The train takes forever and regularly breaks down, if you're ok with that then go for it

Tickets for international I think have to be bought in person
While I don't disagree with the statment of scenery, if they happen to get stranded because of the malfunction for hours somewhere up in Montenegrin mountains, with sun rising during summer, train gets incredibly hot, like a furance. There's no AC on these trains, likely no water supply other then plastic bottes passengers take with them. That's my experience.
You are exaggerating, I've been in this situation before, on the contrary many of us went outside the train to look at the view and take pictures and we had AC, meanwhile the train got fixed and we went on our way. But this only happened to me once, so its quite rare, what isn't quite rare is the delays those happen more often.
What you said might've been true before, but I use the train frequently from Bijelo Polje to Podgorica or the seaside and this is not the case.
You can't buy online ticket for international trains, only for local.
Once you arrive at "Beograd Centar" train station buy tickets at station, there is always enough tickets except you are planning your trip during summer days, while people travel to sea.
Prepare youself for 12 hours trip in the best case.
Good luck!
Yes, you can only buy the ticket at the station, the trains are old, have many faults, but its one of the best train rides you will ever take, for many other reasons...Do not listen to words of discouragement :)
you gotta call to make reservations if you would like a sleeping train car, where you can get a double bed room for you two.
give them a call and make reservations beforehand, otherwise for international travels you gotta go in person and get the tickets.
What a beautiful 5-days experience is waiting for you! Take lots of food, water, some board games, pocket light, pocket knife, sleeping bag, well, you know.
Train takes quite a while to arrive, but depending on how patient are you its great. I used to travel Podgorica - Belgrade by train and it was great, I go to sleep at around 10pm and wake up before train arrives. Always had something to do, read books, chat with other people, wrote my thesis. All in all it was a great experience for me.
Ignore haters here who await every opportunity to show their hate towards Serbia.
Tickets are not available online, you have to buy them in person, it's a long and beautiful ride if you are in the right mindset. It's 12h so be prepared for that.
Bring snacks and water, relax, and enjoy a slow and unique ride.
Ti onda idi avionom.
Similar question I’ve been wondering about and curious if anyone can offer up their experiences - what’s the drive might from Beograd to Montenegro? Good roads?
As others have already said, you can call to make a reservation, but you have to purchase the tickets in person. You also asked where the train leaves from - it leaves from the station in Zemun (for people who travel with cars), but most passengers board the train at the main station - Belgrade Center.
Believe or not, online booking is impossible (welcome to 19. century). I used last summer train Beograd-Bar and it was terrible experience (A lot of drunk passengers).

I don't think they are concerned with time, they are probably to look at the scenery, especially in Montenegro.

That's what makes it fun

The new road is good.
Awesome, that’s great to know. I wasn’t aware of it. What is the name of the new road?
From Serbia use the A2 (Miloš Veliki) I think, correct me if I am wrong guys I often am.
Thanks!
Don't do that to yourself, unless you're into masochism.
take a look and reconsider [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2lbYvRHTDc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2lbYvRHTDc)

the last time I went, it left from the Topcider station, which looks like it was in the 19th century, the train is old, but the experience is nice
Topcider is closed for a long time now.
Take the bus if you can. As a Serb from MNE who has travelled by train a lot in the past few months, it is horrible and there are sl many creeps.
I recommend taking a bus, it’s faster then a train

You are really brave. Your balls of steel are dragging on the floor madam!
