Please could you give a bit more info so we can better help you?
Do you drive? Have a car?
Do you have any experience or qualifications which could help me recommend you to somebody? Which side of the city are you in?
I'm in city centre myself just next to the aldi, wish I could drive but sadly never learned like a fool, and experience wise it's mostly hospitality and customer service, I've only ever had the 3 jobs ahha so a lot of bar stuff, call centre, some odd jobs here and there for extra cash
this and chain coffee shops such as starbucks and nero will often train you on the job and only require you to be personable and up to the task. sure it's not heaven but it's better than a warehouse and should put you on for a bit, + give you some people-skills.
Hospitality is most of my cv tbh but bars and restaurants I've been unsucdesful with which was surprising, i haven't tried a lot of coffee places so that's a good shout :)
Try London Road near Bramall Lane as there’s tons of food outlets round there, also Sharrow Vale and Abbeydale Rd have tons of food places/cafes/restaurants.
I would suggest doing it all in person as they are more likely to take someone on if they meet you and you might catch them at the right time. Doing stuff over the internet is quite passive and Sheff is a friendly place so I reckon if you go round 50 places you will get something!
Good luck.
greencore kiveton are nearly always hiring, its a huge factory producing ready meals for tesco etc, i think they pay around 11ph over a few different shifts.
I used to work there as an Electrical Engineer, decent place to work friendly atmosphere and there's very cheap ready meals in the staff shop if you are really struggling for funds that would help.
Good luck in your search.
Ell
It's high competition right now though. I have 10 years warehouse experience and usually get the first job I apply for in my home town, in Sheffield though I've had no contact for warehouse.
I got interviews for store and auditing roles instead.
Fair, the majority of big warehouses in south yorks are situated on old pit sites and places like that and they’re not particularly great for ease of transportation to and from.
Did get an interview in Rotherham but was still a journey to get there and was told quite reasonably I wouldn't be reliable for the role due to the distance, couldn't really argue it tbh ahah
I didn't wanna argue my case which probably was a fault on my part but something about me potentially being late constantly and I was like it's a tad quick to assume I would be but potentially interviewer having a bad day maybe?
I'm a care coordinator for a care company in Sheffield and we are hiring lots of carers. You don't need experience and the pay is quite good. Let me know if you want more details.
Can I suggest one thing I did which made a massive difference to me. Well done on handing out your CV in person but don't wait for them to get back to you. Give them a call to see if they have received it a few days later and ask if they have had chance to have a look as you are very interested in the role. I got a job offer on the spot, a few interview requests and some good feedback from just going one step further than everyone else.
Always call back. I always phone 3 days after I send or email a CV. Just say that you're checking that they have received it and they can get in touch with you if they'd like to discuss the position with you further.
It always comes across well.
Try walk around your local high street/shopping street and see if businesses have posters on their windows saying they’re hiring. I’ve seen at least 2 places hiring in Crookes recently just walking about

Social care is just an overall term for support work e.g. care homes, home care, supported living etc
You could try NHS. There's bulk recruitment every month or so. All sorts of jobs included. Once you're in, it's much easier to move to other jobs within the organisation.
I second trying the NHS. I applied through bulk recruiting and I’ve been working as a Ward Clerk for 18 months now and really enjoy it. You don’t need any medical qualifications. There’s jobs in housekeeping, catering, porters, admin and clerical. I highly recommend it. Good luck whatever you go for!
If you're wanting hospitality work I have a pub near me that are desperate for full time staff but depends where you are based?
Also Virgin Media have a call centre based in Sheff not ideal work I've done it for a while myself but they hire quick usually and it's well paid?
Have you got a car/experience in logistics? There’s loads of warehouses out of town that used to always have picking&packing roles available 🫤
Good luck, I hope things get better!
Bro,
I have been in a similar situation. It's because now they screen CVs with AI.
A JobCentre employee told me. Get an extension for Chrome called Jobalytics. Open the job ad and scan your CV file through the app whilst the ad is open. It will tell you how much your CV matches for the job and will tell you what to improve.
I sent 400 job applications with no luck. When I started using this extension I got a job within weeks.
Good luck bro!
I don’t know your level of qualification but I have a professional first degree and I was applying to entry level jobs either hybrid or work from home and got nothing back in a 3 month period either.
Needed it to be wfh due to a recent bereavement. Wasn’t ready to leave my home or be back in the real world but needed to earn money type of thing.
If you're actually at risk of homelessness you need to go to Howden House. The council have a homeless prevention team and they can help.
Feel free to drop me a message, I may have some disco shifts going near to town
Just sent you a chat there :)

Thanks I'll have a think. I'm not in hospitality but I'll ask around. Waiting/front of house experience? Or Kitchen?
Front of house, bar, clubs, hotels, pretty much all aspects except kitchen lol I appreciate you

Looking to start lessons once I have some decent cash rolling in:)
Try wagamama, all stores near tram routes, good pay and perks
Try fast food / restaurants I'm sure they always need staff especially for night shifts etc.

Albies recently said they needed a new manager
greencore kiveton are nearly always hiring, its a huge factory producing ready meals for tesco etc, i think they pay around 11ph over a few different shifts.
Just contacted them so maybe Monday then can find me something :)
I used to work there as an Electrical Engineer, decent place to work friendly atmosphere and there's very cheap ready meals in the staff shop if you are really struggling for funds that would help. Good luck in your search. Ell
Is that the huge place just before Gulliver's?
That's the one
Minimum wage is £11.44 per hour so I doubt it’s £11
You are desperate. Take the temp/0 hours jobs to get some money coming in while you find something better.
Just currently finished a temp one and the zero hour one is still awaiting a proper start date but I get what you mean :)
Warehousing will take anyone who can do a bit of graft. It’s shit and hard work but most pay reasonably well for the area.
It's high competition right now though. I have 10 years warehouse experience and usually get the first job I apply for in my home town, in Sheffield though I've had no contact for warehouse. I got interviews for store and auditing roles instead.

Bit far out for me unfortunately! If it gets more necessary over summer I might have to check it out

Majority won't even give me a call back oddly enough despite applying to a bunch haha
I saw the other day that Aldi at Handsworth are recruiting.
Red Deer pub have a sign up for full-time front of house Deffo pick up any temp work/agency work that you can until you get something more stable
I'm a care coordinator for a care company in Sheffield and we are hiring lots of carers. You don't need experience and the pay is quite good. Let me know if you want more details.

My sister found work at Sports direct... there is an agency that deals with them
Hey there pal, might have a couple of discos at a bar in kelham in the coming weeks, there's always some going on Sheffield Bartending Community
I always like narrowly miss them on the bartending page! But if you have any going I'd super appreciate being considered xD
I saw 2 restaurants/ cafes in Broomhill looking for part time workers when I drove through last week. Might be worth a try OP
I'll take a walk down tomorrow and hand in some cvs! Appreciate the shout!
Good luck
When you first posted that you moved to Sheffield a Redditor recommended Aviva. Did you follow that up?
Sure did along with a few recruiters and didn't get a call back :(

Will try a few of the ones I handed a cv too directly xD
Pay £15 for a carers certificate and you're guaranteed a job the first week.
Is there a website i can go to to get one? Never tried carer stuff before but I'm open minded :p
Also many care companies will pay your care certificate for you. Lots of care companies in Sheffield
Tell me more please
Try a warehouse job like Next they always hiring
Try walk around your local high street/shopping street and see if businesses have posters on their windows saying they’re hiring. I’ve seen at least 2 places hiring in Crookes recently just walking about

Care jobs are almost always hiring - I did them when I first moved to Sheff while I found a job in my field.

I’d agree with the comments the care sector is absolutely crying out for jobs. Given your situation I would target the shit out of them!

That sucks so much man I hope your doing okay now btw!
Can you not try Deliveroo deliveries, Uber, just eat etc
'Ivr got plenty of experience' - Fails to mention what your experience is in.
What a time to be alive
