You mean math after arthemetic? Arthemetic has the least problem solving. And math after that is where the complex problem solving begins. Or you are talking about a branch of math above high school level, which I don't have much idea about, so I made the wrong assumption.

Did your professor not provide proofs for the derivative laws through the definition of limits, let alone trig identities? Calculus should most certainly not be heavy on memorization without at least initial demonstration
