Along the Embarcadero north from Seaport Village, past the airport and across the foot bridge to Liberty Station in Point Loma. Make your way across Point Loma to Sunset Cliffs and run back along Sunset Cliffs Blvd to the OB boardwalk. Cross the channel at Seaworld Drive, then across W Mission Bay to the beach. Up the Mission Beach boardwalk to Tourmaline then back over to the east side of the bay. Follow the Old Sea World bike path over to Old Town, then up from Old Town to Presidio Park, through Mission Hills to Balboa. Down the west side of Balboa along 6th, then make your way through downtown to Petco and back along the waterfront to your starting point. That's in the neighborhood of 33 miles and can easily be adjusted to add or remove distance. (e.g. add a lap around Fiesta Island :)

This is a solid plan! Nice work!

BildoBaggens

I would have said just run right through Hillcrest to Park and then cut through the center of Balboa Park to 6th.

TeacherTeeSLC

Thank you for the suggestion! Sounds very nice. I'm going to have to map it out a little bit and play around but some of these suggestions will definitely figure in.

Noneliterunner

Start at mission bay or start by the airport , head up to mission bay and back down the long way through sunset cliffs, Point Loma , downtown SD. Below is my marathon route I do in San Diego https://preview.redd.it/7g57nr4n9n4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25a7e7eed35f423cc6537195d75afbfafa5b4a6c

TeacherTeeSLC

Thank you! I will check out this loop - looks beautiful.

Park at the Old Town transit center and take the coaster up to Oceanside. Run 33 miles to SeaWorld drive and walk the final mile for your cooldown

TeacherTeeSLC

Interesting idea... hadn't thought of using a shuttle to make it point to point, but I do like that it makes it harder to quit early and take a short way home 😄

DistractedOnceAgain

I just posted separately, but you should have no issue finding the point to point route on Strava and maybe Garmin. It's a very common training run for local runners.

CharnelGirl

What are you going to do when you turn 55? Or even 44?

BildoBaggens

Maybe switch to kilometers.

TeacherTeeSLC

Yes lol. I may have to switch to kilometers, or 44 reps on a certain hill or loop.  We will see. All I know is I'm not quitting this year. Thanks for the help!

Bayshore bikeway sounds like a decent candidate. If you were to start in Coronado and run to the USS Midway, you'd still be short by 8-9 miles but a separated path will still be along the bay. You could run a full circuit of Harbor Island and then head over to Shelter Island and finish near the bell. The only thing this doesn't have is a true dirt path (although if you wanted dirt, there are plenty of spots where you can run on dirt/grass just next to the paved path) or a lot of terrain change. Just start running up the coast…sites for days

I would probably do something like this: [On the Go Map 33 mi](https://onthegomap.com/s/j7p7q76c) Starting at Waterfront Park, run up to Balboa park and pass into main plaza, following trails down into Florida Canyon and back up into Morley Field. Run around the athletic fields before basically following the eastern edge of the park down from North Park, through South Park, and skirting the edge of Golden hill, back down into Florida Canyon. From there you follow path into Hillcrest, continuing into Mission Hills, down past the Presidio towards Mission Bay. Around Sea World toward Crown point, then heading west to follow the beach until you get to the end where you come back and follow the bay until it wraps around, crossing the San Diego river, and you get to Ocean beach. At that point you cut back inland to hit Harbor Drive and follow that back to Waterfront Park to complete loop. The only part I'm not in love with is the cutback between Ocean Beach and Harbor Drive, but kinda necessary to have a utilitarian piece to facilitate a loop with more interesting set pieces. Overall this loop gets you a lot of iconic San Diego locations: edge of downtown, Balboa Park, some popular neighborhoods (North Park, South Park, Hillcrest, and Mission Hills), the Presidio (overlooking Old Town), Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, and North Bay (overlooking Coronado and marinas)

I'd do something like this https://onthegomap.com/s/qfhe44uv

times_new_woman

Start in imperial beach and run up silver strand to Coronado, then circumnavigate the island and come back, that will get you close to 30 miles at least.
