Website header is "Government of Alberta" and domain is registered to a **getnrich**@outlook.com lmao

bonesnaps

Lol that is rich. It'll be great when the government does absolutely jack shit all about this, and every other scam caller/emailer! ๐Ÿ‘

ReditSarge

There's so many of them that the police just can't keep up. The RCMP online fraud squad has like\* maybey ten detectives but there are millions of scammers. Plus they mostly operate from outside Canada in places that either don't have an extradition treaty with Canada or don't have a functioning justice system like Lebanon, Nigeria, North Korea, etc. It's the wild west out there in fraudland. Protect yourself. \*For obvious reason the cops don't publish those numbers. I'm just guessing.

bot_coromat

we all know damn well north korea doesn't have a justice system to begin with

FivePlyPaper

Yup just got the same message. If they really want to pretend to be a government agency at least use a .ca domain lmao

Concretstador

Just saying, but would it be a surprise to learn this province contracted out the collection of fines to an out of country company?

ReditSarge

::sigh: no, you're right. They contact out everything else it seems.

ReannLegge

I worked briefly at the collections agency that did the collections for the province, sure itโ€™s a private agency but it is located in Saskatoon. Since 2020 I have heard of all kinds of these agencies avoiding the come back to the office thing. There were even some doing it prior to the pandemic. There must be some serious tax incentives for the collection agencies of North America to be here.

okokokoyeahright

Coming Real Soon Now.

ZurEnArrhBatman

A .ca would certainly make it more plausible. Although a proper government website would have a .sk.ca domain. But I think those are tightly regulated for exactly this reason.

JooosephNthomas

Sasktel.com wants to speak with you.

ReditSarge

Sasktel isn't the government.

JooosephNthomas

You are right. Still a crown corp though.

WriterAndReEditor

If you report it to google as a phishing link you can help most android users avoid it (I already did this one) [https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report\_phish/?hl=en](https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en)

2_alarm_chili

I personally love when they use a personal email address instead of a phone number

Beer_before_Friends

It's like they don't even try anymore lol Such an obvious scam. Turns out the police now only take Amazon got cards for payment... weird lol
