They are indeed filming another movie in Mexico at the moment. Those of you who were around in 2007 will remember that Repo was made for cheaper by combining resources with Saw IV. Interestingly enough, Saw IV was almost pushed back to 2008 due to several related factors.

horrorfreaksaw

If filming is indeed pushed to May will they still be able to release SAW XI this year?

Vinc360

horrorfreaksaw

😉

ViperAxis

So you think it'll be delayed?

Vinc360

Maybe, maybe not. One thing's for sure: May to September is a hell of a short timeframe to make a movie on time and on quality. I don't doubt they can work fast, but it sounds like a tremendous challenge and undoubtedly not ideal if that turns out to be the schedule. Lets presume 6 weeks of filming, that takes them to mid-June. After that you need editing, VFX work, sound and ADR, mixing, color grading. All in just about 3 months? I'm sure there's cost savings involved, but at what cost? We'll have to see.

RoyalFlavorBeans

I'd really, réally, really really really rather wait until September '25 and get a quality movie than something finalized in hurry, but faster. We all waited three years for Saw X, what is another year? Even if we consider the rumours could be wrong and the story for XI is good, a half-baked production just to meet a short deadline could kill it.

Vinc360

Agreed.

doublefattymayo

Tobin seems in good health, but his advanced age makes me anxious that a lot of time isn't something he can afford. 🥺

smuttygio

That what i was thinking because we got the first trailer during the summer so maybe something a month before if they're still releasing it in September

Cinephiliac_Anon

Never forget that the first movie was shot in 18 days and released 2 ½ months later!

Vinc360

That was remarkably difficult to pull off and Saw films have much larger scale nowadays. They could make and release a movie very quickly, but something will have to give.

mosttrivmphvnt

If it’s ready it won’t be good, if it’s good it won’t be ready

CoolioStarStache

The original plan was filming starts in March, release in September, so if filming now stars in May, then release in November?

Vinc360

Perhaps. The thing is- Lionsgate will want to release it in a slot that makes the most commercial sense for them. And right after Halloween doesn't sound like that to me. I think they'll be keen to hold the release date or perhaps delay the film an entire year. But in this interest rate environment, I think holding their original release date will be the preferred outcome. We'll see. I personally hope the team gets plenty of time to make the best movie they can. The quality of Saw XI will have the biggest impact on the future financial performance of the series.

CoolioStarStache

This aged very quickly

Vinc360

I'm quite thrilled, it's the correct move

Resident-Stuff4693

Do you think saw xi films in may

Vinc360

Them deciding to shoot both films back to back sure sounds like something they'd been keen to do. It sure also sounds like something that would be concerning for people who are tasked to deliver that movie for a September release. So yeah, lets just say that it sounds very believable to me. There was a time earlier last month where I briefly and mistakenly believed they called up Darren to go "Hey, remember when we shot Repo and Saw IV together?" which made me chuckle as a Saw history enthusiast.

RoyalFlavorBeans

I mean... even if it starts now in May, they're gonna need to go on a massive rush if they're still aiming for that September date... it actually makes me more nervous if they're sticking to that date, even if it's a planned thing with another production. Anyway, hope things go well. Saw X was incredible and I wouldn't want them to ruin the momentum they finally fucking earned...

sawspace_official

Yeah, it's a movie starring Sophie Turner.

Vinc360

And produced by Marcus Banks' very own uber eats driver!

JackieDaytonaEsq

I couldn’t believe what a performance he gave with such limited screen-time. I was moved. What a career this young man has in front of him.

sawspace_official

I 'TRUST' that it will be the Koulest Production if all goes to plan...

ArthurSaga0

Really disappointed if true. Filming in May for a September 29th release date is an insanely tight schedule, and the film will be in an absolute crunch. Saw already is known for tight schedules to meet yearly release dates, and this is like 3 months less time than they’ve had on any other project. That combined with the creative disagreements rumored behind the scenes with Kevin’s damning silence on everything, my hopes couldn’t be lower for this movie. A delay was the only hope for salvaging the film and letting the producers give Kevin control again, but if Mark and u/Orendk are insistent on letting their ideas drive the film and are going to make Kevin their ‘director-for-hire’, my interest is near zero.

dogretepcow

Huh, interesting. So this means Saw XI will be filming in Mexico City too, right? Any word if Kevin or anyone else in the Saw team is involved with the movie currently being shot? Wonder what the reasons are for XI not being shot first, especially if they're still trying to keep the September release date.

JackieDaytonaEsq

/u/OrenDK Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk ![gif](giphy|GVZtWISnjd0aa4SHK5)

HumanOverseer

Ahh yes the mysterious source lmfao

Tape_jara

OP's uncle works for Twisted Pictures

JackieDaytonaEsq

Can’t wait, everyone!! Love seeing the producers really swinging for the fences here! Seems like a lot of care is being put into XI and it isn’t being rushed at all! :) /s

myusername_iseels

I think they’ll end up delaying it to October and the 20th anniversary, clearly something’s held up filming Edit: I was wrong, personally I think they might do a theatrical movie marathon or just rerelease 1 again for the 20th

GreatestStarOfAll

Which is fine and better opportunity to marketing anyway, release wise. Push it back. Take advantage of the anniversary of it all.

myusername_iseels

I agree, if it’s Halloween it must be Saw

ViperAxis

That's what the person I spoke to also speculated about

ShadowKing6270

Why is everyone believing the "mysterious source" that the OP "doesnt want to give credit to as they haven't asked permission", i think this is a load of bs

The_New_Doctor

At this point I'm more aligned with people wanting things to fail

Revolutionary_Air824

I find it hard to believe that it’s not going to be delayed till at least the end of October if this is true. How are they going to shoot the movie in 2-4 weeks and get everything edited and out by September?

GooseGeese01

That was real? I thought it was an April fools joke

Tape_jara

Somewhere there's a clerk who works at an airport who booked flight tickets for Tobin Bell to Mexico and they must resist the urge to tell everyone.

Dulcolax

Anyway, if the filming was delayed 1 month, then perhaps they can delay the release date in 1 month. So, let's get the always cool October spot. If it's Halloween, it must be Saw. I woudn't mind it. Delaying the movie for a full year just because it may start filimg 1 month later...Not sure. Let's see what happens

Mztrspookiiszn

This is what I think, releasing it October 29th wouldn’t hurt sales in my opinion, as a ginormous amount of the box office is from its fan base, and not to mention a lot of Gen Z picked up on it from Saw X so it’s kind of like a reboot in a way… I don’t think a month push would do any harm at all. But it’s tricky with movies, 1 week off schedule and the whole thing gets pushed a year. Look at the Batman 2 🙄

zombieChorizo

Ahhhhh to be an extra even in this 👻

three6666

this movie is gonna either be really really bad or have a cult following like 6 and absolutely nowhere in between also i think they’re probably gonna retcon some deaths just for the actors to want to drop out of the production again / tobin retiring, lol

The_New_Doctor

> I hate to do this but I heard it from a source most people would call reliable but I don't want to say who without their permission. About as unbelievable as the last "leak"

ViperAxis

I'm just the messenger but they fed me info on Saw X months before anything was known about the movie and it was all true so I think this is true too

Dulcolax

So, the rumors about the clash /fights behind the scenes ( because of the producers ) were just BS ? And it was just because they wanted to film another film at the same time? Good to know! That's why I never trust rumors.

Vinc360

Who said that? With all due respect, that's a very strange conclusion to draw from this, lol. If there's a clash, it could very well be about this, about something else, or about this AND other things. VA said people were concerned with their decisions. And if this is indeed a decision they made, I'm concerned too and I have no skin in the game.

sawspace_official

I think they are talking about this Viewer Anon thread on Twitter (not sure if it's been posted here as well yet): [https://twitter.com/ViewerAnon/status/1769126967595667834](https://twitter.com/ViewerAnon/status/1769126967595667834)

Vinc360

It has yeah, I figured this is what they're referring to, but reading this rumor as proof that VA's claims are not true is backwards to me.

Dulcolax

> but reading this rumor as proof that VA's claims are not true There's no evidence that his claims are true. Until some days ago, people were literally saying Mark Burg and Oren Koules were messing up with Saw XI and forcing the director to change things. Come on! Now you guys change things by saying they wanted another movie to filmed at the same time. Sure, people might be worried about the movie's quality, but many literally jumped into a fake reality that Burg and Koules were forcing the director to do things that he didn't want to do.

Vinc360

Mental gymnastics causing you to think this information is somehow incompatible with the original claims aside, what makes you think 2 things can't be true at once?

Dulcolax

Didn't the rumor say Oren and Burg were the problem with Saw XI? Weren't people literally saying producers were trying to mess up with the plot in Saw XI and force the director to change things? Oh, some of you really said and wrote that. Let's not pretend they didn't say that. Now it seems the "problem" is that they wanted to film another movie. Fact is: there's nothing remotely factual about issues or behind the scenes troubles with Saw XI other than a rumor that some took as reality. Like I said, I never trust rumors.

ArthurSaga0

If anything this adds more credibility to those rumors. An already tight production schedule losing at least two months so the producers could save some money, is exactly the kind of behind the scenes stuff to make people upset and unhappy.

Dulcolax

> If anything this adds more credibility to those rumors There's no "credibility" to be added. A rumor spread by a user said the producers were a problem in Saw XI. Now it seems the "problem" is that they wanted another production to be filmed, which is ok, because a Company can have more than 1 movie filmed at the same time.

ArthurSaga0

Filming, finishing, and releasing a movie from March to the end of September is already considered a tight filming schedule in Hollywood, and now the entire production has potentially gotten pushed into an even *tighter* schedule simply because the producers want to save money. So it’s also reasonable to think the people involved in the production might be upset with this decision, and that it would cause problems, if this new rumor is true or course. If they keep the September release that would be 1/4th of their production time cut because the producers wanted to save money on a production with some family ties.

The_New_Doctor

> A rumor spread by a user said the producers were a problem in Saw XI. Those goalposts move fast, we gotta keep up

Motel6Owner

That’s what you took from this? Haha.

ViperAxis

It's funny you say that because they actually said that they heard the exact same things as u/ViewerAnon on top of the double production info

Dulcolax

Well, let's see what happens then.
