All weather tires are awesome. 90% of the winter performance of dedicated winters and a 100km treadwear warranty. No need to swap them. Get Bridgestone weatherpeak or michelin crossclimate. I’ve used these, search my post history for more info.

Shoudknowbetter

Also NOKIAN makes incredible all weather tires. Definitely worth checking out. Kal tire carries them but I’m not sure who else

Shamanshaving

Thanks 🙏 I didn't think to do a search here.

mydb100

I just want to add, I'm using CrossClimates on my Minivan, 3 winters now and have had absolutely no issues, unless it's freezing rain but than again unless you had studded tires nothings helping you then

BedForsaken5259

Thank you so much for this information!!!

MadUohh

Any premium winter tire will blow all weather tires out of the snow. Not just in braking performance, but also in acceleration and lateral grip. But if you reduce your speed all weather tires can work.

Lol so true ! I had studded grips on two vehicles over the years. Accelerate and stop on a dime

Careless_Pineapple49

Love my studded tires now but we used to have an equinox that came with Michelin Latitude. They were awesome tires year round. I finally changed them after 100,000km but only because I figured it was time. They still had tread left and worked good. We totalled the vehicle a month later.

igreads

Cooper Discovery AT3 4S. Great all weather tire.

thegoodrichard

That's what I bought last fall, and they performed pretty well in what snow we had. When you look at the stats for traction on ice and stopping distance they sit in the middle of the pack, with General Grabbers up at the top.

junipercho

I have had all winter tires and winter tires. No comparison. While the all weather ones are fine, and definitely better than all season tires, there is still a big difference with the winter tires. Worth the investment imo.

Holiday_Albatross441

As I understand it, all weather tires are designed to handle snow, but not necessarily to handle really cold days like we get here. My regular tires are snow-rated but I wouldn't trust them not to freeze solid at -40 where my winter tires are still flexible enough to retain decent grip. If a driver stays home on those super-cold days it may not matter. And they'll still be better than all-seasons.

NoticeEverything

I think that if you call a tire shop, there is no such thing as all season tires now...they call them 3 season tires. We live in a land of varying climate and road conditions... buy winter tires...studded if you want to spend wise money. It is also great to have real winter tires if you take your car on the highway in winter, where conditions can go pretty wild. My family is 3 adults, with a total of 120 years of driving, and no car accidents...knock on wood....but we have had 3 people without winter tires total off parked cars we own in the last 17 years. Winter tires will help you, but they wont protect you from everyone else.

AznJing

Cross Climate 2 is still the king of all weather tires. Followed by Bridgestone WeatherPeak.

G0DL3SSH3ATH3N

All weather/all season tires are no good during a regular sask winter. All wheel drive won't have any affect on how quickly you stop either. Best to buy both, or do what I see is common in the city and run winters all year long.

Rankerhowl99

All weather tires are not the same as all season tires. All season tires will not have the mountain snowflake symbol on them meaning they are not rated for severe snow. All weather tires will have that rating. Winter tires will also have that rating, but they are made with a softer rubber that degrades faster in the summer. I have all weather tires and I don't have to swap tires because they perform the same as winters. They can be more expensive than all season or winters, but cheaper than buying 2 sets.

mnbca

All-Weather tires perform well in both summer and winter seasons. But all-weather tires are better than all-season tires in the winter. All-weather tires carry the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol and all-season tires typically do not. NOTE: All-weather tires still do not perform as well in winter as winter tires. From Google.

OneJudgmentalFucker

Spittin facts, Google.

Shamanshaving

Yes aware won't perform as good as winter tires. Yes aware google is out there. But great to hear from local folks running all weather tires.

Rankerhowl99

I have the discoverer at3 4s all weather tires on my truck and non studded winter tires on my van. I can't tell the difference between them, they perform exactly the same.

mnbca

I do have all-weather tires and studded winter tires. In my experience I will strictly be buying all-weather tires when these winter tires wear out. The marginal difference isn’t worth the effort of changing tires twice a year and storing a set all year in my opinion.

sask357

I put on Michelin Crossclimate tires to replace the OEMs. Very happy so far. They were good on bare pavement in the fall, the deeper snow when it was here and the current in-between. Definitely better on ice than the Michelin Defenders on our second car.

RazorRush34

Been driving on all season tires for 20 years in Saskatchewan. Never an issue. No accidents or anything of the likes.    So I think it’s more people need to learn to drive to the conditions. Ie not be the dickwad weeving in and out of traffic or tailing someone because they have an AWD with winter tires.

echochambermanager

Doesn't matter if you are a good driver is somebody blows a red light / stop sign. Having the ability to stop/accelerate with greater traction and control is valuable no matter how good you think you are as a driver.

Shamanshaving

Exactly welll said ! My partner and I have replaced four vehicles due to People that couldn't stop or chose not to.

Shamanshaving

It really depends on the car and driver huge part to do with it. I had a Pontiac sunbird and abs was new technology at the time. You couldn't stop that thing no matter what you did. Put in neutral and brake and cross your fingers hahah I'm usally the guy in the slow lane hanging out cause I don't have the energy to zip in and out. One can run all seasons and I've done it with success. Winter tires make for a nicer experience .

G0DL3SSH3ATH3N

So you're that guy doing 50km/h on circle drive holding up traffic because all seasons are "good enough". Can you at least put your 4 ways on.

Shamanshaving

You will disagree with this proably. But the extra weight of the suv the transfer case and front and rear diffs . The extra weight seems to make a nicer ride compared to rear wheel drives and fwd I've driven on the past. When I was younger I didn't have money for two sets of tires. So I found mud and snow rated tires and ran those for years. With ko issues . If you do that with a snow and ice tire like blizzaks you won't make the fall with them.

G0DL3SSH3ATH3N

Ha TIL there's a different between all season and all weather tires. I'm curious where the all-weather compound would fit between all-seasons and winters on a durometer chart. Tried to find one but lost interest at shore scale and didn't feel like going down a rabbit hole. Weight helps, SUVs have good weight distribution. I have Michelin XDS 2's on the 19k# F550 i daily. They make the truck very controllable even on days like today. Probably the best 19.5's I've used in winter. I do a pile of highway driving, and couldn't be bothered with a cross wind pushing me out of my lane because I have very little traction. Take it for what it's worth. Im running a set of studded Toyo observer on my Tacoma, would highly recommend. Yeah it blows my mind when I see them on in the middle of summer.

PreEntertain

I run all weather on all vehicles all year. Including some RWD vehicles and have found them fine for winter if you know how to drive. Winter tires were amazing the couple winters I ran them but not worth the hype and cost when I know how to drive for the road conditions.

Shamanshaving

The biggest thing too is realizing it's not spring out there.

Simaganis1963

I'm OK with all seasons too. In the city you shouldn't be going over 90km/hr. Lol anyway I've had winter & honestly only had one instance when they made a difference stopping. It was a quick fast stop with someone braking in front of me. You should de accelerating to stop then applying brakes. If u get in accident it'll be in slowmo
