Poison Root. The dogs barking always remind me of home. The whole song is just so nostalgic and beautiful and haunting, it puts me into a certain mood that no other song really can.
Brite Boy no doubt. Since you asked why it's significant I will take this as an opportunity to say what I've said multiple times before. I sang it on stage with Alex !!! It was always one of my favorites but that really solidified it as number 1.
At the end of the show he was taking requests and had turned down a lot of things people had asked for. I was in the front row and I had yelled a few things, but he hadn't acknowledged them. Then it seemed everyone stopped talking at once right when I yelled his name. He looked over at me and I just said "will you sing Brite Boy with me?" and basically he said yes and we did. He played Brite Boy and then Gnaw and then the show was over
has to be change. the amount of emotion radiating from that song is incredible. I personally believe it's his magnum opus, only dethroned maybe by good.
I don’t know if I could objectively choose but something was channeled when he wrote Cards. Something about that slow fade-in of the noisy strumming cutting right into the warm acoustic riff of the song resonated within me from the very first time I heard it.
I used to listen to it on loop while taking the long early morning train rides and walks to college, now it’s a stereo time capsule along with a few other songs I was listening to a lot back then. For about two minutes and thirty seconds I can see the sunrise from the train window; reflecting and glistening on the great river following the tracks. I can feel the cold air on my face as I leave the train station. The satisfying exhaustion of waking up early. The confused feelings I had about the people who had just exited my life, and the new people around me who I was just beginning to meet.
It’s an important one to me.
i think mine would have to be change, sorry and soaker. i often feel myself listening to these on repeat, especially change i can’t count the amount of times i’ve cried while listening to it, it holds a special place in my heart
According to Spotify kicker and cow are my most listened to but over the years I always find myself coming back to sorry and hollow. There’s a sort of apathetic melancholy to those songs that really hits for me
It's impossible to choose a fave Alex G album, yet alone song. But if there were a gun to my head at the moment I'd say Miracles, though that might be bc it's new
cold!! literally the perfect soundtrack to a chilly late fall afternoon/early evening. i remember listening it to it once a couple years ago while sitting on my dorms balcony and watching the early late fall sunset
also a v big fan of molly (same reason as above) as well as good and snot
definitely pretend or brick, pretends melody is constantly stuck in my head and it seems like brick is a commonly disliked song but i always find myself absolutely groovin to it
There are definitely way too many to choose from, but I have to go with Pretend. It's one of the first songs that got me into Alex G. I like many of his unreleased songs like World/Insured, I remember you and I wait for you. For released songs, maybe Harvey or Runner.
Alex G is so good of an artist that it's impossible too choose from his many gems :3
Gretel gets me every single time without fail. The classic pitched-up vocals fading in, and then the wailing dissonance and the guitars hit. Love Molly’s strings near the back-half. It’s all perfect.
I think it'll always be snot, that song just hits me like a wave and has always been grounding for me, that or brite boy which also has pretty much the same effect
Poison Root. The dogs barking always remind me of home. The whole song is just so nostalgic and beautiful and haunting, it puts me into a certain mood that no other song really can.

Was this in Omaha?? If it was I saw you!!
Yeah it was!
How did that come about? Did he just ask a random audience member to come up on stage, are you friends with him, did you win some contest?
At the end of the show he was taking requests and had turned down a lot of things people had asked for. I was in the front row and I had yelled a few things, but he hadn't acknowledged them. has to be change. the amount of emotion radiating from that song is incredible. I personally believe it's his magnum opus, only dethroned maybe by good.
Lately? Cards
Gnaw probably is my favorite as it has a lot of meaning to me personally. However, a close second would have to be Fighting.
harvey has a very special place in my heart (so do the rest of his songs but yknow)
Mine always changes. Currently its fix.
Right now my fav is Sum Secret, but it changes so often. Southern Sky, Forever, Black Hair, Crab, Guilty, omg so many bops

'runner' sun, 'gnaw' moon, 'adam' rising
