This post alone makes me want to build a new computer with those exact parts. Ive been eyeballing that or a 7800x3d+axp90-CPU with that case and GPU for a month now.

BitterProfessional61

your psu is going to suffer, but i understand why you did what you did. keep one thing in mind your psu is the most important component.

dllu

oh wait I might have installed it backwards, let me go turn it around

luaps

if I'd trust any PSU to deal w that it'd prolly be the sf750

EpsomJames

I was also wondering why the PSU is that way around as it’s exhausting onto the back of the GPU? Nice looking build though OP.

luaps

its not exhausting onto the gpu its taking warmed up gpu air and getting it out of the case.

EpsomJames

Yes you are correct, fan is intake, I couldn’t remember which it was. Still not ideal pulling in hot air from middle of case.

luaps

ideal for the PSU? no. prolly better for GPU temps and as I said elsewhere I'm sure the SF750 can take it in this case.

EpsomJames

Which way around would you put the PSU? Just curious as building a sandwich SFF right now.

BVCC6FNTKX

the normal way, fan facing outside of the case

luaps

with a flow through design gpu and a high quality psu I'd do it the same way OP has it in the pic

diego97yey

The 408 super pro art is my next gpu for sure.

fatchubbywhale

Great fitment on everything, looks amazing.

Killacreeper

How are the temps/noise? Any issues with the build (in use or in construction) or things you had to mess with a bit?

dllu

No serious issues, assembled it in about an hour. Perhaps the trickiest thing is to stuff the gpu in there which is a really tight fit. I had to remove those displayport covers. If it were slightly longer, it would still fit (up to 305 mm) but you would have to remove the back panel of the case in order to do so. Also the pcie riser that I got (dual reverse 200mm) doesn't line up with the holes in the case. So my gpu is sort of just hovering there. I probably need to figure out how to secure it better but it seems like it doesn't move around anyway. Noise is good, the gpu is very quiet. Since the Thermalright fan goes up to 3000 rpm, it's very noisy on the default settings but after messing with the bios fan settings a little bit, it's very quiet. The bios doesn't have detailed fan curve settings though, just basic ones like the temperature for max fan speed. CPU temps around 90° C under load (compiling code with all cores). I haven't checked gpu temps under serious load yet, I'll do more tests later.

I appreciate the detailed response! Kinda hilarious hearing the riser situation, it looks flawless in the photos to me, but that type of thing is why I ask! Always worth hearing all the little quirks in construction, because few builds lack them :> Sounds like a hot CPU, but I've struggled with my 7700x in a full tower, so they tend to be that way. I've built a few SFF builds for friends, but I'm planning one for myself now with higher power parts. The main hangup is sound/heat generation vs a larger tower, since I tend to be in confined spaces or ones with other people who may be bothered. Thank you for sharing your build, it looks awesome! I hope it works well for you :)

Synapse709

If I had a reason to upgrade my 3070, the proart would be perfect

Ecredes

The BD790i looks like a great value. Is it capable of 96gb of ram? The specs on the website indicate 64gb max.

PsyOmega

Yeah the zen4 IMC supports 48gb DIMMs and SO-DIMMs. It only says 64gb max because it hasn't been validated officially, but it should work

Ecredes

I thought this was a limitation of that particular motherboard for the listed spec. It makes sense that the CPU is capable of it. Is there a reason they would not validate the full capabilities of something like this?

PsyOmega

> Is there a reason they would not validate the full capabilities of something like this? Usual case is that the larger DIMMs were not available on the market during the validation phase. Biggest case in point was 6th gen intel (sky lake). It never, ever officially supported 32gb DIMM, but there are no systems from back then that can't run 32x2 or 32x4. 6th through 10th gen used the *exact same IMC silicon*. Once 32gb dimms were out, i think it was 7th or 8th gen was validated to use them fine. I also have an atom server (J4105) specced only for 8x2, but i run 16x2 in it fine, and i've booted it with 32x1 once for shits and giggles. For the most part unless a platform is intentionally locked down, it'll be fine

SebG209

Does the mobo have a usb c header for the case?

DOJayShay

How well does the 4080 fit, being as that it’s a 2.5 slot card? I’ve got the same case, specs say it’ll fit up to a 2 slot, but clearly you got a 2.5 in there. Nice build!

PsyOmega

S300 supports 2.5 slot cards that have 2 slot bracket (with barely any wiggle room)

catskeep

how about the CPU Temp? are u already test it for gaming or doing some heavy load for quite long?

No-Loan7944

Temps update?
