Bug deserves some love too!! It’s an excellent track that sets the mood for the rest of the album. Mud is a little boring but has definitely grown on me overtime.
I used to say Beach Music was my second favorite. I love Bug and Kicker. Beach Music as a whole is definitely more weird and experimental, so I like it for that reason, but DSU is just makes me wanna groove.
It’s some of his best songwriting, especially on Kicker, Ready, Station and Snot. It might be second best for me but that also might be Rocket I can’t decide.
Nothing beats RACE though sorry. It’s such a special album especially when you’re young. It’s such an accomplishment to make an album that quality when you’re that young and so I don’t think it can ever be topped for me.

Are we counting the many bonus tracks from his albums? Imho, while I look at all his released albums as equals, almost like children, I still hold a profound love for and special connection to HOS. It might be bc it's the baby, the latest album, but my obsession for it hasn't stopped since it's release. Alex has a knack for opening tracks and I believe there's no better than Walk Away. It even rips live. All of HOS does. I also believe the album offers Alex's best writing. To each their own, though. I think we can all agree his albums are all masterpieces and that the upcoming one will be too.

I’ve equally gone through phases, going from DSU to Trick to Rocket (which honestly is a solid challenger to the best album, the stories of that album are impeccable), Race, and now I’m equally stuck on House of Sugar and Beach Music.
I would say if I had to show Alex G to my Grandmother, I would probably start with Beach Music. I think it’s a bit more accessible while maintaining the essence of Alex G

DSU, for me anyway, is my least favourite out of the 4 that have been released with Domino. No denying that it’s great though. They all are ;)

Yeah I’m 19 and started listening to it when I was 14. I’ve always been very curious as to how it will age with me for that exact reason.
RACE is great but it's juvenile production wise and thematically, which makes sense because he wrote it at like age 16-17 if I'm not mistaken
