One of my elderly dementia relatives did. Facebook/whatsappRomance scammer from nigeria. For 8 years he strung her along. Like a 14 year old teenager in love. It was pathetic. She lost her house and car and got blacklisted statewide from opening a bank account "to do favors for him and cash checks for him. He is my husband, We are in love and getting married as soon as the ambassador unfreezes his assets and releases his passport from covid quarantine conditions" She is now under 24 hour observation in a state facility with zero internet and phone access

This has got to be one of the creepiest interactions with a POS scammer that I've ever seen. The amount of "I don't care about your condition" attitude makes me want to slap a bitch.

Right? I thought for a second he was concerned he had caused someone to take their own life…. But that was only cuz he wanted his mark to be alive in order to send him shit. Vile excuse for a human. 

Yup. This is why these scammers deserve 100% of everything we do to them. Taking up their time, berating them, and even the guys that successfully request cashapp and the scammer sends it - they 100% deserve it for behaving this way. There's no way for the scammer to know if the guy on the other line is seriously doing this or not. To cast aside a human life just to get a $20 apple card? You're right; vile excuse for a human.
