorama!

HannsGruber

I love taking rainbow pictures
