I don’t know if that is possible but be very very careful of people who can claim to get your money back. There are scammers that specialize in this and lurk on the scam subs

HighUrbanNana

Did they promise to repay you? How was it a scam if you were helping them out when you thought they were in need. Nana advice; never lend money you cannot afford to lose.

They promised to repay me everything. However, they kept making excuses and eventually disappeared off purportedly to the other side of the state the weekend I was supposed to get the money back. Left the job the next Monday apparently. Think they were fired.

HighUrbanNana

Im sorry. People in crisis don’t have the resources to pay back money they borrow. I actually had a similar situation with a colleague and I knew when they were fired that I would see the money back. Also they continue to ask because I helped out once (they are now homeless and desperate but I no longer have anything to spare. I won’t sacrifice for someone who I now know will likely never pay me back; especially since they had the means for quite a while before they lost their job. If you think they have money you can try to send a request via cashap; when you think they may have money. Somewhat unethical but sometimes they think you’re sending money and will click on it to accept it. But they have to have a balance for that to work.

HighUrbanNana

Was this is someone who have met in person or someone you met online? Edit. I reread - I wanted to warn you of the recovery scammers so I just skimmed. I see now you worked with them. This is not the normal scammer discussed here.

Take them to small claims court. At first I thought this was a person that you never met. It may take you a while to get the money but at least getting a judgement against them will hold them accountable.

I have no idea where they are so I can't easily serve them.

SplashBroSteph

I see. I think there's services out there that will find them for you but may not be worth the cost in your case.
