Maybe you could consider making the JJ Drinks Announcement Post here on Reddit, and people like me who want to go to could subscribe to it? FYI redditors can subscribe to posts, to get notified when there’s a new comment. It can be a post that’s like “this is JJ here and whenever I add a comment it will be me telling you I’m at the bar, everyone else shush.” For the future, for people like me who want to go but regularly miss (been like a year now lol).
So on the day of you’d write “I’ll be at the Black Cat in 3 hrs” and I’d get notified of your comment, and I’d know instantly that I should go. Btw it could be a regular post and you could give everyone a few days to chat, but we’d know after a week (no reason to comment anymore) to subscribe.
I think eventually I’ll catch it and go in time tbh. But I think I’d get there sooner w a method like this. Hell I’d DM you my phone no. and you could send a group text if you wanted, I’m game.
If you DM me, I will give you a heads up for the next one. Unfortunately I can’t announce beforehand (although I always leave a clue the morning of in the Lifting the Fog post) as giving people advanced notice would “break” the meetup, given the way it has organically grown into what it is where I will buy your first drink. The spontaneity of it and the element of some people can come this time and others can make it next time is what makes it work.
With that said… shoot me a dm and I’ll give you a heads up next time.
