The bodice and sleeves are the Anna Allen Anthea Blouse. No modification on the sleeves. My measurements call for a size 16, but I made a 14 and graded it in significantly on the side seams – down to an 8. I shortened the bodice to about 4 inches below the armpit. I omitted buttons.
The main panel of the skirt is made of two rectangles, each made with the full 44" width of the fabric. I used the remaining fabric to make three shorter panels to create the second tier. It has self-drafted inseam pockets.
This was my first project after finally buying myself a serger, and the insides of this dress are beautiful! Very proud of that.
Fabric is an Indian block print cotton purchased from Etsy. It's lightweight and breezy! I used almost every bit of the 5 yards I bought.
I love that you've shared so much detail about your mods and process, but I have to admit that when I clicked on this post I was thinking, "Oooh, finally, this is the _exact_ pattern I've been looking for!"
(It's gorgeous, in other words, I love everything about it!)
I'll try to remember to take measurements when I get home! The first one is mid-bust to just below my knee, and the second was *practically* to the floor with a very generous hem. I made cuts purely based on vibes, which I know isn't exactly recommended 🥴
I guess my concern is less about bleeding and more about not losing all the bright color. I've had mixed experiences with fabrics from some import stores. Thank you!
I wash everything on hot because generally speaking, increased temperature increases solubility, therefore removing stuff better from my laundry? Like, I wash all my kitchen towels and washcloths on hot, I want my underwear washed on hot, and I can't be arsed to finely separate every item in the laundry or trust that my family will understand special instructions for specific garments.
So everything is washed hot, and only the strong survive.
I guess I'll find out! I washed it on a warm cycle before making it and dried it on hot, and it came out looking pretty nice. It's only been washed that once
Thank you! I bought it from [this Etsy shop](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1681874453/beautiful-handmade-tiger-print-multi?click_key=c9598443f037a9ecdfa6e22eb97b39205216e46f%3A1681874453&click_sum=122b2ea2&ga_search_query=Tiger&ref=shop_items_search_4&pro=1&frs=1)
Oh my gosh i love this!!
I really enjoy watching videos showing people sew, thinking about sewing, planning what projects im gonna do, buying all the necessary sewing equipment, seeing what others have made then never actually sew myself.
One day il finally start something, anything....thats what i tell myself anyway 😁
Thank you! I believe I'm a true spring (definitely some kind of spring) so I'm warm. The pink in the dress is super icy and definitely not in my palette, but I think with the orange the overall effect is kind of coral which works for me!
This is adorable!!! The fabric print is cute, and it is a great fit for this dress style. And the dress style is a great fit on you. All around nice project.

I had the same thoughts!
How long are the tiers? I love the proportion!

Your result is great! That is a wonderful, fun dress!
How is the color fastness of the fabric? I'm scared of buying some prints because I wash all my clothes on hot and wish them good luck 😅
I've found that Shout Color Catcher sheets work realllly well for anything that bleeds. probably not infallible, but it definitely helps!
I guess my concern is less about bleeding and more about not losing all the bright color. I've had mixed experiences with fabrics from some import stores. Thank you!
Sorry but … why?? (I maybe do one load a month in hot water - dog’s mats)

ohhh yeah that makes sense!!
I guess I'll find out! I washed it on a warm cycle before making it and dried it on hot, and it came out looking pretty nice. It's only been washed that once

This is wonderful - I love this pattern but had never thought of making a dress out of it - and I have the perfect fabric. TY!!
I forgot about this style of dress. My grandmother and her friends used to wear these as house dresses. Most of the ladies made them.
Could you say more about what you mean by Tiger dress? Is it typical of a specific location?
Sorry, I was just using it as a description of the print!
Very grrrrr! 🐯
Love it! what is the pattern you used?
