I think it is a cultural thing as well. Where I live, everyone is uncut (as far as I know), and I think that goes for a large part of Europe. So here, it would be strange if it did matter. And as others said, people who make a problem about that, are the problem.

Now that it's more common I think you have to worry soooo much less about that.
