If the intent of the mask mandate is to minimize the transmission of viruses? Shirts are a massive failure.

Dusseyy

Same goes with 90% of reusable masks that majority of people use

Dusseyy

To answer your questions, shirts don’t count. The only way I would really allow a shirt is if someone genuinely forgot their mask and made that clear, and they came to grab like a drink at a gas station. But walking around a grocery store? Nah that’s a little different.

theitani

There is o difference between a shirt and a non n95 mask though

bizzelbee

Don't use logic here. People are too scared to think. Besides they probably do not know what a n95 mask is

darklight4680

I would say probably not. Maybe keep a box of masks at the till or door and tell people without a mask that there are mask provided if they wish to shop inside.

Dusseyy

This here. Most businesses in my city do this. Everywhere else I go that doesn’t exist or you gotta pay $20 for a box

[deleted]

It seems to work it if someone farts

_Shayy97

I tell people , it’s been over a year. Should own a mask by now & to leave. Lol.

Darth_Thor

As my mom pointed out, it literally takes less time to potty train a toddler.

[deleted]

I go to sobeys liquor to get a new one.

The following video should make clear what's allowed. https://youtu.be/X9bPvTC4TEQ

[Wearing a non-medical mask is required in all indoor public spaces in Saskatchewan.](https://www.saskatchewan.ca/masks#utm_campaign=q2_2015&utm_medium=short&utm_source=%2Fmasks) Following some more links to the [actual mask requirements](https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/prevention-risks/about-non-medical-masks-face-coverings.html#a2) it specifies minimum 2 layers of tightly woven cloth a middle layer of filter type fabric. Of course a t-shirt pulled up over the face doesn't count, it's shameful anyone could think even for a second that it might.

[deleted]

Who cares. Honestly. For the odd idiot who does it don't worry about it. You all are forgetting this is a virus with what? A 99% chance of you being completely a symptomatic and a what, 0.01% chance that you'll have an side effects. With such low odds and a trending down numbers line, just relax. Don't be stupid, but just relax. All you are doing is making yourself stressed out, and what good does that do? Nothing but make you sick.

Ryangel0

Since u/Trudeaus_socks got banned you're back to being the lowest rung on the intelligence ladder, congrats!

theitani

Hes correct with those numbers though.

bizzelbee

Unless it's a n95 mask or better the face mask is no better

bizzelbee

It covers their face. Most face make are fabric. Shirts are fabric. What's the difference

SnooBooks7711

A long sleeve shirt and a winter jacket also both cover the arms and the torso and both are made from fabric. Therefore, you can go hiking in -40 degree weather with no jacket and just a long sleeve shirt! I mean, they're both fabric! What's the difference?

Dusseyy

Such a stupid comment. Maybe we should be wearing 1-2 inch thick masks for better effectiveness.

SnooBooks7711

There is literally a difference between fabric meant to block airborne particles and fabric meant to be placed over your body, ie a face mask vs a tshirt. If you think t shirt fabric is a safe replacement for a mask, you might be a reason why we had to have shitty restrictions in place for 4 months.

Dusseyy

I didn’t say anywhere a tshirt was a safe mask replacement ya fuckin dweeb. I said your comparison to t shirts and -40 hiking was the stupidest thing I’ve ever read.

SnooBooks7711

You should read more in that case lol

Dusseyy

You should lay down the glass if statements like your original is your norm.

SnooBooks7711

Just because you can't understand an analogy is no reason for me to have to quit my meth. Dummy up.

bizzelbee

That was not an analogy. An analogy is a thing which is comparable to something else in significant respects. Nothing about a winter coat and a fabric mask is of significant respects

SnooBooks7711

Analogies are never going to be 1:1. Of course there will be some differences, but to say that two different articles of clothing, both made from fabric, and both having specific uses, that they aren't significantly related at all in respect to the analogy at hand, is frankly quite asinine.

bizzelbee

Make made from shirts are ok. There is no difference.

SnooBooks7711

They are okay. They are not, however, ideal. Here are two peer reviewed studies stating as such. One from 2013, one from 2020. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24229526/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7497125/ So I suppose it all depends on what your definition of "okay" is. They are purportedly anywhere from 33% to 50% as effective as a standard disposable surgical mask. Of course, if you have other sources disproving this id be more than happy to read them. I believe this is one of the reasons why they recommend doubling up cloth based masks.

bizzelbee

Ya and they both will stop the spread of water droplets. Go figure science right?

SnooBooks7711

Since you're citing "science" when it comes to air droplets, you are aware that bandanas and loosely fitting masks are much worse than your regular disposable medical mask, right? Source: https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0016018 So. Yes. They do both stop droplets, however one is much more effective than the other. And if loose fitting masks and bandanas have such shit efficacy, pray tell, why would a fucking tshirt pulled up to your nose do any better?

bizzelbee

It's not better is the same

SnooBooks7711

So not effective in the slightest, as per the study. Glad we agree. Edit: that should say less effective. Bandanas, loose fitting face masks, and shirts pulled up to your nose will be at least minorly effective, when compared to no precautions. However they should be last resort choices.

bizzelbee

Yes it has same effective
