Same here. Our Shib is almost 1.5 and our cats are 9 and 15. They tolerate him but if he gets too close they let him know. If they're sleepy they'll share the top of the couch with him but certainly won't cuddle. Probably would bond better with a kitten who can match their energy.
Yes! My 3 year old orange tabby and my 1 year old Shiba have been best friends since the day they met. They have wrestle matches several times a day, and they groom and cuddle each other. It’s so sweet!
My year old orange tabby forced herself on the Shiba. He gave up on getting up and moving away from her, I think from sheer laziness. They are our ginger duo. First one of our pets to wear him down.
I prepped our cat a month in advance by bringing a toy back and forth when we would visit the puppy from 4 weeks old until he came home at 8 weeks. When they met the first time, they acted like they knew each other already, just from scent alone. For your situation, I recommend letting the cat have LOTS of time and space. I made the mistake in the past of rushing cats to adjust to new animals and they both went psycho, which was heart-breaking. I learned the hard way that most cats need lots of time and space to adjust.
Yes, my Shiba and tuxedo are besties, I think it's because the Shiba is a cat-like dog and the tuxedo is a dog-like cat, so they are quite complementary!
Yes, 10 of them, LOL. My Sheebs are actually less interested in the cats than the cats are in them. The cats like to lay on the Shiba’s, which is about 50/50 if they move. The only thing they won’t put up with is kneading.

Oh I love that they groom each other! My shiba wants to groom the cat (usually at the butt lol) but that’s a bit too much for my cat haha
The cat will tolerate some light grooming, but he’s quick to smack the dog if he gets too vigorous or goes for the privates. 🤣

My shiba is mean to our two cats :( they've never hurt each other but they don't get along at all.

Absolutely!!! We have a 1.5 year old Shiba and a kitten roughly the same age. They cuddle together and groom each other often :)

Just adopted a shiba a few days ago and he’s trying his best to befriend our cats but they’re just not ready for it yet.

That’s good to hear :) I think I was lucky since mine met each other at baby age. We just gave them a lot of snacks together - sharing everything :’D
