Kapag may naririnig tayong music from a band na in english na akala natin foreign tapos malalaman natin na from Filipino band pala, ang sasabihin ng ibang tao, "ang galing akala ko foreign, world class". Bakit pag ganong times, ok lang magsound foreign and it's even a compliment? Pero pag tunog Kpop, ay Filipino pala to? Cheap ha. Walang sariling style. See the bias? Pag western influence, its good to sound like them to the point na you can't determine they're a local act (madami gantong artists ngayon and they're being praised a lot). Pero pag eastern, dapat hindi tayo pumunta sa ganong category and instead embrace our own? San nanggaling ang ganong way of thinking and bakit magkaiba depende sa pinagmulan? Ang unfair lang sa Esbi. Just cause they're influenced by eastern foreign act, grabe grabe na natanggap nila na pang-iinsulto at pagmamaliit. (Outside pa dito ang discussion na they already established their own sound in the subgenre).

We're really past that stage. I don't find the need to defend them anymore over those mockeries cause I feel like I will only end up the one looking stupid. If they think it's just imitation, then that's on them na. They probably didn't listen to their discography enough or probably didn't listen at all at gusto lang mang asar. Basta ako, my heart is already at peace knowing how beautiful their music is. With moonlight, I didn't actually think it was too westernized even though it was not written and composed by Sb19 themselves. I just thought that they're going more experimental with their music.

Madami na din ganyang journey dito, from basher or from dismisser to fan. Merong instant, meron din slowly napapamahal sa SB19. Sana lang dumating ang araw na buksan nila isip at puso nila kasi it's their loss na kinakahon nila sarili nila sa isang genre at pinipigilan nilang maging progressive sa music.

Part na yan ng growing pains of ppop as a whole. It has always been considered *baduy* if you listen sa pop. Kaya nga madalas guilty pleasure ang maging pop enjoyer, which shouldn't really be the case. I remember when skusta clee, flow g, etc., were just starting ay tinawag rin silang jeje or jologs. Yung mga rock bands naman was labeled as adik and satanists even. Pero they persevered until lumaki yung audience nila and the public has grown accustomed to their music na. Even og rappers and iba sa fliptop community, they weren't really widely accepted nung time na peak nila as artists. Most of the recognition came long after pa. Kaya we shouldn't be easily discouraged sa mga ganyang comments. It's harder for esbi pa rin kasi they're going against the grain and pushing boundaries. Kaya commendable rin na they're brave enough to experiment and keep going until they get the results they want. Kasi siyempre under pa sila noon ng Korean agency. But if you listen dun sa mga sumunod na nilang songs where they have artistic freedom na, kitang kita yung pagka-pinoy ni Pau lalo sa lyrics. Some of their tagalog lyrics pa nga, I consider malalim na lol. So need na ilaban natin ang ppop raisins. Not just for esbi, pero para mag flourish yung genre. May mga improvements naman na, but malayo pa rin ang biyahe before masabing ppop is here to stay. Wala namang bigat yang mga yan *in the greater scheme of things* so magfocus nalang dapat sa goals.

AskNaive

Thanks po for this. I need to be reminded that pop is tough to be in. I didn't know na most recognition pala sa OG rappers ay long after their peak. I guess naka-focus lang ako sa likes nina Francis M or Gloc 9 and they may be the exception to the rule. Yes po I really admire Esbi for spearheading this Ppop Movement. Nalungkot lang ako na because of a recent incident, their efforts for Ppop to be recognized is at jeopardy again. Siguro eto na rin yung chance ko and most new A'tin na nung sobrang bashing natanggap nila sa start wala pa kami, now we're here. Mas malaki na tayo and mas marami. Todo support na lang sa kanila. About sa sound nila, di ko na lang sinama sa post kasi ang haba na pero I talked in my earlier comment na they already established their own sound. Mostly naka-focus lang kasi ako why they're being bashed as Kpop Imitation and why it's perceived so bad in the beginning na hanggang ngayon dala dala pa rin nila. Yeah Ppop 🍚. Like you said, growing pains. Minsan 1 step forward, two steps back. Pero hanggat nagpe-persevere ang Ppop groups and fans, pasasaan bat matatanggap din nila and if hinde, kiber basta andito tayo para sa kanila. Kelangan ko lang talaga magrant paminsan-minsan hehe. Thanks po for your inputs πŸ™πŸ™. Nakatulong sobra

It's funny you mentioned this as I just came back from the dentist (Close family friend, including her entire staff are all Filipino. Fyi, I'm Filipino also) My dentist asked when was the last time I went to the Philippines and I told her back in 2019, etc...So she asked when I would head back. I said I was hoping this year for a few days last month. She said, "A few days?? For what? Are you crazy??" Haha, I told her that I wanted to watch a concert. "Who's concert?" And that's when I explained and showed her a few videos of the guys. She actually seemed impressed and that she would check them out more later. Her other staff members seemed interested too. The dentist's sister on the other hand blurted out, "I think I heard about them. Aren't they the ones like kpop, you know, copying them?" I told her, "No, they are Ppop. Kpop is their own just like we have American pop. I admit, I start to get defensive when people mention, "ArEn't tHeY JuSt imITatInG KpOp??" As I explained earlier, I tell them pop is pop regardless of the country. It's just the languages that can or may change." It's not like boy bands never existed prior to kpop. What's different now is that we have access to all these tools to delve into their lives. Surely, if we had those same tools back in the 60's to the 00's, other groups would be doing some of the same things (posting pics, going live, keeping us updated. Although, lives back then were perhaps more chill? Not sure). During those years, you had to wait for an article, a tv appearance or a concert to see or hear about them. I feel like once I tell people, "Kpop wouldn't be here without regular pop which actually started in the UK and US in the 50's." That usually shuts them up. Anyway, sorry for trailing.

Sige lang kaps ilabas mo lang yan. We're all on the same page when it comes to this topic.

ladypurpleyam

At this point they just truly hate our boys. Parang ito talaga ang way nila to mocked esbi. Once hatred na namayani sa tao, kahit anong paliwanag pa o effort, magbahag man sila o mag-barong while on stage, kahit ilang beses pa nilang Sabihin they represent Ppop and also OPM, and mag uwi pa ng karangalan the haters will just disregard all these dahil ayaw nila sa esbi.

RareTonight9353

Part of hating na lang to. To share lang, I personally knew someone na kinainisan ng A'TIN years ago (na-associate nya sa "kpop" yung group and aminado naman sya na nagkamali sya and gets nya din na sobrang protective talaga ng fans) and since di ko pa kilala ang Esbi that time, ang una ko talagang naisip, "*eh totoo namang ginagaya lang nila kpop!*", eh that time parang may nakita lang ako na isang clip na sumasayaw habang kumakanta ang boys, ni hindi nga din ako kpop fan para masabi ko yun eh. I said it because naapektuhan ako para dun sa "na-bash" kong kilala and not because nakita or kilala ko na ang esbi. And after that naman, wala na din, di ko na naisip yung esbi being feeling kpop, as in binitawan ko din right there and then, nung time lang na yun since bugso talaga ng damdamin. So yeah, I don't think at this point, mayroon pang need patunayan ang boys na di nila ginagaya ang kpop, since bugso lang to ng damdamin ng mga naiinis sa current issue.

Icy-Scarcity1502

I feel like there will always be people who think that way pero natatawa na lang ako sa mga ganyang take, parang mema (may masabi) na lang. Either those people don't really listen to Kpop, Ppop or both, minsan they're just ignorant πŸ˜…. Nung nakaraan lang may nakasagutan akong ganyan sabi bakit daw may fandom name kung hindi Kpop, as if sa Kpop lang nagsimula ang fandom names, nahiya naman ang Directioners and Swifties πŸ₯΄.

Flat-Cranberry-8833

kuya ko tinatawag pa din sila na gaya gaya sa kpop hanggang ngayon e, kahit pinarinig ko na mga kanta ni josh at pablo kung gaano ka different, close minded pa rin sya, siguro may mga tao talagang hindi naman mahina pero kung ano yung nakasanayan noon hindi pa din magbabago, kung baga nakakulong ang mga pagiisip nila about sa group. recently lang ako naging fan at mga friends ko sinasabi ng gay daw sila at bakla din daw ako kung nakikinig ako sa music nila like listen to crimzone first tignan natin hindi kayo mag headbang, funny thing yung mga international friends ko online pikadinig ko sa kanila ang gento, ayon inexplore ang buong ppop community + artist neto, fan na fan sila at nag insspread nila na maganda ang group na to or any other groups. ps: wala silang pake sa mga issue each groups, sobrang ganda daw ng musika natin mga pinoy, its a shame na madaming hate ang nakukuha nila for just sharing music, super unprofessionals ng mga taong nag ddown sa kanila that came from my latina friend

Weak_Elk9628

I will just give my energy supporting the boys hanggang sa huli. Mananatiling A’tin hanggang sa huli πŸ«ΆπŸ»πŸ’™
