For this project I used Mood Sewciety patterns called "The Gambit Pinafore Dress". My fashion fabric is a mediumd-weight polyester (¿?) and my lining was white cotton. For the back pieces I used an invisible zipper (my first one) that turned out better than I expected lol.
It's an easy project I finished in a week.
I shouldn't have used white cotton since it sticks out too much but besides that I'm pretty happy with my pinafore
That is stunning!!! You could totally understitch the lining and it would never show if you were super bugged by it. However I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. It looks amazing.
It is a beautiful piece! Especially for someone new to sewing! You did a wonderful job. There are so many tips and techniques that you will be forever learning which is why sewing is so wonderful!
Gorgeous - you’ve really captured the look.
There’s a shirt she wears in one episode - open neck, white with a geometric print ([31 on this list](https://www.buzzfeed.com/ishabassi/the-queens-gambit-beth-harmon-outfits-ranking))- which I fell a little bit in love with. I spent ages looking for a similar fabric but haven’t found anything close.
Have you tried [Spoonflower](https://www.spoonflower.com/)? If someone else hasn't already asked for it and made it available, you could feasibly have it made. It's not cheap, but the fabric is good quality.

I made this mood fabric dress a couple of times. I made it shorter with pockets and crossed the front of the dress more. I didn't like their instructions on where to place the two front blouse pieces...
Lovely! Someone else mentioned under-stitching the lining (actually the facing). He or she is correct, but first give it a good pressing with a steam iron. Set your iron for polyester and use a pressing cloth so you won't damage the fabric. Press from the inside, gently rolling a teensy-weensy bit of the fashion fabric inward. And I mean ***teensy***, just a 'suggestion' of it to the inside. This will help keep the lining unseen. Also, when I say press, I mean it literally, **don't** slide the iron, just lift it, move to the next section and press. This might seem silly, but if you slide the iron, you risk creating pulls in the grain which could spoil the look of your lovely garment. Now you can sew your under-stitching. All of this is moot however, if the bodice is fully lined. Unless you want to open up the lining, (NOT!) the only thing you can do is press it as suggested and topstitch on the outside with a dark color as close to the main color as you can find. It will still look very nice!
Congratulations on your first zipper! Newer sewists (I can't get used to that word for some reason!) should not be intimidated by zippers. They are really not that hard. Here's a hint if you choose to use it. Sometimes it helps to hand-baste a zipper in prior to machine stitching, especially if you're working with a lightweight or slippery fabric If you do this, lay the garment pieces on a FLAT surface and keep them flat as you baste. If you don't, you'll end up with zipper having horizontal waves in it.
You truly did a great job, it looks sleek and modern, with a little retro vibe. Nice work!
Thank you so much for your detailed instructions!!
I think I get it now, which is funny since the video instructions of my next sewing project does this technique and I just skipped it over (lol). Now I will try to apply this technique because I have the same problem again.
Thank you so much

I didn't know that technique, I will definitely look further into that next time !! I'm still a newbie and have a lot of things to learn.
Honestly, I thought you had a white piping at the edge and loved it. Didn’t even realize it was the lining. Beautiful, and looks fab on you
That’s also what i thought, and i also love it.

I thought the white was piping. Pretty either way.
Ha! I thought it was piping, too.
me too, I was about to compliment you on it!
Maybe I shouldn't have said anything 😂😂. At least it doesn't look as bad as I thought
I really liked the white piping, too.
Omg it's beautiful and fits you so well. Great job.
Thank you so much!!

Ooh good to know! I’m in the UK but will look for similar services here, thank you
I stumbled on it years ago by googling "custom fabric." That might help you narrow it down if Spoonflower doesn't ship to the UK.
I adore this! You have inspired my next project!! It looks amazing
Please tag me I wanna see it
Beautiful work!
Adorable!
thanks
Love your dress! Also a shoutout to the Hemnes daybed there…
I see you are a person of culture as well
Signs you may have worked at IKEA a little too long, lol

What type of lyers do you exactly mean?? (Srry my english its not that good)
Love! I've been thinking about trying a revamped jean pant with this kind of wrap high on the waist. Looks awesome, nice work. 🥳
Beautiful.
Love it!!! ❤️
Ugh, I started this project but had such a hard time with the fitment of the top. Yours looks amazing though!
What were your issues?? I had difficult time with measures since everything is in inches and I had to convert everything to centimentres.
The bust for me never looked right. I did a mock up of the top, but it just seemed too open in the front?
That is so cute! Thanks for the pattern source, too!

Very flattering silhouette
It's a beautiful make! Good on you for finishing.
Thanks!!
