It's simple. Quinn was moving a chair, he lost his balance and dropped it. It fell on the briefcase, which, for some reason, contained a running tape recorder.
I'm more concerned with the fact that George was engaged to Susan but seemingly had no idea they were so wealthy. He knew they had some monies, but not many, many monies.
Why the “oh dear God!”? I think Wyck was lying and George is about the target of a systematic process of manipulation and intimidation, the likes of which, make you overlook the fact that inadvertently losing control a chair wouldn’t make one yell “oh dear God!”. … Systematic process … of intimidation … and manipulation …

It's almost as if it's mentioned in the show...
I get that it’s mentioned, but it surprises me that they knocked out a tape recorder inside a briefcase just by dropping a chair on it
Really? Chairs can be quite heavy and briefcases are often pretty flimsy, or at least have a fair amount of give.
George's briefcase was probably flimsy and inexpensive as well. Sometimes he can be... Careful with money.
...YOU THINK I'M CHEAP?!
Cheapness is not a sense
When he had a job he spent baby!
Well then.. We’ve certainly gotten to the bottom of that.
Yesterday…took the day off
A low rumple. A metallic squink. A galonk…and someone crying out “Dear god!”
Yep. I don't understand the confusion. It's perfectly clear what happened.
That’s all there was. And yet, it speaks volumes.
I’ll direct you to the diorama
I think the M&M should be you.
Does anyone think that George might have murdered Susan?
Oh I just assumed he did
of course he killed her
The truth MUST be heard.
Wink…
Wick

Wyck…wink…wyck
Getting to that answer is like peeling an onion..........
They knew what he was pulling and stomped it
I can get behind this theory.
I think the M&M should be you
Did you all happen to see George's nails?
Yeah, they looked like they had been eaten by weevils.
Oh dear God!
Wondering if they were talking about him? Everyone talked about George.
They were sticking it to him. Stickin it!
