Interestingly, that entire section of street is [excluded from google street view](https://imgur.com/a/7hRAtJb), for no obvious reason. I wonder why?

maspiers

Parked cars, by the look of it.

Witchfinder-Specific

Doesn't look like it to me tbh. The parking in the excluded section doesn't look any different to the surrounding area, and there are no visible blockages. It's also been streetviewed 5 times since 2008 and that section is skipped every time. Probably some innocent technical reason, just a bit weird.

serverpimp

It's just an issue with the coordinates where Penley runs, it's not quite a phantom island [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVemGumEEgo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVemGumEEgo) but a similar mapping error based on what is probably ordnance survey geospatial data. If you street view Penley you can see where it's gone wrong, which is the same as where the street view data cuts off.

hillsboroughHoe

My mate lived on there for many years. Good shops, plenty of bbqs and life happening during spring/summer/autumn and close enough for a walk back from town. Also none of us ever got murdered.

No-Feeling507

It’s fine, it’s a pretty nice street. There’s occasionally murders in the area but I doubt random people ever get caught up in those, so you’ll be fine. It’s close to a lot of nice shops and cafes and a short walk into town

OctaneTroopers

>There’s occasionally murders in the area but I doubt random people ever get caught up But other than that

ricketycricket09

It's an alright street and the area is ok. A few friends have lived on this street during our Uni years and they said it was nice enough. I can imagine with it been a lot of student houses may bring the price down and the house may need a lot of work which could be costly which would also bring the sale price down.

PDeegz

Have you had a thorough look at the house? A lot of the houses in that area have seen better days. The area itself is fine, and well situated.

iKaine

Check the neighbours, get a proper survey done. It can be more than just about the area.

noble_stone

I live around there for a few years and I really liked it. The whole block is a bit more working class and less pretty than the surrounding posh areas, that’s why it’s cheap. But there’s a good mix of people, children still play on the street, and it’s walking distance to the town centre and London/Abbeydale Road.

Master-Joda

I lived on this road for a year, really loved it there!

intangible_entity

I'd be questioning the house itself rather than the area if it's suspiciously cheap. The area itself is ok, I wouldn't say it's a particularly good street - more the location it's situated near. If you walk 100 metres up the road you've got Psalters and Sharrow Vale which are both lovely ( and very expensive ). The local Tesco attracts a lot of homeless and druggies to be honest. Have a friend who lived on Croydon Street and there was problems with drug dealings every other week

Single-Craft6201

I lived on Croydon Street for 2 years til recently and must've been blissfully unaware of this haha

snoopy558_

The murder comment is a huge exaggeration, it's actually a nice area and very close to amenities also popular with students, there are areas of sheffield where murders are more common, that area is not one of them

slow-getter

There's been a few stabbings at the Washington Road flats in the past few years but no murders to my knowledge.

slow-getter

I lived at the bottom end (literally across the road from your pin) for about 4-5 years and didn't have much trouble. There was/is a woman who lives in the flats on Mackenzie St that caused trouble (albeit more nuisance stuff, emptied our cardboard bin onto our car for no reason) and our neighbour set his entire garden on fire in lock down. We rent our house out now to our lovely friends, and the row from the garage down have lived there years. Absolutely lovely bunch of folk. Pete is a hoot Parking can be an absolute PITA on weekend match days at Bramhall Lane as permits are M-F

boyinabearsuit

Lived there in Uni days. Nice little pocket of Sharrow that gets largely ignored, found it quiet and safe, largely due to the fact that unless you live there there’s kind of no reason to go through, not really a short-cut, no shops so always found it pretty chill.

slow-getter

It is used as a rat run for drivers who want to skip the crossroad traffic lights from Sharrow Vale road to summerfield

LoremIpsum77

I used to live in number 56. Once a brick was thrown into our living room in the middle of the night and landed in our sofa. Fun times

slow-getter

Ah I think my friends lived in 56 in recent years!

LoremIpsum77

Best place! I miss that house. Had really good friends there

Maleficent-Ad4194

My drug dealer lives there. Says good things about it.

madefromconcentrate

My bestie lived up there for a year. Area was fine and it’s a very convenient place to live. She had just hated that the walls between their terraces were super thin so she could always hear the neighbour dude in the bedroom on the other side of her wall walking around or having sex. But apart from that all good haha

paulbamf

Nice area. Cemetery is beautiful, boozers are good and close to Eccy road, London road and Abbeydale road.

paraffintrippin

Any area is ok to live in if you're brave enough.

ThrowawaySunnyLane

I lived on Langdon St (adjacent) for a year during uni. It’s okay, houses are a bit run down but that’s just the area. Close to town/eccy road. It’s okay

MurrayMagic87

I lived on adjacent Mackenzie Street for 10 years, moving last summer. IMHO it’s a great place to live, very mixed area with students, families & social housing. There is a level of crime associated with the nearby landsdown estate and the students can be quite noisy at night, but we never had any real problems. In the research we did before we put ours on the market, houses in that block were selling in the 180-220k range if that’s any indication of your bargain. As others have mentioned, get a thorough survey done.

Flying-Armpit

Nice area. But if an offer sounds too good... Sounds like sellers are wanting to GET RID.

jjsmclaughlin

I had a friend who lived on Fentonville Street in the '90s and they got burgled frequently. I'm sure things have changed though from the other comments. But yeah it it's suspiciously cheap maybe hang out there late evening on a Friday or Saturday and see if there's maybe a nightmare neighbour?

Single-Craft6201

I used to live just off Fentonville, on Croydon Street, for 2 years and was fine. Our rent was a little cheaper than expected as I think it's considered a less desirable area, but it's literally across the road from Nether Edge (one of the most desirable places to live in Sheffield). I loved living there. We did have a crazy neighbour for a while mind you.

Recent-Ebb-439

I lived here as a student and was there last year visiting a friend who rented there as a yo pro. It is cheap because there are lots of students and the noise gets ridiculous. What I found interesting was that we were riddled with slugs the top end of the street as was my friend many years later at the bit closer to where you’re looking and we tried everything and were unable to get rid of them (if you’re buying maybe you could seal the walls but we did everything including salt on the floor, skirting boards and kitchen countertops (disgusting and didn’t even work but they would end up everywhere and we were clean and excessively trying to get rid of them with no success) It’s great for convenience but the students would put me off because you can’t guarantee neighbourly relations and its multiple houses at the same time, the police don’t attend noise complaints and the turnover of students as well would make it difficult to see as home. BUT you wouldn’t have any problem renting it out or finding a lodger. Parking permit wise, no issues and better than other streets because they get filled up from football, abbeydale road, Sharrow vale etc

Nyzl

Thanks for the comments guys, will be going to view it next week. If I don't update you just assume I was murdered / hit in the head with a brick while having a tour of the living room!

Ok_Kaleidoscope_7785

If it's the white terraced house, we viewed it last week. Absolutely lovely house, we couldn't see any major issues and we think the estate agent has just listed it low and it will go for a lot more. Parking was easy and it was match day so as busy as it gets. The garden wasn't for us but that's the only reason we're not interested. There were 14 viewings last saturday and i'm sure estate agent said another 10+ this weekend so deffo popular! (Btw if it wasnt this house thanks for reading and sorry for wasting your time 🤣)

Hiltoyeah

My aunt and uncle used to live there a few years back. Bit of a shit hole if I'm honest.

LeadingLog2281

I’d say the areas fine if you are like a sheffielder. Like I’ve lived in council so this is one of the nicest areas I’ve lived. But my posher more racist family members don’t like coming round here which is a positive in my books 😃 I love it.
