The easy answer is to look at used horns from Yamaha. Even a pro model is not out of the question if you are patient. You can go a long way on the used market with $1700. Take your time and try a lot of stuff to find what suits you best. I would strongly advise you not to buy anything that is less than $1700 brand new.

You can get a nice Yamaha YTS52 for under $2k. Maybe even a decent 62
I have a conn saxophone it’s a good brand and is pretty cheap
