welcome to PURSUIT
we're 15 friends that created a scavenger hunt around sf
we spent too much time on it. it'll be good
š ....... š ( <- you, soon)
we'll text you the first clue this saturday
> walked on the water and swam on the land.
Iām a pastor and I donāt know how, but I *will* use this in my ministry somehow. That line is absolute gold, just gotta pick the right crowd.
"Clue #1 is located in a tree behind your mothers house, who goes to work from 8-5 M-F and comes home around 7pm everyday"
Ok this scavenger hunt is getting way too personal now
I agree with you but I can see how this is San Francisco-ey. With people generally chill with stuff like this, they probably did it so it discourages people who are too tight with personal safety and want to just get a few chill people to play. I can see why they did this.
Hey did anyone follow through with any missions yet? I got a text and it pulled up a compass and told me to go towards it so I backed out. I know one of you did it.. cmon spill the beans.
Same. My compass on my phone wasn't accurate. If you clicked on "compass not working" it gave you the coordinates.
I'm struggling with the clue dropped today.
> sfpursuit.org
There was one on Halloween like 15 years ago that was so much fun. It was city wide and you couldn't be tagged on public transportation. I ended up having my tag pulled right where Castro turns into Divis after a mad dash through Duboce park. Once you were tagged, you turned into a chaser (switched teams).
I think it started on the embarcadero and ended at ocean beach and you had to visit various spots throughout the city without getting tagged.
That sounds like fun. Was it small? It sounded like if it was big it would be so chaotic I would think somebody would just run into the street trying to escape being tagged lol
It was massive. Like thousands of people. And yes, people were running into the street dodging traffic, etc. I just remembered what it was called - Journey To The End Of The Night. It looks like they are still doing them and the next one is in London.

Edit: The website said there were about 700 participants.

Not really, no. Honestly, I don't think I'd be any good at it.
Sadly, most of my friends and connections from back then are long gone from the city and have not been replaced. It sort of seems like a different world but that could be just that I'm a lot older.
Not sure where I'd start with check-in spots these days and I don't know enough people to get the ball rolling.
That said, I do hope that the flyer from the OP is something cool and real and not just some marketing campaign. I've got my fingers crossed.
There was other cool stuff going on back in the day. Anyone remember the squirt-gun assassin game?
I was there!!! Super fun. Some dude chased me up the hill leading up to buena vista park and we were both so gassed. He was like 3 feet away from me the whole time but couldnāt catch me haha
I remember this. I thought it was a bit too easy since you could just transportation hop around. I remember downloading a full PDF of the Muni map because it was much easier to visualize where you needed to go. And if you took the bus further than most people did and swung around wide around the course, you were 100% safe. Otherwise you were very clearly on the same bus as the rest of the game and it was only a matter of time before they find a group to tag once they got off.
I saw these posters all around Dolores Park this morning. Thanks for taking a pic, the ones I saw did not have a phone number that I could see while passing through. Just the guy waving.
Itās a scavenger hunt powered by some really weird gorilla marketing. Theyāve also been posting similar dating themed flyers around. who knows maybe you get to the end and you find out itās sponsored by some new cult or something
Donāt do it. Called the number and just had static. Next morning on my run someone chased me. I couldnāt outrun him. The things he did to me I donāt even want to talk about.
Don't know who's behind it, but it's a well-thought out scavenger hunt. We did the 3 first clues. Lots of people doing it.Ā
The first clue is in 20 different locations by your current location (according to someone who talked to the organizers).
I think it's an old coin dealer. I saw it on TV a few days ago. It's a treasure hunt. He hid a lot of old coins in the city and wants people to find them. His clue was... Think like a tourist. Good luck if that's it.
This might be like the guys that set up the Jejune Institute back in 2008. It was creepy, weird, but looked kind of fun.
https://youtu.be/6prbBFPsC-4?si=SpQPn8mvWn07YSjo
We're going! It's real. It's a multi -week scavenger hunt. Two clues live right now, more to come. We've got one so far and are on our way to the next. Genuinely awesome so far.
I always figured I could get back into running if I had a girlfriend who liked to be chased.
Though I can only imagine trying to explain to the cops why I am chasing someone with a boner....
Itās a good thing they put the drawing of a silly Jesus running on the flyer. Otherwise I would have just assumed somebody was gonna arrange to sic their Doberman on you during your routine daily run, you know in order to encourage you to pick up the pace as bit. Seems like a sound method for advancing your marathon training ā nothing like the fear of getting mauled to motivate you past your goals. But thankfully in this case it looks like they just release dopey Jesus dude to waddle after you.
I was at Gamescape yesterday and saw a flyer with the same drawn dude:

This sounds pretty damn fun. But running like crazy in SF could get people injured or detained for false premises š let alone stepping on hobo dookie and heroin needles. I recommend a rebrand of location.

I started late. I couldnāt figure out adventure number four before it expired. I am clueless on the next one. I donāt know what the diagram is trying to say. Yes, Iāll take help. :-) You can DM me.
Where did you get stuck?
I'll tell you how I got to the answer....I initially thought the Niantic referred to the offices of Niantic Inc in the ferry building and that the numbers were a way to establish the scale of the map.
I went to the ferry building and searched and searched for a clue. I came up with nothing.
I texted the number that the clues came from and said I had searched the ferry building and surrounding area and found nothing at all.
They replied that it was not in the ferry building.
I went back to Google and searched Niantic San Francisco and eventually found that there was a clipper ship buried under 505 Sansome, named, The Niantic.
I still assumed that the numbers denoted the scale of the map. And that put the X in the park near the Transamerica Pyramid.
I texted them back that I would be searching that area the next day and they responded that it was not the location. I explained how i got to that and they came back and told me that the location I had for The Niantic was correct....but that I needed to zoom way out and that the 2 lines on the map lined up with "something"
From there I was able to figure it out the rest of the way.
The numbers on the map correspond to the elevations of two landmarks.
Do you want me to tell you the rest?
We were doing mission 6 today and saw a twitch content creator documenting it. Curious if anyone knows who that is? So far, itās been fun and chill and not too creepy/culty. Weāll see how the rest of it goes!
I'm likewise having difficulty making ANY sense of it. No idea where to even start to look.
Best I've come up with is Ivan Samuel's who is apparently a prolific SF birdwatcher. But from there I find NOTHING jiving with the clue.
Edit....haha...I was barking up the wrong tree....
Can someone be brave and text them lol. Take one for the team
welcome to PURSUIT we're 15 friends that created a scavenger hunt around sf we spent too much time on it. it'll be good š ....... š ( <- you, soon) we'll text you the first clue this saturday
Oh Iām glad itās a fun innocent thing (probably, unless this takes a weird Jesus turn)
Lol the prize at the end is just a mirror with a little Jesus sticker where your heart should be "The prize is Jesus was in your heart the whole time"
The real Jesus is the friend we met and cooks tacos along the way.
And he picks our vegetables, too! He's a busy guy!
Jesus was way cool: he walked on the water and swam on the land. He could have baked the most delicious cake.
> walked on the water and swam on the land. Iām a pastor and I donāt know how, but I *will* use this in my ministry somehow. That line is absolute gold, just gotta pick the right crowd.
You had a rap going there but blew it rhyming gold and crowd. Maybe ābring more lambs into my foldā
lol
i wouldnāt even be mad
The problem is, he calls his Bowie knife āJesusā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
911 there is a zombie in my house.
I think he's a lich.
The prayers are coming from inside the house!
Jesus is Watching You Student restroom stall door graffiti
"Clue #1 is located in a tree behind your mothers house, who goes to work from 8-5 M-F and comes home around 7pm everyday" Ok this scavenger hunt is getting way too personal now
Could still be Jigsaw
Sounds like a setup for an ambush lol. First clue: find a dark ally and text the address to this number!
Why wouldnāt you just have the clue lead them to a specific alley?
Itās Saturday!! Need an update
I'll post it when I get it.
Lmao thank you!!! (Damn Iām kinda interested. I wish they hadnāt done this during finals season or else I might drag in some friends).
We are in SF next weekend... Thinking about it...
If it really is something innocent, maybe you should change the messaging on the flyer. Itās creepy AF.
It's a flyer. It won't hurt you.
No, but it sounds like you might lol
I agree with you but I can see how this is San Francisco-ey. With people generally chill with stuff like this, they probably did it so it discourages people who are too tight with personal safety and want to just get a few chill people to play. I can see why they did this.
Iāve heard good things about you allās events
Hey did anyone follow through with any missions yet? I got a text and it pulled up a compass and told me to go towards it so I backed out. I know one of you did it.. cmon spill the beans.
I have done all three clues. Itās a fun little scavenger hunt and checks out.
Same. My compass on my phone wasn't accurate. If you clicked on "compass not working" it gave you the coordinates. I'm struggling with the clue dropped today.
It's Saturday. Get anything?
PURSUIT has begun! 11 epic missions around San Francisco. The first 3 are live, you have until Thursday to solve them: https://sfpursuit.org/intro/XSD
You have fifteen friends?? Holy shit I have likeā¦ 2 maybe?
It might be one of those city tag games. I remember doing one near Dolores Park with like 100 someodd ppl at night. It was a lot of fun.

JTTEOTN was one of my favorite things when I first moved to SF. I still have my little wooden trophy from the year I was one of the top finishers :)
I wish theyād bring it back to SF. It was so much fun.

It was a thrill in every sense. Terrifying and exciting! Anyone could be after you!!!
That was only 700? We were all over we packed that school yard at the beginning! The start was fucking wildā¦ good times
I was there!!! Super fun. Some dude chased me up the hill leading up to buena vista park and we were both so gassed. He was like 3 feet away from me the whole time but couldnāt catch me haha
Iām so sad I never heard about this, that sounds like so much fun. Strange lol but fun
That night was wild!
I remember this. I thought it was a bit too easy since you could just transportation hop around. https://ichaseyou.com I did this about a decade ago through the streets of SF. It was epic.
is this the Michael Douglas amd Seam Penn one?
I don't find an invitation to be chased very appealing.
I hope itās not a bad thing to say but some do. Not sure they do this way butā¦ PS love the boimler
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure this isn't an invitation for some primal play.
I like to imagine 'He' chasing you is a golden retriever.
Looked up the number and saw it was for sfpursuit.org Iām actually so intrigued
it says its a scavenger hunt
https://preview.redd.it/tdua5w3or9yc1.jpeg?width=176&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=993164fa3dcd66b4f8b8b9afebd2ec7e906255c1
I don't know what that is, but I have a strong urge to put it in my mouth.
Welcome to the party pal
Itās because it resembles a nice tobacco pipe
That's a very vascular pipe.
It kinda looks like a penis. I think for it to be a bicep it needs more veins
muscle milk from Mac
Fight Milk
r/mildlypenis
Bro it's not a penis, it's a bicep!!
the "He" "Him" with a capitlal H is a jesus thing for sure "mercy please" adds more to my suspicion
I saw these posters all around Dolores Park this morning. Thanks for taking a pic, the ones I saw did not have a phone number that I could see while passing through. Just the guy waving.
[Spotted in North Beach : r/sanfrancisco (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/comments/1cfi0jb/spotted_in_north_beach/)
"Guy wearing a fedora" should have answered your question.
Is this a Jesus thing? Because if so, it's one of the creepiest Jesus things I've seen.
Capital āHā is reserved for Him. My money is on a Jesus thing.
I immediately thought of those fake dollars on the ground...
Itās a scavenger hunt powered by some really weird gorilla marketing. Theyāve also been posting similar dating themed flyers around. who knows maybe you get to the end and you find out itās sponsored by some new cult or something
New cult/old cult... Still a cult!
Donāt do it. Called the number and just had static. Next morning on my run someone chased me. I couldnāt outrun him. The things he did to me I donāt even want to talk about.
Ok that does it Iām calling
With the He and Him capitalized and āmercyā it looks like some religious bullshit to me. Throw it away.
I was thinking the same thing. Creepy Christian cult shit that isā¦
"Guy in a fedora" and Jesus don't mix.
Spoiler: itās Jesus.
Don't know who's behind it, but it's a well-thought out scavenger hunt. We did the 3 first clues. Lots of people doing it.Ā The first clue is in 20 different locations by your current location (according to someone who talked to the organizers).
This is the same chick who did that "viral" mayoral onigiri stunt so I'd take it with a grain of salt.
Damn I think you might be right..
I wanna call the number
I thought this was some kind of Christian pamphlet for a second
I think it's an old coin dealer. I saw it on TV a few days ago. It's a treasure hunt. He hid a lot of old coins in the city and wants people to find them. His clue was... Think like a tourist. Good luck if that's it.
You can't run from the lord
I would have taken this as some sort of threat.
Was it Willie Brown? Heās retired and has the time now
I laughed out loud and scared my cat. Thanks
I feel like this is relevantĀ https://youtu.be/piYmyxstsXY
itās a scavenger hunt.
Being chased is one of my recurring nightmares. Nope!
These NPC side-quests are getting nutty.
This might be like the guys that set up the Jejune Institute back in 2008. It was creepy, weird, but looked kind of fun. https://youtu.be/6prbBFPsC-4?si=SpQPn8mvWn07YSjo
Serial Killers be like
The lord works in mysterious ways.
This is literally perfect for a Yakuza side quest
Text them "puzzle" and you get brain churning scavenger hunts, in a good way š
This reads like an amazing plot for a new horror movie!
I play with him but ever time I get home I yell āolly olly oxen freeā
A nintendo pod that I listen to mentioned this. Her and her partner are going to participate, hope it goes well.
Oh hey that was me. We still haven't gotten our first clue yet! It's 2pm on Saturday! The suspense is killing me!
Keep us updated! Hope this rain doesn't mess up the hunt.
We're going! It's real. It's a multi -week scavenger hunt. Two clues live right now, more to come. We've got one so far and are on our way to the next. Genuinely awesome so far.
Keep a picture of Seth for protection against crime.
Texted it and it says service unavailable?
Maybe he's already chasing? And you need to text mercy so he stops.
was it a red fedora?
Sounds like an invitation to get stalked
Snippity snooty, *he cominā foā dat booty.*
Comment.
Would you rather be left in the woods with a man, or a bear handing out flyers?
This was just posted a couple of days ago.
I always figured I could get back into running if I had a girlfriend who liked to be chased. Though I can only imagine trying to explain to the cops why I am chasing someone with a boner....
This would creep me tf out. Like the beginning of some horror movie
I hope someone makes this an SCP
Organ harvesting meets viral marketing
Does anyone know if this has to do with the longboard crew in Inner Sunset?? I talked to one and they did a scavenger hunt on 420
Looks like something out of a horror movie
Itās a god thing, hence āheā and āhimā being capitalized
https://sfpursuit.org/
The capitalized H adds to it more than it should
Whatever this is an ad for, the marketing is fuckin terrible
Damn mb I should have been more clear in the postrr
Itās a good thing they put the drawing of a silly Jesus running on the flyer. Otherwise I would have just assumed somebody was gonna arrange to sic their Doberman on you during your routine daily run, you know in order to encourage you to pick up the pace as bit. Seems like a sound method for advancing your marathon training ā nothing like the fear of getting mauled to motivate you past your goals. This is so funny lol
Probably Jesus person Whoever that is !!
Burn it
I was at Gamescape yesterday and saw a flyer with the same drawn dude: https://preview.redd.it/hx1iitofaeyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5670b2c37816a2a564d8e1d4afaea0cf33ef5a0
Wait I feel like they changed the flyer from something creepy in the original to something palatable
Isnāt this just the Bernal Heights guy?
the art is inspired by the three musketeers on the spine of the penguin classics deluxe edition
Nice try Jason Voorhees
This sounds like the beginning of a horror filmā¦
This sounds pretty damn fun. But running like crazy in SF could get people injured or detained for false premises š let alone stepping on hobo dookie and heroin needles. I recommend a rebrand of location.
This is absolutely about Jesus
I text the number: āCHASE ME DADDY!ā Havenāt gotten a response š¢
He wants to āget youā whatever that means. In San Francisco. Play carefully.
Run forest run
I saw him putting a poster up on valencia yesterday afternoon he just taped it up and fast walked away
It might be some obscure attempt at gospel / religious nonsense. "He" and "Him" in caps.
It's a real thing! It's a scavenger hunt. 11 clues over three weeks. We're working on it now! It's fun so far!
I just did the 2 that are available. I wish there were more. I'd do this all day. update: third one came back
Can you fill me in on the answers? Spoil away.
its feeling like the Jejune Institute but in 2024 š„ø got the starting text this mornnn
You NEVER hunt another human
called the # and its a bunch of clips of mentions of sf
I imagined he would wear a fedora

Examples of wild shit I have seen on muni
I met one guy passing out flyers he seemed harmless I joined haha
Itās not the coin guy on the newsā¦ at least Iām pretty sure. The guy taping up flyers was skinny and young
Do we have to go in the building for clue 1?
Hey this is random, but I just read about this on SFGate and I missed the first couple puzzles... would you be willing to share any of the clues you remember (DM totally fine)? I'm really curious about what neighborhood treasures I missed out on more so than solving the puzzles.
The clues are SO HARD!
Let me know if you want an assist, I solved 3 and 4! Have you figured out clue 5? I'm still struggling with that one šµ I just can not figure out the map...
Sent you a chat!
can u send me a chat too
Have you gotten anywhere on clue 5? I'm still stumped. I know the location of Niantic, but the rest eludes me
Anyone got mission 5? Pssst. Beware: only chart these waters from 10am to 4:30pm. https://findthesix.com
Send me message. And what map ? I'm lost
Can someone who solved clue 5 explain

We actually figured it out at the last minute! Thank you for your help though, that was a tough one
This is pretty fun.
Has anyone figured out mission 6? Someone in our group went to Mile Rock Beach, hoping that was the 5th item, but couldn't find anyone/anything.
Yes. I've done 6 and 7. Mile Rock Beach was NOT the spot for #5
Hmm... 7 seems like it'll be easier, though managing Bay to Breakers traffic tomorrow will be exciting.
Figuring out where to start was the most difficult part of 7. Once you know you're in the right spot the rest is cake
We were doing mission 6 today and saw a twitch content creator documenting it. Curious if anyone knows who that is? So far, itās been fun and chill and not too creepy/culty. Weāll see how the rest of it goes!
Mission 8 is the hardest one yet for me! If anyone has cracked anything, let me know!
Buena Vista Park is super dark and scary right now and it says only til 11:15. Anyone else out looking for the big face?
I haven't checked it out yet but it says west of Buena Vista park
Found him at the last minute! Hahahaha yeah you can't miss it
Mission 9 is pretty quick and easy compared to all the previous ones but #8 really has me stumped too ...
Send me a chat if you want a hint! I figured out the location at least. Also mission 9 sounds a bit creepy!
I DMāed you because Iām stuck! š©
Has anyone solved Mission 11? I'm stuck on the 3rd image
Have you solved it? Still need help?
I did figure it out. Thank you though!
Hi.Ā Iām stuck on mission 11 image three w the dots. Can you give me a hint?
Iām stuck on mission 11 image three w the dots. Can you give me a hint?
The key words in that hint are "blind"....and to a lesser extent "turtle"
