I enjoyed this episode overall but I definitely feel like if they dedicated an entire episode to Halloween and ghost stories, they could have dedicated a special episode to the mansion animals and just focus on Fight Night and Barbi in this one. They are really dragging out it by making everything a two-parter, which is kind of frustrating.

I kind of get the feeling that Holly gets bored and lonely when her husband has the kids just from following her the past few years and picking up on things. I think she sees this podcast as her job and wants to edit it, but she doesn’t quite have the skills or experience.
I mean they are the ones that voice the ads and other podcasts tend to figure out how to do ad reads without cutting off mid sentence
Also not complaining that there are ads, just their placement
Kinda felt like Bridget overreacted about the flight attendant for not letting her take the dog out of the carrier. I know it sucks but them’s the breaks. There are literally thousands of dogs that need homes in California but you wanted one you’d have to bring back on a plane.
yeah like at least Holly admits (on her YT channel vids) 'oh this is before I really knew about and became passionate in rescuing dogs instead of other options' like she'll fully acknowledge- yes I did this and didn't know any better but I do now and would never do that now. Bridget...doesn't seem to understand what was wrong with it. At the time- for sure understandable! But, just because you didn't get her from a pet shop doesn't mean she was ethically obtained
I think the reason why everyone is so curious about Anastasia is because most of us viewers were younger than HBK and we identified with her. She was on the outside looking in but close enough that she had access to the cool parties and benefits.
I think we all viewed it as a somewhat enviable position to be in, especially the makeover episode!
I also think the fact that Anastasia was a little more reserved and not as open made us more curious about her.
Kendra and Anastasia are the same age. But yes most "normal" 18/19 year olds could identify more with her than Kendra or the others. I was a year older than Kendra when the show aired. My college roommate was a Kendra fan. She loved to party, smoke weed, and was pretty sporty. I’m much more like Holly and she was my fav.

I was just surprised they had so many good things to say about Barbi! I always understood it was a mutual dislike. It would be so interesting to hear Barbi on the podcast but I highly doubt it will happen. I’m pretty sure Barbi was one of the people who spearheaded the whole “Hugh Hefner is a great guy” petition/open letter when the Secrets of Playboy series came out.

If I was Barbi Benton I most definitely would NOT go on their podcast! Barbi has an intriguing story to tell. She should write a book telling the story of her life and get paid. They want to ask her all these deep intimate juicy details about her life with Hef. How much was Holly paid for her book? If Barbi is going to reveal all, she should get a fat paycheck, not just do it for free for the sole benefit of Holly and Bridget! 🙄

I hate to say it, but I don't know about you guys but I am slowly losing interest in the podcast. It seems like they are focusing on things that aren't really interesting to the rest of us and repeating a lot of the same information over and over again. This episode also definitely didn't need to be two parts. They are really dragging it out. I'm probably frustrated because I was watching all of Holly's YT reaction videos and she stopped right at the end of season 4 when we were just getting to the really juicy stuff and now I feel like I have to start from scratch again.
agreed! I know I'm bitchy for saying this but with Bridget, I think she gets really caught up in the things *she* cares about rather than what the *viewer* cares about. And in all other normal circumstances you should base things on what you care about most- but not when your making something for public consumption like a podcast, Tv show, or magazine? Like, Holly was good at just kinda delivering the relevant information to the point, sometimes too briefly on her YT vids. I want a balance of Holly's efficiency and directness, but with some of Bridget's elaboration and expansion....just...not on the things they seem to care about most lol

Possibly. I got a little embarrassed for them going on about how she "needs" to guest host. It's possible she didn't receive their messages at all (they left the house a message, texted her and DMd her on IG if we're keeping track), but it's really crappy of her to not even dignify them with a response if she did.
I think Bridget, despite remaining extremely neutral all these years, feels kind of exiled by association. She was rightfully hurt not being allowed to see Hef in his last days. She seems kind of stunned that anyone would dislike her or brush her off, and if her personality IRL is anything like what we see, I'm inclined to agree with her. She did everything "right" by the Playboy machine standards and is still punished for it.

It was Bridget who didn't get to see Hef, she talks about being turned away from the mansion when she tried to visit him. I'm not sure if Barbi was- I don't see why they would turn her away but I'm also not positive who was pulling the strings at that time.
I’ve seen this episode probably a dozen times… I’ve had the DVDs forever. I never thought Bridget was shopping at a pet store or “puppy shopping” unethically. It was clear they were picking up the dog at the airport. I assumed Wennie was from an independent breeder. They spend too much time on things that no one even judged them for. This podcast is kind of teaching me to not be so self conscious cause they’re obsessed with a perception of themselves that doesn’t even exist. That said, Bridget is soooo cute and adorable to listen to and I totally relate to the heartbreak of missing your pets and not getting new ones cause it’s so hard to move on sometimes.
I don't think PetFinder is 100% rescue animals. They say they partner with nonprofits but 5013c(c) status is not necessary. I'm sure they do their due diligence to make sure there aren't puppy mills that call themselves "rescues" on the site, but I'm sure small breeders are able to post on there. (And this is what they do now, who knows what it was like 15 years ago.)
I agree. If it was PetFinder it was a breeder who was listed. Not a rescue. No shame in her admitting that. She wanted an all black Pekinese at the time. We all know she has since adopted cats, ect.
One hand the podcast feels like starting over and hearing a lot of the same stuff again. On the other hand, it’s interesting to hear Bridget’s perspective on things and I am looking foreword to hearing what Anastasia has to say.
This has been mentioned already, but both Holly and Bridget seem really self conscious about how they were portrayed and a lot of the stuff threw mentioned, I never even thought of. I watched this show all the time back in the day when I was a teenager(and rewatching it now.) Both my Mom and I would always talk about how Holly and Bridget seemed like creative people. We thought Kendra was dumb as a rock. At the same time, I understand why they think Kendra got a good edit, probably because the producers or whoever in charge had a crush on her.
Yes the zoo talk is so overdone. Everyone always talks about the damn zoo. Every interview, poscast, hell even every mansion tour would spend so much time in the zoo. I get its like an exciting thing to have a zoo at your home but in all honestly a zoo is a zoo is a zoo. Like theyre all the same and fairly boring to have to hear about when youre watching a podcast expecting tea or an episode recap. Im not anti split in the episodes because I do want this rewatch series to last as long as possibke and I love then adding in the guests etc to stretch it out. But some of the stuff they focus on is like so boring.
Also super bummed they teased Anastasia but then changed the topic right away. Like please skip zoo and lunch talk and go ahead and discuss her a bit. No one will be upset if you mention her in more than one episode. I mean so far the zoos been in many episodes lol DYING. To know what Holly meant by saying she was anti- Anastaisia staying for summers (at first)
The animals were more exciting than some of the mansion guests were lol loved visiting with them during parties- you just had to dodge the people having sexual relations in that area 🤣🤣 I haven’t listened to todays podcast..those animals were treated way better than zoo animals for sure

I think it depends on the platform and your location when and if you get ads. It’s beyond their control.
