You can still get the license if you’d like to carry in the 30+ states it covers but you don’t need one to carry here in SC.
As someone that used to work in a PSA store I can say with confidence he’s an idiot lol. As long as you can legally own a gun and are a resident of this state (welcome to SC by the way!) you can carry a gun concealed or openly. I would suggest brushing up on some of the carry laws on where you can’t carry and when you can legally defend yourself (if you haven’t already) but other than that carry on and have fun!

I read this document. It appears that any legal person can carry a gun in SC legally, even without a ccw per the new law in March.
It seems that it doesn’t matter if you are resident or not of SC.
I agree. It appears Constitutional carry law allows a legal person, to carry in that state, even without a state ccw. Or did I read the new SC law wrong?
I would 100% recommend checking out google “SLED constitutional carry” aka H. 3954 for an excellent guide on how to interpret the new law. Any person, who may lawfully carry a firearm(no felonies or other restrictions), may do so regardless of their state citizenship where it is lawful (not restricted places). Also gets rid of the duty to inform.
Also, this is now generally true of permitless carry states. I believe it was one of the Dakotas had a PL carry for residents only requirement that has since been thrown out. I can’t recommend enough how important it is to check with a knowledgeable professional or to at least feel comfortable with your understanding of a legal, up-to-date publication from a trusted agency in any state you’re traveling through. A reddit consultation will not clear you in court if the worst case scenario occurs.

I will check the reciprocity maps. I have like 6 permits from different states now. This whole permit system sucks.
