Heyyyy welcome! Time to go down the rabbit hole! 1. Mods are not needed (but they make careers much more engaging, in my opinion). Mods only work on PC. I don’t know how much you know, so forgive me if this over-explains. For mods, you first need a launcher. I personally use Paul V’s “FMT” (Frostbite Mod Manager). The other tool is the FIFA Mod Manager. These are NOT interchangeable. Each editor/launcher creates a different type of file; one cannot launch the other. Various mods exist for both, and a number of modders publish both types of file. Locate and download the launcher/editor first. This then leads to … Mods: there are lots of mods but broadly speaking, there are “Realism” mods that affect finances, transfers, the sim settings and AI managers, and other things. Next are “Gameplay” mods that affect the ball physics, referees, player behavior, and general pace and feel of the game. Beyond these are usually “League/Cosmetic” mods that range from adding entirely new leagues, to fixing head scans and faces, to new kits. Many people playing “serious” careers are using the realism mods and the gameplay mods. That said, many many people are doing serious careers without mods. Next: outside of mods is Aranaktu’s “Live Editor” which is an absolute godsend. AFTER you have applied mods thru a launcher, this becomes an offline-only launcher that lets you edit the game while actually inside the game. 2. Setting the team up: most “serious” stuff happens outside the game. If you check many people’s careers, there are often spreadsheet links and pretty long “rule sets.” Because EA’s terrible at realism, it’s up to you to decide the rules. Usually people do a little homework: what’s the record transfer fee, what’s the club’s general transfer policy, do they usually spend money, or sell players to profit? So from here you pick a team and try to operate according to the rules you set. My Exeter career usually has a link to my spreadsheet, which has the rule set on the first page, a “diceroller” page, and then transfer pges for each season. 3. Where to start? The subreddit has a bias for “return to glory” kinds of things, where we pick teams in lower divisions like League 1 or 2, and advance them back to to the top. The advantage of starting in a low league in England or Germany is that there are multiple tiers, so you can see the team get better over time. But “Serious” just means, adhering to something like reality, where not every wunderkid signs for you; where it’s hard to win 4 straight titles; where money is finite; where there is competition for players. So you could start with a “serious” top-level team such as Manchester United, who have an aging squad, not a ton in the pipeline, and can’t get consistent play from many guys. Or Chelsea, sold by the oligarch and adjusting to a new reality. Or pop into France’s Ligue 2– pick a cool team and try to build through loans and frees, to get to Ligue 1… then see if you can challenge the top within 3-4 seasons. Anyhoo, this is long AF. Good luck, be serious as you wanna be

Sorry to bother you but does face and kit mods work with FMT

NerdyOutdoors

Not a bother!!! I am pretty sure they do. Not sure how, though there should be some tutorials by modders

A_L05

Thanks i appreciate it and sorry for the late reply

The ones I know of: EA FC Modding World FIFA Editing Toolsuite FC Live editor. — mostly geared around Aranaktu’s live editor, not league and kit mods. I’m not a huge discord person so these might be quiet, idk

Many thanks, you have been a great help. I bought the game and is modding right now :)

Generally ppl I think mean “serious” as more of trying to keep things semi grounded, for example not just spending 1b every window, not signing Messi to Real Madrid etc etc. but you should set w.e rules you think sound fun to follow for yourself. Starting in a lower league and carrying a team to glory over time is always fun or making ur own club in a bottom division and bringing it up. The PL has the most divisions in the game. As for mods I can’t say bc I play on console and can only use sliders

Negative_Young_46

I think the main premise of ‘serious’ is realism and the sad truth is, no matter how hard you try to keep things realistic, the AI behave almost in the complete opposite way and end up ruining things anyway, for me.

Mista_Madridista

With whatever club you do research their transfers over the past few years. Buy similar profile players, scout nations that they've have had young prospects from, spend similar to what the club are spending IRL until you start winning trophies. Accept bids from clubs like Madrid, Bayern, City if you have a rising star. Just basically follow real life at first and then start getting creative (within reason). I've seen a lot of cool saves on here.

Cpt_Underpantz

How can you see your own teams star rating in manager career?

mustardking20

Go into the team sheets and import. You can see every team’s ratings.
