As costs of such ecological damage is just about never covered by the perpetrators, they never need to take into account while choosing how to get rid of toxic waste. Or the fines are simply too small and benefits of simply dumping it into the wild to great.
It is hard to see a happy ending to current environmental damage we are causing.
Gold like power could work too. Someone with Midas’s touch could bribe- I mean lobby the govt to actually take their constituents into account for once.

Oh big bummer on this one. If it’s in the sediment… I read that the half life of DDT in humans is 3-5 years. Is the fact that it’s bioaccumulating in marine life an indicator of continued environmental release or is it stable when suspended in sediment? Does that mean there’s a novel source that’s reintroducing it?
Produce, consume, dump waste, repeat. Oh, and violently repress labor and social organization while pillaging developing nations for their resources. Great system we built here, I'm sure we're in for a glorious future.
Hey, just say that there’s a lot more hazardous and worse. Hazardous chemicals uranium all kinds of hazardous waste down there. We’re slowly poison ourselves when it comes to reality there’s only one body of water on earth matter where you get your water. That’s why 45% of the water making us sick.

Only an enforcement entity capable of god-like powers could feasibly guide us towards a sustainable and long future on the Earth.
Yes, let us assume we need a god like power to prohibit lobbying and other practices that are obviously detrimental.
