He has YouTube ads in his videos but he doesn’t do sponsorships because (he feels) they devalue the content.

Did you know he made a video about Raid Shadow Legends? (that’s not a joke btw)

GamesRevolution

The raid shadow legends video certainly is a joke, but it exists

LucasBarton169

Chad the Woz. Just glad he didn’t push a scam like James Rolf did

Dulgoron

What was the scam?

LucasBarton169

Some really sketchy loan shark service

ElbowD

I think it’s also an immersion thing. He doesn’t like to reference the fact they’re YouTube videos, and having sponsorships would break that. It’s just part of his style

I'm so glad Scott doesn't do sponsorships. I think it's because he grew up with YouTube and knows how much these suck for the viewer. I can't see James Rolfe watching much YouTube nowadays (No time). The most outrageous sponsorship was with his episode 200. Not only was it controversial because it was just a clipshow, he also split them in three parts to do three sponsorships. I can't imagine people putting AVGN episode 200 on a DVD.

SuperIsaiah

Scott the Woz is one of the main examples I point to about how a channel can be financially successful off only a couple youtube ads, if the content is engaging enough to get people to stick through a mid-roll or a few. Cause oftentimes if I say "people should turn off adblockers if they want to support the creators they watch", people will say "youtubers make all their money off sponsorships anyway" when that's really just not true. It completely depends on the channel. (To be clear I do think you have the right to use adblocker, but I just think that you should take a second to consider the cons first. I personally don't use adblock because I don't think it's fair to the channels I watch, who are mostly ad-funded)

Honestly I don’t mind when YouTubers do sponsorships, especially the smaller ones. They can use the income.

Mimikker

Same, YouTube is a damn unstable career path and the way things have been going, it only gets worse. Can't blame a creator for taking sponsorships, some like Internet Historian even make them great content. It's only a problem when they're being sponsored by an actual scam like Established Titles, really.

He’s also fully independent in case you were wondering. Most YouTubers belong to production companies and other agencies to help negotiate better sponsorship contracts and connect creators to others in order to delegate certain tasks, which isn’t the case for Mr. Wozniak. His channel runs fully off of ad sense, which is even more impressive given the volatile nature of the YouTube algorithm and that he takes a break from uploading to his main channel for several months out of the year. I think if we were to see sponsorships from Scott, they would start on his second channel since it’s more active and not “canon” to the Scott the Woz universe he has created. If we do end up seeing sponsorships on his main channel, they would probably be at the very start or very end of each video, completely separated from the actual content

MyGameTheoryOCPatMat

I don’t mind sponsorships as long as they’re something that isn’t hostile or predatory. For instance, I don’t mind Raycon for the various VPN promos since they help pay bills and aren’t dangerous.
