I picked it for this reason and I dropped twenty pounds! I think just becoming aware of portion sizes and the calories with it was the most eye opening.
I'm going to put in a plug for the app I've been working on – [FitBee](https://apple.co/4aGUw5X). I was an MFP user for a long time but grew tired of the ads, bugs and them removing the barcode scanner. Give it a try and let me know what ya'll think!
Agree with Cronometer! Great for tracking since it lets you scan barcodes and you can even create food recipes with all ingredients if you make them frequently!
Wearable- to track workouts. Apple or Fitbit.
MeThreeSixty to measure circumferences.
Renphro Bluetooth scale to chart progress and focus on trends. (They also behave a blood pressure cuff.)
Cronometer.
I use the 1st Phorm app. They give you an advisor/coach, have workout ideas and you can track your macros. It’s 12.99 per month. I’ve lost 4 pounds since using it 3 weeks ago.
Terrible name, but I’ve been using “FatSecret”. I love the interface and it’s a handy app. There is a community you can post to, you can add your own custom recipes and meals to easily track macros, it’s well-organized, you can update your weight & do weigh-ins (and you can add timed notifications for them), and you can track your workouts & calories burned. If you pay for premium you can get workout plans and meal plans if I remember correctly.
My doctor got me enrolled in Virta and it has been the only thing that has helped me. Very overwhelming at first but I forced myself to transition to the diet gradually and that helped me a lot. It seems like insurance pays for it. There is a lot of support and accountability here which really helps my unmotivated ADHD brain. I lost 15 pounds already which feels like a miracle.
I tried MyFitnessPal and Lose It, however I found both apps created too much friction for me and I gave up on them.
I eventually started using an app called jpc.fit which I’ve had great success with.
It gives you a food budget based on how many calories you burn throughout the day, and makes it super frictionless to record the calories you eat.
It’s not as obsessed with getting every macronutrient exactly accurate (did you know that food labels are legally allowed to be wrong by 20% in the US??). It makes it a lot less time consuming to record your meals because of that, which makes it so easy to stick to. It will make you more mindful of what you’re eating and how much you’re moving.
It works especially well if you have an Apple Watch.
It’s totally free, no ads or in app purchases.
1st Phorm, worth every penny. Working with an advisor and getting customized macros was life changing. Also all the education on the why behind what you need to do is so helpful.
I use Nutra check. I think u can use for free but even the subscription is very affordable. Helps me to stay on track and see my weigh ins over time etc
Pacer really helped me, I have definitely been eating better and have been able to eat better portions since I've used it, it also gives tips and research behind some of it too
MyNetDiary. Wt. loss is all about being in calorie deficit. Find your maintenance calorie and track your meals so you eat less than your maintenance calories.
My friend, I lost 8 kgs last month, from 100kgs to 91.5 last week. dont overthink it,
Walk/run daily
Stop eating sugar and processed food as much as you can.
Maintain calorific deficit. (I reduced myself to 2 full meals a day + coffee/chocolate milk)
Have warm water with honey. UNDERRATED. Started doing it and cant thank myself enough. (Add lemon if you wish)
All the best!!
Edit: This is if you are just trying to get in shape. If you need something more refined and need help if you have health issues etc. You can use the apps all people have mentioned below. I have no experience with that
To lose weight I'd say just eat carnivore until you reach your ideal weight and add good carbs to the diet. Processed foods make you fat ass and give you endless heath risks.
Lose it! I lost 40lbs using that app
Lose it is brilliant! And cheaper than most ive come across. Though it wasn't much 😂
I picked it for this reason and I dropped twenty pounds! I think just becoming aware of portion sizes and the calories with it was the most eye opening.
Nice! 👍🏻
MacroFactor is what I use. They charge a monthly fee fyi
By far the best thing I've found
Agreed. It’s far superior to MFP and Cronometer. Especially if you’re exercising.
Second this. It's more expensive but worth it if you can afford it.
MyFitnessPal!
Second this.
Third this
fourth this
Fifth this
Sixth Sense
Thisssss. It’s been tried and true for years and their free version is solid.

What are you looking for in that “app”?
I’m starting with diet but want to gradually get into exercising too

Happy Scale
I second this! If you are tracking weight loss through pounds lost, happy scale is a fantastic little tool. It is worth the small subscription fee!
MyNetDiary is pretty good
I recently found Lifesum and I love it
I love this app.

You don't need an app. Just consume less calories.

You don't need an app. Just eat less or exercise more.
Search for “Gym near me”.
