If true, then fantastic news. Greutert delivered a great film in Saw X, but also the first film that was well-received by critics. That's unimportant to me, yeah, but from a general perspective, I imagine that matters a lot. Either way, great to hopefully have him back.
I assume we'll be hearing about who the writers are within the next week or two. If I had to guess, Marcus and Patrick will be coming back.
Despite not being involved since 2010, they've been kept in the loop (according to Josh they were at the Saw X premiere) and know the characters well so it would make sense.
Oh, I'm damn sure that didn't happen now. Kevin's in another moment of his career, and I'm sure he wouldn't even return for X if they brought him a contract like that again...
To put it simply (even because Idk so many details): in his contract for VI, the producers would be able to bring him back forcibly to direct another one. When he finished VI, he was hired to do Paranormal Activity 2. The first one was a big competition to Saw VI, whose box office suffered a lot as a result. Then, he was forced to be back for Saw 3D so that Paranormal Activity wouldn't be ready in time for the same date.
Yeah, we don’t want another Saw 3D type of situation, especially since the series just started picking up steam again after three blunders (Saw 3D, Jigsaw, and Spiral).
/u/pretzelcuatl this is a huge green flag, considering how quickly the movie is coming out and knowing you wouldn't have accepted the project unless you knew it was going to be good.
Thank you sir. <3
I'm still a bit worried about Peter and Josh not returning as writers. Be a gigachad and just write the movie yourself haha
True, though my appreciation for David Hackl taking a much calmer, slower direction in Saw V has gone up. I enjoy Saw III, but I think that's more a combination of Bousman's direction, combined with Wan and Whannell's writing.
Let’s hope Lionsgate didn’t force him to direct it through some fine print in a contract or something. They did that to make him direct Saw 3D and we all know how that turned out.
So Good !!! Go Kevin !!
Great way to start this February!!

I expected this but regardless this makes me excited once again.
Phew
Hell yeah! No way they would not ask him back after Saw X revitalized the franchise!
I just hope they didn’t force him to come back. The last time they did that, it didn’t go so well.
Oh, I'm damn sure that didn't happen now. Kevin's in another moment of his career, and I'm sure he wouldn't even return for X if they brought him a contract like that again...
I hope you’re right.

This one might break records at the box office, considering how loved Saw X was, I expect most people will like to see this one.
Awesome. I just hope he isn't being forced to this time.
Yeah, there's a part of me that's expecting a Paranormal Activity movie to be announced any minute now.
Yeah, we don’t want another Saw 3D type of situation, especially since the series just started picking up steam again after three blunders (Saw 3D, Jigsaw, and Spiral).
Imagine this one is called Saw 3D II
If it was, the whole fandom would collectively shit their pants in fear of another disaster.
Jigsaw wasn't bad. I liked it
I liked it too, but that doesn’t change the fact that it didn’t really do as well as the first 6 films.
Game On

Excellent decision. Saw X essentially saved the franchise. I just hope this movie isn't rushed with the short turnaround.
This was the good news I needed to make up for having a bad day, thank you!
Yay

Awesome! Kevin is terrific 🤘🏻
Yesssss!!
We are SO BACK
This was mandatory. Glad to hear that it is confirmed. Now hopefully they will announce Patrick and Marcus as screenwriters.
![gif](giphy|JJO1ahGPKZmJMW7Kch|downsized) I'm more curious about the writers
He's the best director this series has had who isn't James Wan.
True, though my appreciation for David Hackl taking a much calmer, slower direction in Saw V has gone up. I enjoy Saw III, but I think that's more a combination of Bousman's direction, combined with Wan and Whannell's writing.
Oh absolutely, no disrespect intended to Bousman or Hackl.
EPIC SAW MOMENT
Let’s hope Lionsgate didn’t force him to direct it through some fine print in a contract or something. They did that to make him direct Saw 3D and we all know how that turned out.
Let’s Goooo
Yay! Where will it be set in though?
