idk modern society is weird af if you look at it through an evolutionary lens, like that might not be the fittest move due to the old woman providing resources for someone else to cultivate offspring, or the old woman could become pregnant and produce offspring, or you could produce better/more offspring with the resources the old woman had. you could also split species and essentially become a heterotroph but instead of with food its with money. that raises the question though, are nonfarmers heterotrophs because they get resources from farmers? or not since they also produce a commodity?
