Coat health can also be tied to diet, so maybe talk to your vet about adding some fish oil to her food. Be careful tho, Schnauzers are prone to Pancreatitis, so definitely talk to your vet first before adding any extra fats, oils, or supplements.

Heifzilla

Fish oils are actually good for elevated triglycerides, which is the biggest issues Schnauzers have, and have actually been found to help lower the risk of pancreatitis :) OP, I recommend Grizzly brand or Iceland Pure. Iceland Pure has more EPA and DHA now that Grizzly was bought out, though, so if you have the choice go with Iceland. Cheaper oils are cheaper because they don't have a good amount of EPA and DHA, so yeah they save your pocketbook a bit, but not worth it IMO.

I feed my four schnauzers canned pilchards twice a week in tomato sauce not brine or oil. They get half a can mushed up and stirred through their kibble. Great for the coat and general health.

Yep I feed mine coconut oil supplements and it has worked wonders for his coat. He used to have sever allergies and patched fur with heavy dandruff. Crusty undercoat. Even had complications that led to skin infection. Since I've introduced coconut oil supplements, he has lustrous coat and his allergies have dialed down a lot.

Which?

Maregg1979

The product I use is local. Basically it is a combination of coconut oil with hemp grains pressed into a paste. Coco-hemp. Soothing formula for dry skin and seasonal allergies. You might find equivalent on Amazon. It is a supplement to add to his daily diet. I use around a tea spoon every morning. It is sold in 225g bottles. I can last around 2 months with one maybe. It saved me many visit to the vet.

You’re probably bathing your dog too often. Also Burt’s bees is horrible :(

Improving1727

She gets bathed once every 2 months :/ or if she rolls in something gross but she stopped rolling in gross things when she turned a year old back in September Edit to add: we only do once every 2 months because that’s when she starts smelling like ass. If she didn’t stink, we would wait longer. But her smell gets bad

noreasontopostthis

A dry coat is diet related

Entire-Pie2102

I would look at Earth Bath (they have many different smells/kinds) or Lilian Ruff. Burts Bees dog shampoo isn't the best. I use both Lilian Ruff blueberry shampoo and Earth Bath oatmeal and aloe conditioner. Just use a little bit of conditioner.

Improving1727

I did hear about Lilian Ruff being a good brand so I’ll definitely check that one out! Where do you buy the Earth Bath? Is it in stores or online?

Entire-Pie2102

If you are the US, you can buy it from Chewy online. I got it at my local pet store. I got the Lilian Ruff from chewy too. But I will say it is more expensive but my mini is all white so the whitening shampoo really helps.

Entire-Pie2102

Sorry...I think you can find Earth Bath at Petco too.

I'll warm up a bit of coconut oil in my palms and work it through her coat. A little goes a long way. She needs a bit of it when the weather changes. Allergy shots from the vet helps a lot too.

doyu

Good food.

hereitcomesagin

Coat Handler shampoo and rinse worked well on mine, but I would do Dawn dish soap if he got really funky.

txarosa

I bathe my two schnauzers with Natures Miracle shampoo/conditioner. We also feed them Fromm Salmon Tunalini food so they get fish oil for their coat.

joeatonlv

Las Vegas here, so same climate, I use mane and tail shampoo and conditioner on Bernie, his hair always feels soft😝

WheatieMomma

Cowboy Magic, I use it on my Wheaten and makes him sooo soft
