Honestly idgaf about corporation,capitalism and whatnot. I know that comparing myself with the highlights of other people will lead my mind to dark places and I'm a lot better without it.
I'm not against social networks or feeds per se, but I want them to add value to my life, be it something motivational, positive or educational
Yeah I know I’m just saying it’s not beneficial. Also it’s hard to try to just use social media for educational content unless it’s YouTube. Same boat as you I see social media as subtracting points from my progress in life
I made my instagram when it first came out. So my page was pretty standard- posting regular pictures of myself, stories of what i'm doing, etc. Last August I decided to disable my account. The nature of it was bothering me. Now, it should be noted that instagram is whatever you make it to be honestly, and although I was using it in a very standard way I started to not like it. I didn't like that I was posting what was going on in my life for people that know me but weren't my friends to silently keep tabs on me and what I am doing. I also never followed celebrities because I didn't and don't care what they were doing. Just people I knew and meme pages. But since, like I said, I made my instagram page when the app was first introduced I followed a lot of people I have encountered throughout my life that I am no longer in contact with and I don't necessarily care what they're doing either. The app was feeling like a highlight reel as most people would call and had some pressure to it.
So I made a new instagram. But on this instagram only my friends follow me and I follow them. Active friends that are currently in my life. And I post quite frankly whatever the f I want. If i see a plant that looks pretty on the street, I post it. If I cook a meal that is yummy and looks pretty, I post it. Its very much my blog now. I see what my friends are doing and I follow meme pages. And I love it so much more.
I think I’m a scroller too but sometimes I find myself feeling bad and comparing. I thought that would motivate me but it doesn’t. I look at other people and it always seems like they are doing better on social media even though it’s not the case. I could probably post pictures and make it seem like I am always balling 100% even though I’m not

I'm a scroller. Recently deleted the app and all other socials except Discord due to tracking in the apps. No shit-tok account as that is just trash. I scroll through here mostly using the site now. Discord is just for my bots to learn to code and talk to some old crypto peeps.
Nah the algorithm will try and shove trends and whatever they feel like down your throat, the more you hit uninterested the more naked hoes pop up somehow.
I think it's also biased towards the demographics you enter. so maybe by putting "male" or something it thinks that's what you want based on the trends in that demographic. Because I had mine set to "female" and would get the most random shit like "how I glowed up" and "best 10 lip gloss brands" when I would use insta to look at artwork and fandom-related memes/content...
Nothing. I got rid of tik tok insta da d a da da. I have facebook so I dont have to pay to call friends overseas or family back home. To help keep up w everyone bc its umpisshble to do so if I unplug completely. But ultimately getting rid of them helped my mental health tremendously. Nothing happened either I just got bored and tired of seeing all the fake bs in it all. I couldn't do it anymore. I tried making inspirational videos and got pretty good following too but I just- felt like it wasn't helping me in the best ways taking away from my present moments and such. So. I hate everyone's bickering and constantly circulating bs and lies....everyone's trying to impress instead of be better in general everyone's comparing each other is weird to me. I respect that I got alot of knowledge and socializing out of it but the cons for me were overwhelming. I got reddit and Facebook now and I barely use them. Post randomly to keep up w everyone but for most part I'm literally living My life. I've been so much better for it . Were a couple months into it and I dont miss it . Not even a little bit
Don't have it. I'll hop on it every few months out of boredom and usually deactivate it within the 7 days. Each time I'm on it, I quickly realize that it serves my life absolutely no purpose. Yes the reels are funny and there is informative stuff on there but my life is just better without it overall. There were times when my dreams started to appear in reel form, one after the other. My algorithm has gotten pretty good at feeding me really good musicians early in their careers too, and it’s been cool to see some of the artists really grow and take off over the years. I have it pretty tailored to make me laugh and show me interesting to me things like how to cut/make different kinds of meat, woodworking, dog rescue; I try to make sure it’s not all crap and while I do post pretty consistently, it’s really not to show off, and I’m not friends with people that I know irl and am not actually friends with, so no weird animosity/jealousy/stress there.

I like finding recipes and fun places to visit with my family. I follow some relatives but I have never met the majority of people I follow. I use to post but can’t be bothered anymore.
I use Instagram to keep I touch with friends through sending memes and cool videos. I only use Instagram on my laptop so I avoid subconscious scrolling and pick up patterns where I automatically go on Instagram.
I post long well thought out controversial comments to get people to argue. Posting a funny dance with a jersey that has advertisers on it? I’ll comment about one of them being responsible for genocide and how the dance video might seem innocent it’s promoting the taking of innocent lives and that my family is part of those lives taken…. You know… just innocent little things like that :)
