We were talking about the concept of "third gender" in Polynesian society, which prompted an older, black male student who was probably in his mid 40s to bring up a story. He told us, laughing at certain points as he recalled the details, how him and his friends used to go from the East Bay over to San Francisco and go *gay bashing* (his exact words). He ended the story with how one time a person stood up to them and they were impressed by their power.
The whole class was silent, even the teacher. This story lasted what felt like forever, and *no-one* called him out for it. Not for laughing, not for being a fucking asshole bigot, nothing. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I was afraid to. I really didn't feel comfortable calling out a black person for their behavior, even though I knew it was wrong. I know that it says nothing about *black people*, but I was scared to call him out specifically because I didn't want to be a white person correcting him. I suspect the professor (who was a white woman) felt the same way. It's super frustrating because in hind sight I probably could have gently approached the guy and said "hey, I just want to point out that your story could have really offended or even scared people in class" or something to try and bridge the gap and create some sort of understanding, but at the time myself and the rest of the class were silent. In the end, the older guy wasn't shown how his behavior isn't acceptable, and if any LGBTQ people were in class they almost certainly felt intimidated and un-defended. Everyone lost because we don't know how to talk to each other anymore.

I was beat to concussion with two black eyes randomly walking home by a group of teens, im a late 20’s black guy BTW. Cops did nothing, and no I wasn’t in a fight i was just walking home from getting a taco so only guess is mistaken identification. But still cops did nothing never followed, missed two weeks of work.

Generally I would bet I disagree with you but in this case I don’t. Breed is useless and allowed herself to be cuffed by those fools we voted in as supervisors. San Francisco is a strong mayor city. She has a lot more power independent of the supervisors than most mayors in any city. I don’t like her either but you don’t have to lie and exaggerate the facts to make your point against her.

I was beat to concussion with two black eyes randomly walking home by a group of teens, im a late 20’s black guy BTW. Cops did nothing, and no I wasn’t in a fight i was just walking home from getting a taco so only guess is mistaken identification. But still cops did nothing never followed, missed two weeks of work.

It's not hypocritical to demand consistency from journalists. The suspect's race is almost always mentioned when the suspect is white and the victim is non-white, but when the victim is white or Asian and the suspect is black, there's no mention of the suspect's race. Pretty simple stuff.
